Verrès Castle

Very authentic and well kept castle. Visiting the inside is well worth it. You get a real feel of medieval arhmosphere.

Wonderful building! Very carefully restored. I am amazed about the architectural skills of the builders-every fortifying detail is well done and with thought!
Unfortunately in every castle in the region there is only tour guides in italian, which is a strange decision..

I didn't go in but looks super cool from outside! There are also great views and hiking around it!

Originally a military outpost then abandouned and restored. Every stone tells a story, traps, walls, loopholes, battlements. Absolutely fascinating. The walk up to the Castle is demanding but it's an important part of the visit. It helps you understand how impregnable the Castle was. Only guided tours.

For little price the visit and the 30 min tour. I found it really nice. There is nothing (stuff) inside, but still the structure is wonderful.

Carefully restored castle, done in way that makes it useful for current events, perhaps less useful from a strictly historic perspective.

When you arrive it seems to come back in the past... The castle it renovated in a perfect way.. .. you will fell like a king or queen

Very interesting place but keep in mind that visit are only in Italian. Moreover, you will have to climb a lot to get to the entrance and once inside, a lot of ups and downs stairs. If you can manage, this is a fascinating place because of the many details thought in medieval times in terms of defence. The history of the castle is incredible.

An amazing historical monument, this castle is a fortress built for defence. Guides will tell you its fascinating story, walking its great halls. There is a small parking at the entrance, and a little path to walk uo to the main door.
A nice restaurant can be found close by the parking lot.

I do love this castle, one of the best I visited in Valle d'Aosta so far !

Beautiful castle/manor. A tour guide is preferred.

Il Castello di Verrès si erge su un promontorio roccioso che domina l'abitato di Verrès ed è una fortezza militare costruita da Ibleto di Challant nel XIV secolo.
E’ inoltre uno dei primi esempi di castello monoblocco ossia costituito da un unico edificio.
Si raggiunge a piedi tramite una mulattiera che si inerpica fino a raggiungere l'ingresso della cinta muraria.
E’ possibile acquistare il biglietto di ingresso in loco oppure tramite il sito ufficiale ad un costo di 7 euro (5 euro il biglietto ridotto e iscritti FAI).
I minori non pagano.
Visita assolutamente consigliata.

Architettonicamente meraviglioso!! Pieno di sorprese e furbizie per essere difeso e x poter sopravvivere ad assalti e periodi di isolamento. La guida è stata fantastica portandoci ad immaginare la vita che c'era dentro alle mura. Spoglio di arredi ma davvero stupendo in termini di costruzione. Super consigliato!!!

È un bel esempio di castello medioevale, con funzione di fortezza. All'interno non è rimasto l'arredamento ma si ammirano le strutture maestose, i grandi caminetti, lo scalone, le finestre, le cucine, etc.

Il successo di questa visita è il merito che va alla guida che ha saputo con grande passione e professionalità farci fare un viaggio nel tempo. Tanto di cappello per come è stata brava . Siamo tornati indietro nel tempo . Merita tantissimo.

Castello impressionante dall'esterno. L'interno è spoglio, ma la visita, guidata come in tutti i castelli in valle, lo rende estremamente interessante. Faticoso l'accesso, da effettuarsi con ripida mulattiera che congiunge il castello dal parcheggio.
