Issogne Castle

The Castle is not the classic medieval fortress but a residence from the 1500s, which can be visited, with beautiful frescoes and rooms, in my opinion the interiors of the castle are the best in the whole of the Aosta Valley.

From the street it seems anything but a castle and you could have the will to come back because it would seem worth chump change from parking lot. Don't go away!
Once entered you can see one of the best preserved castle of Valley. And it's huge with a lot of frescoed rooms. 5€ for a guided visit it's the worth of it (free for children with less than 6 years).
Very competent guide in Italian language.

From the outside it doesn't look too attractive. Really. But inside... so many interesting and unique exhibits and wall paintings. Go there if you are interested in history.

One of the most visited Castles in the Valley. A castle and a palace, with colorful frescoes and furniture ( original or replaced but according to the style). Remarkable writings dating back 1700 or 1600 left by the pilgrims. The guided tour (in italian) was really interesting.

My phone says I visited today but I was just picking up my daughter from school.. I've been there and I can say it's the best castle in the valley. Cost about 10€ per person.

Inn our tour of several castles, this one was one of our favorites because of the frescoes and the story of the graffiti. It is rather easy access compared to the others. Keep in mind that visits are in Italian, you get a brochure in English.

Issogne Castle in fact is the fortified manor house that belonged mighty family of De Chalan. When family was extinguished in XV century new owner of the castle became local bishop. Here you are going to find the cycle of frescoes painted in 1498-1501 by the unknown painter with the scenes of every day life of soldiers, taylors, apothecaries and etc. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light and tripod.
