There is way more to Okinawa’s Chiraumi Aquarium than meets the eye. The aquarium holds 7,500,000 litres or almost 2 million gallons of water. It’s part of a colossal 700,000 sq m park complex created in 1976 for a World Oceanic Expo.

This is the highlight of any visit to Okinawa. Plan to spend a full day, especially if you are bringing children. It’s educational, it’s experiential and it’s entertaining.

There is an Okinawan Village, the Tropical & Subtropical Arboretum and the Oceanic Culture Museum, a Planetarium, Sea Turtle Pool, a Manatee Pool, a Dolphin Show and more.

This park is the pride and joy of Okinawa, so beautifully designed - everywhere you turn, there’s a photo to be taken.

We mistakenly entered the South gate of the Ocean Expo Park today on our way to the last day of the Tulip fair. We decided to walk instead since it was about 12 minutes to walk from the free parking space and the weather is great. There were several older people playing something like golf but using wooden sticks and the ball looks more like a baseball. There is a shuttle too for the whole park if one prefers not to walk. To my delight the arboretum has some cherry blossoms left for 2024. Park is great for walking and for family outings.

So much to do! And so beautiful! Between the Aquarium, Arboretum, Tropical Dream Center Botanical Garden, Okinawan Village, Sea Life Exhibits and Oceanic Culture Museum, you can’t get bored! There are also numerous cool playgrounds for kids.

Outstanding. Beautiful location highly worth the low price of the tickets. Give yourself at least two hours to wander through at a pleasurably pace. Bathrooms are easy to find as are beautiful photo locations.

The most wonderful place during my okinawa trip. Large fish, including whale sharks, can be seen in the largest aquarium. This is a place where you want to spend an entire day looking at each of the exhibits and repeating the dolphin show.

We are going to the aquarium in Okinawa and to my surprise when we arrive we have to pass the amazing park. The flower is maintained nicely, so you can enjoy the view side by the beach. Inside the huge park you can find many local food trucks, so you can try the taste of Okinawan food. You also can access the beach which I found just an ok beach. Very well maintained and clean park.

Very relaxing atmosphere and beautiful scenery overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Next to the Okinawan aquarium, where all you need to be a kid again is available. You can also enjoy the dolphin show just down the stairs.

Fantastic place with multiple different attractions. Of course you have the aquarium, but then you also have the Ryukyu village, a garden, a giant playground for the kids, and the Tropical Dream Center. The latter being my favourite (there is an admission fee).

Many sites to see surrounded by a beautiful beach and tropical resort hotels. The aquarium is the central feature along with the tropical gardens. It's also located by the Bise village which is worth a walking tour.

This is a must visit when in Okinawa. Plenty of exhibits to view to learn about the undersea life. The giant tank with the diver give you a live feed of the Marine life with commentary. There is even a restaurant where you can watch the Marine life swim right up to your seat. The grounds around the aquarium are amazing with excellent views of the ocean. Plenty to do for the entire family.

I would highly recommend to come here after 4pm as it is not as hot and also the ticket is cheaper ( about 2/3 of original price) ticket after 4pm costs only 1290yen.
You could spend the whole day at the park and about 2 hours in the aquarium itself. There are many sites here that are free. The dolphin is also free. I would highly recommend the dolphin show as the dolphins are just too adorable.

In here there's the biggest aquarium of the planet! And they've got every single creature in it too! From little sea-worms to big whale-sharks 🤩
