This is the best bookshop in Kandy so far, because they've provided a comfortable space for reading (which is very helpful when you're not sure what to buy, you can read a little and decide) and the staff is friendly too. You can find almost every book you find here.

The best and oldest book shop in the Kandy area... I'd go since in my childhood time in this book shop... We can buy all of the stationary and others here... And also, different types of books.. This place is very clean and attractive.. Very quiet and calm place. The staff is very good, kind and friendly.. Their customer service is well.. The best thing is that, there are so many seating places available and you can relax while reading a book.. The price is reasonable.. Highly recommended..👍❤📚📌

One of the leading and oldest book sellers in Sri Lanka. A vast collection of books available for any age range. They have separate sections for novels, educational books and so on in different languages. Apart from books, they have stationary and gift items. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable enough . The best thing is that, there are so many seating places available and you can relax while reading a book.

MD Gunasena Kandy Branch, one of Sri Lanka's oldest bookstores, has truly won my heart. Their extensive collection caters to readers of all ages and interests. The staff's welcoming attitude adds to the experience, as they never rush customers and are accommodating even during open hours. A personal highlight was being able to fully enjoy a Roald Dahl book without any pressure to purchase. Notably, I even read a 2000 Rupees priced book without making a purchase. This exceptional treatment and respect for readers, along with the outstanding selection, earns them my enthusiastic 5-star rating. Truly a haven for book enthusiasts!

One of the oldest book shops in Kandy. Almost all kinds of books can be bought hear. School material,novels, medical books, etc. Staff was helpful.

I visited this childhood haunt after many years and was thrilled to see it well stocked as always! It felt like I visited a favourite relative 💖

In my childhood, thanks to my parents, this shop and Mr Dias, its manager then, gave me and my siblings the freedom to roam and take time to choose our books. By that, the joy of touching books, reading the synopsis / blurbe and choosing wisely was learnt 😁 The importance of reading was ingrained to us which we have passed it to our offspring.

A good place to buy and read books

Honestly i really love this place. The building has updated which is a good thing. It's now better, very new, variety of books, new books and it's brilliant. Evan the prices are better. Friendly customer service, reasonable prices, lots of books(very good books) so this is the better place, if you need to buy books, highly recommended.
