Very attractive place. Nice green view everywhere. Kids can enjoy as they need. Nice short grass on the rock with little wet on the rock. At the end of the path you can get in to a place called mini world's end. Walking will not making you tired.

You can enjoy the view of a very scenic mountain range. It is a sensitive ecosystem. This place is surrounded by Nuckles Mountain Range. The climate changes very quickly and without any experience.

One of the scenic places in Sri Lanka. Can travel in a vehicle but the road is bit rough. Parking space available at the site. Washrooms also available at the office.

Pitawala Patana, or Pitawala Thenna Plain, stands as the second-largest plain in Sri Lanka, following Horton Plains in Nuwara Eliya. Upon obtaining tickets from the Forest Department ticket counter and parking your vehicles in the designated area, visitors can commence their walk on Pitawala Patana. This leisurely stroll along a nature trail offers panoramic views of the unspoiled Knuckles Range, grasslands, mountain peaks, valleys, and cliffs, extending for miles.

The experience on Pitawala Patana becomes even more exhilarating during the windy season (May to September). As one ascends, there's a noticeable push, while descending offers a unique resistance. This sensation is both safe and thrilling, provided walkers stay on the designated nature trail on the Patana, avoiding cliff edges and straying from the path.

The velvety appearance of the gently sloping grassland, covered with turf grass standing at approximately 10 cm in height, adds to the enchantment of Pitawala Patana. Scattered trees and shrubs dot the landscape, and the area is home to numerous endemic plant and animal species, contributing to its ecological richness.

Kuda Lokanthaya or Mini worlds end: after about a 750meter walk along Pitawala Patana which takes about 15 to 20 minutes along the nature trail brings you to Kuda Lokanthaya or Mini World’s End, which is a deep escarpment situated at Pitawala Pathana. It resembles a small version of the world famous World's End in Horton Plains. This place grants a panoramic view of the Knuckles Range and some of its valleys below. The designated nature trail leads the visitors easily to the escarpment. From there it is possible to walk along to the rock extrusion which allows one to walk right up to the edge. There are two such extrusions here which are famous viewpoints. During the windy season visitors should take extreme care when walking upto the edges of the rock extrusions. On any season our advice is visitors should only crawl at the edge of the rock extrusion view point to see a beautiful sight below while being safe yourself

If we go 5 kilometers ahead of Rivaston on Laggala Road or Attonwala Road, we will find Pitwala Pathana. In these areas, the plains are like the plains of Mahaeliya. You can see tall plants in some places among the grasslands. The whole leaf is yellow with the leaves.
Pitawala Pathana also belongs to Knuckles Reserve Forest.
You need to buy a ticket to see Pathana and Little World's End. (Rs. 70) There is an information center about Dumbara near the ticket counter. You can gather a lot of knowledge from it. You have to walk about 300 meters from the counter to the little worldsend. The road we need to go is shown with arrows. You have to go that way only. Because this is a very sensitive ecosystem. A place where there are many types of small plants and animals. If we leave the road, those plants and animals can be destroyed.

When you go to the end of the world, you can see a beautiful view of more than 180 degrees. There is a steep slope down from the worldsend. Be very careful when taking pictures. A very dangerous place. At the bottom of the slope are very difficult villages like Redbana and Puwakpitiya.
The Kalugaga Reservoir, which was created due to drought, can be seen from afar
When you come back after seeing the little end of the world, you can see the village of Atanwala, and above it, a beautiful scene with mountains like Manigala, Gombania, Lakegala.

It's very hot these days. It won't rain in about 2 months. It is beautiful if you go in the morning. Buy tickets here. There is a lot of parking space. You have to walk only 500 meters.

Its a savana forest you have to move some kilometers by walking . At the end you can reach to the view point . Be safe when you get photographs. No forest coverage therefore best time is evening otherwise hot and warm environment is hard for body . Near the end point there are some broken board that notice about pathana ella or somewhere . And also some footpath and old stare path available i think its a old way and don't go through this. If you wanna go ask some responsible person to confirm its right way or wrong . Management is excellent washrooms are very clean also here maintain small shop that have water bottle and koththu mee noodles and soft drink available but not cold one (they haven't refrigerator)

At 6.30 in the morning, took the bus (from matale) to Mahiyangana. Without getting off from the pitawala junction, we got down directly from "Pitawala Pathana". There, we bought tickets from the counter (70/= per person) and went along the track to see "Pitawala Pathana" which is like another heaven on earth. Winds are sometimes strong. Be careful with that. Leave only footprints without destroying the environment
