Loved this place! It was an amazing experience to dine in the cave. We had forgotten to book but you can just turn up. We only waited for 5 minutes and ate around 12.30pm. The food was good, not groundbreaking but still good. We lit a candle at the end and placed it inside the cave which was a lovely touch to end the lunch. We would recommend to go after visiting Teotihuacán! Not far at all. You can re-enter Teotihuacán after lunch if you keep your ticket.

This had been a bucket list item for a while and I was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was absolutely amazing. And the food was absolutely delicious. I had an horchata cocktail which was one of the best beverages I have ever had. The tortilla soup is the best. Guacamole was good. And the Barbacoa was amazing. I loved everything about this place. And the bonus was being able to walk over to the view the pyramids after lunch.

Such an incredibly unique spot for lunch after a morning wandering the Teotihuacan pyramids. The cave looks amazing and is incredible to eat lunch in. The service we had was fast, efficient and very professional, with great care taken on the food we had also. We left very satisfied. Recommend taking a jacket as it’s quite cool on the cave floor.

Absolutely loved it. Dinning in a cave in candlelight. Place is clean, beautiful, staff amazing and tell you the story of the cave. Food is yummy, from the appetizers to the deserts. Wonderful experience worth the long drive.

The ambiance and food were great. I got a chance to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new (grasshoppers). They were delicious, as was everything else. I really enjoyed my tamarind aguas Fresca.

Oh what a beautiful cave experience dining. Loved loved this place. What an ambience. You must order Cactus preprations here
Very authentic and yum. The best part about this place for me was when the staff blows the shell for you and gives you a candle to light for the cave church

This place was beautiful and their service was amazing. Their food was very tasty. We had chicken mole, albondigas with homemade tortillas. We had elote cake and a tamarind Margarita.

Awesome experience. The food is pretty good indeed, but the ambience is what makes this experience special. Strongly recommend to pass by Gruta if you are in the area.

La Gruta is a unique restaurant that offers a memorable dining experience in a volcanic cave near the Teotihuacan pyramids. The restaurant is located in San Juan Teotihuacan, about 28 miles northeast of Mexico City, and can be accessed through door number 5 of the archaeological site¹². La Gruta has been serving traditional Mexican cuisine since 1906, using local and seasonal ingredients that reflect the pre-Hispanic heritage of the region¹. Some of the dishes that can be enjoyed at La Gruta are fried corn cakes, trio of quesadillas, escamoles (ant larvae), chinicuiles (red maguey caterpillars), tortilla soup, corn soup, wild mushroom and sour prickly pear soup, and salad with quelite greens and caramelized pecans¹. The restaurant also features Mexican folk and pre-Hispanic dance shows on weekends, adding to the cultural and festive atmosphere of the place¹. La Gruta has hosted many distinguished guests over the years, such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Jorge Luis Borges, and Queen Elizabeth II¹. La Gruta is a restaurant that should not be missed by anyone who visits Teotihuacan, as it offers a unique opportunity to taste the flavors of Mexico, admire the natural beauty of the cave, and immerse oneself in the history and culture of the ancient civilization that built the pyramids.

Amazing! So beautiful so unique I mean you are in a cave people! Food is amazing! Prices are very fair and the service is the kindest! Chicken fajitas were delicious and those in the party who had grasshoppers loved them!! Drinks very yummy and they have a variety of choices. Very big space and very clean bathrooms. You do have to go down stairs there are railings. And at the end you get a little history on the place and some candles to place on another set of stairs! So pretty! Highly recommended.

You come here to eat in a cave. Good food is a bonus, let's face it. Food isn't bad. It's creative but a little poorly executed. Would still come again.

Table reservations needed at front door. They call you by name. Prepare yourself for a minimum 0,5h waiting time at high season.

Unique ambiance, great service. Food is very average, you can get similar food in a Mexican restaurant in the US for half the price.

One of a kind restaurant set inside a cave. Cocktails like every where in Mexico were excellent. And they have a non-alcoholic version. Food was good too. We had the farm soup and organic chicken. Well worth a visit.

Walking to this place from the pyramids was easy. Google Maps gave detailed directions. The guacamole is a must order. Holy guacamole that was the best I've ever had. The goat was just okay. The service was exceptional. The atmosphere was jaw dropping. I mean you're in a cave! We came during the summer in June, but the place was cool.
