Santa Elena Estate - CAFELINO

We stopped in on a Saturday morning as Google indicated Cafe Lino was open. Seems these hours may be from a prior owner. When we walked up, one of the pickers seemed confused when we asked about a tour but brought us to the manager Roberto. He was extremely gracious, explaining they weren't actually open for formal tours but then proceeded to spend two and a half hours waking us through the plantation. He shared information about how they were transforming the farm's growing practices, the coffee varietals they planted, the impact of climate change, and sharing information about the pepper business they maintained as well. He was obviously very proud of the farm and the work he and his family were doing to adopt modern environmentally friendly growing practices, add new coffee cultivars, and add natural composting capabilities. If you happen to catch Roberto and he can spend the time it's an extremely worthwhile visit.
