Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel

Sumaq exceeded my expectations. After I booked with them I was emailed by an employee that extensively outlined hotel amenities and listed a detailed itinerary custom made for the exact dates and times of our stay with them that we could follow to get the most out of our trip. When we arrived at the train station we were greeted by a bell boy that took our luggage for us and guided us over to the hotel. The room we stayed in was gorgeous and very spacious. The view from the balcony was incredible! They offered complementary breakfast which was great for us to quickly grab before we ventured out for the day. Staff was extremely helpful with every aspect of our stay. One night we wanted to go to the hot springs and staff was able to provide us with information on them and gave us tote bags with towels. On our last day they offered to have us drop off our luggage with them in the morning and bring up our bags to the train station at our scheduled departure time. Their hotel is a bit of a distance from the train station so it was very nice that they offered this accommodation. One of the best hotels I’ve been to!

We just stayed at the sumaq and it was amazing!! Very clean and modern. 8-10 min walk to the main busy hub area. Food at the restaurant was delicious along with its presentation!!! We met Larry the waiter there and he was the nicest person you will ever meet. They are very lucky to have him working there. Highly recommend this place.

This hotel is truly fabulous! It is gorgeous to look at, comfortable to be in. Service is impeccable, and everybody goes above and beyond. Easy walking distance to the train station, but off by itself at the bottom of the hill across the street from the sacred river. Food is fabulous, varieties for every taste and lifestyle. I would recommend coming here the day before your ascent to Machu Picchu and then the night after and leave on an early train back to Cusco

I really enjoyed my stay here, it is absolutely beautiful and staff was amazing. The food in the restaurant was top notch. They organized a guided tour of Machu Picchu for me that was incredible as well, my guide was great and I had a great day and learned so much. My only regret is that I didnt have more time to stay linger.

Came for lunch after Machu Pichu. Great food and service. Francisco and Faustino even dried out drenched jackets while we ate. Highly recommended!

Absolutely wonderful experience at Sumaq. Lovely that the MP bus will drop you off in front of the hotel. My room was clean, comfortable and the food was delicious! Shoutout to Roger for a great welcome beverage. Also I left my hoodie in the room and Jhailyn went above & beyond to get it to me before I left Lima. Thank you so much!!

This is the nicest place in town with a wonderful location. Yes, the train can be heard occasionally but the entire town hears it so don’t stay in town if that stuff bothers you. The pros outweigh that by a million. Close to everything, wonderful staff, cooking classes, and the rooms are luxury in the middle of a truly remote area.

Perfect spot because you’re close to the shops, but there is a cute little park across the way to unwind. Also the bus from Macchu Picchu will drop you off right at the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and energetic. I would definitely recommend the full body massage after hiking around. Also the front bar tender Eric was amazingly helpful, and the chamomile lemongrass drink was dynamite.

The ONLY 5-star hotel in the town where you start your trekking to the glorious Machu Picchu!

A nice walk from the rest of town, great food and service, clean and nice rooms, and a simple bus ride from Machu Picchu. Has a nice view of the river as well. Overall a good place to stay.

Best hotel in Machu Pichu period. Nicest rooms, super cushy and great service. The breakfast is complementary and full of classic Peruvian fare. Has amazing views of the water/river and if your lucky on a clear day you can see the ruins.

The staff is incredible! They even gave us a pisco sour and ceviche class! Francisco in the bar is fantastic! The hotel is very close to Machu Picchu town, the train station, and the main bus/trail entrance to the Machu Picchu historical site. The breakfast and dinner service were tasty, with something for everyone. We tried a stone massage at the spa and it was very nice too. If you are doing an overnight trip to Machu Picchu then I highly recommend staying here (even above the Sanctuary).

Staff was excellent. Bar was never open while there but it made us see the town which was a treasure upon itself. The restaurant was amazing. Food was 5 Star on it's own. The river outside our room made for the most relaxing sleep of our lives. Make sure to get a room overlooking the river. This place is the gem of the town for sleep. Other places for shopping and drinks are right around the corner. A must stay!!!!

We stayed in the imperial suite king. We had an amazing time here. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Staff takes the time to learn your name and cater to any needs and preferences. The breakfast and dinner services were delicious with plenty of variety for all tastes. Incredibly well located close to the market, bus and train stations. We enjoyed beautiful views of the mountains and river.

Sumaq Hotel is one of those special places you must stay at. The suite was top shelf (#1107). The staff is excellent! Standing out were- Ricardo at reception who never wavered in his pursuit of our perfect stay & who personally sorted a major dilemma for my wife & I, Juan @ the door who was the man about town & who personnally sorted our invalid tickets to Machu Picchu the day prior to our expected entrance - lastly, Larry at the bar who never missed a beat with a helpful suggestion for one's day, an excellent dinner location or a simple chat when a moment of chill was afforded. Simple fact - Just stay here!

We loved this hotel. They met us at the train station to take our luggage to the hotel. Check in was quick and easy, where they offered a welcome drink and nosh. The ambiance and decor is beautiful. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the robes were amazing. They had a fruit plate and hand-written welcome note in our room upon arrival. Everyone was helpful and polite. This is definitely a 5-star hotel. I would stay here again. Highly recommend.

This place is Magic so beautiful with a wonderful Spa. Wonderful breakfast and dinner, we only stayed 1 night I had a massage withMARIA she is amazing you must have a Massage with MARIA she is the best.
