We used to go here every summer back in the 90's. Damn water is freaking cold as hell. After swimming, you jump on the big hot rock and then lie flat. 🤣

Operation stopped for 2 years due to covid-19 pandemic, that is why when iatf levelled down Laguna to alert level 1. The resort is a bit out of order. The management is doing their best effort to bring back its glory. They are fixing old cottages to newer ones.
As for the main purpose of visiting this wonderful resort. Water is still clean, cool and refreshing added with the ambiance of a paradise inside a forest. Staffs are friendly, polite, courteous and attentive to all tourists. Absolutely recommendable for a quick getaway for family, friends and even great location for team-building.

I love this place. I'm not into pools that much and I like running water even more than the waters being still and filled with chlorine. We had a fun time here; we had a barbecue party and a boodle fight, all the while dipping our feet into the water. The water is cold as hell and even made my friend's lips turn purple, but I like the cold rather than stay under the sun. The bridge on the near side of the falls is safe, and the feel of the water from the falls running down on your back (you cannot put your bare back or it might hurt) is the most relaxing feeling in the world. The only thing that confuses me is why the showers are far away, and the rest rooms are few. If you make the number of 'bahay kubo' on the sides plenty, then there should also be the same number of rest rooms.

bring extra drinking water and extra food. it is a cool place to visit. wear footware and wear appropriate dress code for ladies and men just to not ruin the ambiance. please call so early to reserve kubo or native house because this place is so crowded due to the place popularity.

It is called Majayjay because it is a mountain area. And, people say hay hay. And it became Majayjay indigenous residents used to be called Malay Barangay. Made a town by the Spanish colonial government in 1578.

At this time, the Malay Barangay was one of the most populous in the newly established province. It competed with Bay and Pagsanjan during the provincial capital selection.

The popularity of the new town grew immediately during the Spanish period. Its location at the foot of the mountain gave it an abundant supply of fresh mountain spring water. Four rivers flowed through the town. They are Initian, Oobi and Ula, from the lofty mountain, and Balanac from the Botocan waterfall where all three rivers meet.

Botocan Falls and the view of the town are uniquely popular. Europeans and wealthy natives from Manila often visit the town. However, the road to Malay Barangay is tough. Guests have to be transported from Manila via the Pasig River to Laguna de Bay. The land journey began by riding horses through a forest path, and then carried by the natives in hammocks while en route to Malay Barangay.

Regarding how the Malay Barangay got the name Majayjay, residents assume that the Spaniards have difficulty pronouncing the Malay Barangay. The early colonizers may have shortened it to Malay-ay, until it became Majayjay. However, these legends tell of the arduous journey to Majayjay, which gave the town its name. Tired of traveling sighed, "Hay!" then measured into a precipice, "Hay!" then climb a hill, and "Hay!" then crossed a raging river. So, the guests referred to the place as “Mahayhay,” meaning plenty of breath. The Spanish spelled it "Majayjay."

Immediately after the conversion of the natives of the Malay Barangay, a temporary church was built near the May-it River. It was destroyed by fire in 1578. Believers built a new church made of bamboo and cogon thatch to replace the old one. However, it was again burned to the ground by fire. At this time, the faithful built a stone church, but it burned again to ashes. Residents wondered. Despite repeated fire incidents, the image of their Patron Saint, San Gregorio Papa Magno remained miraculously unharmed.

Through the efforts of Padre José de Puertollano, contributions implemented from the parishioners, and forced labor of the natives, a new elegant church arose in Majayjay. It took nineteen years, countless donations and countless eyelash marks to lash out behind the weak natives to finish the church. The completion of the church in 1730 placed it on the list of the most elegant churches in the province.

Remote location with few guests that could use some cleanup, but beautifully integrated into the natural environment. Great food as well.
