Mount Meru Game Lodge

Such a tranquil lodge in a beautiful setting. Amazing attention to detail with interesting art, chess sets and a gramaphone. Food is delicious, service is excellent, and there's an interesting cultural tour available free of charge. However the cherry on top is watching the waterbuffalo cooling themselves off during breakfast and spotting Kilimanjaro peaking through the clouds.

I always stay here when I’m passing through Arusha. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. The food is VERY good, and the service is excellent. Thank you to Anderson and Harry for great service that made our stay perfect. The rooms, pool, gardens, and massages are all very good.

What a lovely stay at Mount Meru! The lodge is set within a relaxing lush garden setting! The grounds are beautiful, welcoming and entertaining with several types of monkeys overhead in the surrounding trees and rooftops. Pool area was perfect for the warm days. Excellent service from reception, meal service and housekeeping! Zak, Anderson and Jacob welcomed us warmly each day. The food was fantastic and the staff very accommodating. I would highly recommend a stay at Mount Meru.

Tranquil and surrounded by trees and vegetation. Pleasure to watch the water buffaloes, Zonkeys and monkeys as you have your lunch.

The owner very kindly provided our party with two rooms at an excellent ‘day rate’ to use before flying out after a 2 week veterinary charity campaign. Peaceful location, excellent food and a relaxing day by the pool with Colobus monkeys playing in the trees above! Thank you, will definitely return.

My favorite lodge during my 3 wk Tanzania trip. 3-day stay to unwind after Kili climb and safari. Loved it! Very personalable and local vibe; not touristy or pretentious. Central and quiet location <1 hr from airport makes a great home base for safaris, Arusha Natl Park, or Kilimanjaro climb.

Comfortable, clean, rooms, though I spent most of my time relaxing outdoors on the grounds, where there were plenty of spots to read, write, and watch the animals in the nearby "watering hole". Best kitchen of the half dozen places I stayed in Tanzania, available pretty much all day. Staff are just wonderful: very friendly, engaging, and helpful. I highly recommend the town tour and the canoe tour on nearby Lake Duluti, which is a birdwatcher paradise. Both are < 3hrs, close by, and can be arranged through the lodge.

Strongest possible recommendation! Historic lodge, beautiful scenery with birds and animals on-site, a pool, bonfires, and indoor/outdoor dining. Cabins are lovely, beds are comfortable and very welcome after a long flight. Hospitality is perfect, to include personal engagement by owner Harry and his family (this really made it special). My kids gave rave reviews about the food — especially dinner, which they say was one of the top 3 meals they’ve ever eaten.

I’ve stayed at this lodge 3 times and all of those have been greeted with exceptional service, delicious food and an absolutely magical setting. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are very comfortable (good sheets cool room temperature hot water with pressure etc etc) The setting is such that any moment you’d expect to see Ernest Hemingway walk around the corner.

We had a lovely stay here before we started our safari. It was a great place to rest after our journey over to Tanzania. The food was delicious, made even better by the views over to the animals. We enjoyed the monkeys playing during breakfast.

We had a more than amazing stay in this hotel. Everything was so beautiful about this place. The rooms, views on the animals in the sanctuary, the nature, the pool, the common areas and last but not least the team working there! The owners are also very sweet and helpful if you would have any questions.
Not a big menu but what they serve is delicious. The breakfast was also amazing with everything you need.
Side note: And the best thing about this place is its very cool history.

What an amazing place. Still family owned since 1959. You can really feel kind hearted family atmosphere through the staff who try to read every wish from your eyes. Our incoming flight was delayed by a few hours so we got in to the hotel around 1 in the morning. All the restaurant staff waited and cooked us a fantastic meal in the middle of the night. That’s real hospitality rarely found today.

Beautiful place in AFRICA! Great hospitality by the owners who are new to Meru last year. Beautiful gardens with animal rescue/rehab. Bedrooms are very pretty... nets around beds.... and...COFFEE/TEA served at your door in the morning. Food was very good... nice selections. Friendly, acommodating staff. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful lodge with a lot of history, pleasant, clean rooms, good food and its very own animal park. We enjoyed the gracious hospitality of Harry and his family, having sun downers at the patio while watching the animals. Recommended!

Last week I had a meeting with our partners. Beautiful view and amazing Environment for chilling alongside buffalo and black and white colobus monkeys. See you soon again

Spectacular scenaries.
They have their own pond where you will see beautiful peacocks, ducks and different types of monkeys.
The lodge has ancient history which they are conserving.
I've seen one of the tallest cactus tree(may be of height 100-125ft) on the backside of this lodge.
They've nice pizzas and don't forget to taste the coffee.

Well maintained accommodation, remains clean and natural, great natural vegitation and the presence of few lovely wild animals and birds.
It's location to Kilimanjaro international airport, Arusha national park and Arusha town is great. Gladiola Adventure Ltd recommends Mount Meru Game lodge for our Tanzania 4x4 self drive, Safari and Kilimanjaro trekking clients to overnight before and after their tour.

Fabulous lodge. Takes you back in time. Last stay of a two week safari to recover before flying home and we could not have chosen a better place. Staff very friendly and not after a tip all the time like many of the other lodges. We stayed in some high-end lodges but this is by far the best for comfort, staff, the owner, who gives his time to chat, the amazing bed and surroundings. Can definitely, definitely recommend to all who need to stay near Kilimanjaro airport, and those who don't 😊 😊👍👍❤❤
