Rainforest Lodge Mabira

A fantastic place to stay in the middle of a rainforest. Climb to the top of the mountain and you suddenly come across this beautiful property built tastefully with earthen colors. The property feels a part of the forest. Well equipped cottages are spread across the forest. Expect a short steep walk to reach the cottages, swimming pool or the dining area, but it is worth the exercise. A sunken fire place overlooks the forest. Wisps of clouds constantly pass by. And visits by the red tailed Ugandan monkey are frequent. A must visit during your stay in Uganda.

The drive to the lodge is bumpy but breathtaking. You have a glimpse into what used to be mabira forest; the cool breeze, tall trees and the forest wildlife, mainly consisting of small monkeys.
The facility is massive, with tree cottages which will take your breath away. One side of the cottages faces the open forest with a huge window which u can actually keep open if u wanted to enjoy the wildlife and the breeze. I wasn’t here for the cottages, I was here to camp. They don’t normally offer these kinds of services, but they kindly let me camp for a night in an open space not too far away from the main facility. The security was good so I didn’t have to worry about wild animals, and the walk into the forest was well lit so in could gather wood to burn all night, which want a stretch.
After eating my dinner, I slept like a baby.
In the early morning I took a paid guided forest walk for 1 hour, before seeing off to run my Saturday morning clinic in Kampala.
The staffs are so respectful and kind, and the facility is well maintained.
I loved this place. I am going back soon!!

They offer good service to customers in mabira and roads are accessible

I was there to celebrate my daughter’s birthday but i must say it was worth it. Its a very peaceful place . I loved the food, the kids enjoyed the swimming. You need warm cloths being in the middle of the forest hooo but the campfire came in handy. I will surely come back. You need to put more engaging activities like zip linning.Every staff you came across was welcoming woow. Please keep it up.

The location is a very good and peaceful place.

I didn't spend a lot of time here but if you are a nature lover, this is the place to be. Cool environment with beautiful sounds of trees swaying as birds sing deep the thick tropical rainforest (as the name of the lodge itself depicts). A big signpost off the Kampala Jinja highway so it's hard to get lost..
The road to the lodge is murrum but in good conditions and access by Google maps is accurate 95%, when it says ' you have arrived' and you are seeing no structure around you, don't worry, just stretch a few metres ahead, you will be seeing another signpost on your left.
Hospitality of the staff amazing right from the Askari to the cleaners and reception among others. Very helpful and welcoming.
Parking for the vehicle is just enough.
Monkeys swinging in the trees right around you adds to the collection of Amazing memories that you will get from this place.
Recommended if you love nature and cool environments.

This page is extremely serene. Beautiful, the eco life of the forest remains undisturbed. The night lighting is perfect, the rooms are beautiful, the service is exceptional. Totally worth it. The nights get really cold so please carry warm clothing

Very nice place to get the weekend off as a couple. You are welcomed by the warm host/attendants, and shown around the place... Beautiful view from the upper restaurant, with a very cool light breeze. They also have bonfire ! Overall, I'd most definitely go back for a stay and enjoy the forestry theme they have put up :)

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing place surrounded by nature. Pool has been renovated.

Visited, swam here, eaten and went to a wedding, but never stayed here. A beautiful place to visit and I'm sure a wonderful place to stay. Take a walk in the forest surrounded by butterflies and spot some monkeys, or just have a drink on the top level and enjoy the view. It really is a great place to visit with excellent service.

Food was good, wifi at restaurant worked great and good enough to be able to work online, staff was super super nice
The location is also super nice in the middle of the jungle and on the way to Jinja
Everything was clean and confortable
The sauna was working good and super nice

Only bad things, the pool was not clean, and also we had some aunts bitting us in our room, as well as mouses and spider the size of our hand... but it is nature of course

An amazing lodge in the middle of the forest. While we didnt stay here we stopped over for a forest trek. We were assigned a guide who was very knowledgeable and took us around for a couple of hours. Highly recommend.

My all time favorite lodge in Uganda... Extremely nature centric and tucked right inside a proper tropical rain forest... The perfect place to go when you want to unwind....

Had a wonderful experience with my family. The meals were fresh and 5 star in my opinion. The rooms were clean and well kempt.

Beautiful beautiful place with great food, lovely staff, serene environment and away from the bustle of the city. Its definitely worth a visit.
