The Nile Porch

This place is our favorite along the Nile in Jinja for a weekend or longer. The view over the Nile, Ceyda's warm welcome, the lodges, the monkeys, the food.... In short, an atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy this magical place. Many well-organized activities are available: boat cruise on the Nile, kayaking, village and nature walk.... Well done to Ceyda and her husband for keeping this place so warm and welcoming.

What a hidden gem. We were recommended this place and stayed for a month whilst shadowing in a local clinic. We where made to feel so welcome and comfortable by all the staff and it truly felt like home. The star of the show is the hostess with mostest Ceyda (pronounced Jayda) whose experience in the industry and personality make this place special, nothing is too much trouble just ask for help.

The views of the Nile are breathtaking and your living with the monkeys (who aren’t scary).

Menu at the black lantern has good veggie options but we where addicted to the Nile Special; beer battered talapia and chips with a fresh side salad #awesome!

Top recommendations:
Book at least a nights stay to be able to eat at the restaurant.
Go out on a sunset boat cruise with Chibi (legend)
And rafting/kayaking with Amina (one of the top female kayakers in Uganda)

My family (from the US) lives in eastern Uganda, and we LOVE coming to The Nile Porch! The staff is great, the rooms are wonderful, the food is delicious (get the ribs and crepes for dessert!), the atmosphere is serene, and the kids (and me and my husband!) always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here and feel refreshed! If you are within driving distance, come stay here! You’ll be glad you did. *oh! Please take the boat ride, it’s such a fun experience to go in a large canoe style on the Nile River. Lots of birds and river otters too!

A perfect blend between comfort and camping out enjoying nature. The scenery is beautiful all round. There's several activities; a swimming pool, camp site, quad biking, nature walks, and a special 2 hour sunset boat ride on the Nile, and more. Highly recommend. The restaurant (The Black Lantern) is exceptionally amazing with each dish blowing your taste buds away.
Don't forget to bring insect repellent if you want to hang out later in the evening without interruption)

It's important to note that this lodge is officially part of the Black Lantern Restaurant, however it is also the most luxurious accommodation option available in the general vicinity of Nile River Camp. Beautiful safari tents (buildings with a canvass door and lockable gate) with comfortable beds, gorgeous views of the Nile from your room, lovely warm showers and a great pool too! The rooms include a free breakfast too and it was delicious! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Nile Porch to anyone who wants to enjoy the atmosphere at Nile River Camp or Explorers but is looking for a more luxurious accommodation option! They even have some bungalows too, although there are only a few. Cheaper than staying at Jinja Nile Resort too, but much more fun!

Amazing. Away from city noise plus beautiful view of the Nile

Geweldige lodge aan de oever van de Nile. Goed restaurant, prachtige kamers en een zonsondergang over de rivier om nooit te vergeten. Je kunt verschillende tripjes vanaf deze locatie maken.

Good place. It has a pool, bit bigger but not as deep as the pool next door at Nile River Camp. There is no river access. Good views. Lots of monkeys. We stayed in a triple banda, number 8, which is at the southern end of the property right next to Nile River Camp. No fifth star as it was a bit noisy on the Friday night. Someone in the community was having a party with music that went all night.
Nabule rafting, black lantern restaurant and Tube the Nile are found on the same property.
Nile River Camp is right next door and can be accessed through a small gate.

Lovely and friendly staff. The food at the restaurant (black lantern) was also good. The tent (tent 4) had a great view of the river and lots of space. Sadly it rained during our stay so we couldn't enjoy the pool

Manager from Turkey and her african husband are really nice to talk with. Beautiful tentes, amazing view, garden, restaurant and swimming pool. Only the noise from the two bars beside wast disturbing.

Very nice location but room cleanliness should be improved

Nice..Food

Not worth it !

We booked because The Black Lantern restaurant has some of the best ribs and tilapia in Uganda and they no longer take walk-ins. The punishment of staying here is not worth the meal.
