The food was sooo good the drinks were even better. The decor was really interesting and different in the best possible way. The way the dishes pair spicy, sweet, and texture is truly refreshing.

Drinks were so delicious. The food was fabulous, some of the most flavorful food I’ve had! Can’t go wrong trying this place.

Everything we ate was an absolute delight. We had the pork, the cabbage and the mussels. Super flavorful, beautiful textures in every dish.

Best Thai meal at a restaurant I’ve had. Sensational. This place is worth the drive. I see a lot of reviews about small plates. That’s probably if you do the taste testing option. My daughter and I each ordered our own meal and the proportions were large enough to bring leftovers home. The flavors are incredible. They are deep and layered, and have the perfect spice.
My daughter had the Jungle Mussels. The broth could be a meal on its own with the garlic toast to dip in it. The chicken curry (KHAO SOI ) was also the most flavorful version I’ve had. My only pause was the whole drumstick. I would have preferred smaller pieces in the broth than picking apart the chicken off the bone. The Coconut pan cake appetizer was fun and different. So delicious. My daughter had the non-alcoholic blackberry and cardamom tea. I had the Special Thai tea with rum. Both were delicious and complimented the meal well.
My daughter was treated with a desert of coconut ice cream with a crumble topping and sauce. Was so good, no other ice cream desert could compare.
The service was attentive and had a menu prepared for us to indicate the allergens we needed to avoid. The atmosphere was laid back and casual and tastefully decorated in a fun, modern and crisp way.
Can’t wait to go back.

I consider Detroit to be one of the best if not the best food and beverage cities in the United States and Takoi is one of the best in Detroit. Takoi is a culinary masterpiece offering vegetable-forward dishes with bold and complex flavours inspired by northern Thailand. Having visited three times, I've never been disappointed by any dish.

Even as someone not typically drawn to fried chicken, I must admit that Takoi's rendition is unparalleled. It surpasses even the reputation of a restaurant considered to have one of the best-fried chicken dishes in the United States. It's a true testament to the exceptional quality and innovation found in every aspect of Takoi's menu.

The cocktails at Takoi are not merely an afterthought; they stand proudly alongside the outstanding food. The mixologists here are artists, crafting drinks that complement and elevate the overall dining experience. The balance and creativity in both the food and cocktails are commendable.

Service is exceptional, with knowledgeable, warm, and attentive servers who add a delightful personality to the dining experience. The ambiance, along with the cool servers, creates a perfect setting for an enjoyable meal.

This place deserves a Michelin rating! The exterior is unpretentious and yet when u step inside, u will be dazzled with the colorful lights and minimalist decor. The food is fantastic and very authentic ! I had Khao soi, and it's the best I had. I was surprised it came with a bone-in leg ; it's well seasoned and blended well with the coconut milk broth and herbs !

Takoi's dishes were unmatched with the different flavor profiles in each. The drinks were unique. Sweata weatha was definitely a favorite. We decided to try the tasting menu for dinner. The first couple dishes were pretty spicy but they evened out by the third course where you wouldn't have noticed you had eaten anything spicy. We were so full by the end. Great experience but next time would probably pick a few dishes next time to share.

We visited Takoi Restaurant in Detroit and I must say, it was a truly fantastic dining experience. The moment I stepped in, I was taken to Southeast Asia big city underground nightlife, with a beautifully designed interior that sets the mood for a upbeat and enjoyable meal. The menu is diverse, offering a wide range of dishes to choose from, but what caught my eye was the Crispy BBQ Spare Ribs. The chili and lime rubbed smoked ribs were lightly battered, fried, and glazed with fish sauce caramel, making for an incredibly delicious and flavorful dish.

The Lamb Noodles were another standout dish, with tender and juicy meat that was perfectly complemented by the rich and flavorful sauce. For those looking for a vegan option, the Carrot Dish was simply amazing, with a variety of textures and flavors that worked together beautifully.

But what really sets Takoi apart from other restaurants is their unique and original cocktails. I tried a few and each one was a delightful blend of flavors, with a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and bitter. Whether you're a fan of classic cocktails or something more adventurous, you're sure to find something you'll love here.

Overall, I would highly recommend Takoi Restaurant to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the drinks are original and expertly crafted. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes.

At the west end of Corktown in Detroit, this is a MUST DESTINATION!!! We ate, We drink, We laughed, made friends, met the staff, and will definitely return!! I have a ton more pictures but go take your own, you will not be disappointed! We didn't have to spend as much as we did but we couldn't stop trying dishes... We took home half of the seven courses we chose, and the unique drinks were outstanding!

Fantastic experience! The food is AMAZING. Every single dish we had was bursting with perfectly balanced flavors. The mix of textures, colors, and ingredients in every dish made our meal a beautifully curated culinary delight from start to end. Every dish was incredible, so it’s hard to pick favorites, but the pepper tofu, cabbage, and ice cream dessert were my personal favorites. I’d return for any of those in a heartbeat. Probably the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. As a vegan, I’d highly recommend a meal here. It’s worth going out of your way for.

Hands down the best Thai restaurant in Detroit. It’s a small but busy place with good ambience. The service was good as they guided us through how much to order since we were not sure of the portion sizes.
The food was exceptional. It was very flavorful. We were a big group and ended up trying most of the items on the menu and there every single dish was amazing.
They have good drinks as well.

Came here for my 21st birthday and will be back soon!! Our server was Conner and they made our first experience here great!! They accommodated our later arrival and kept the kitchen open for us. Parking wasn’t a big issue, and it’s close enough to downtown Detroit. The ambiance, food and customer service is 10/10!!!

Takoi exceeds excellence, and that's an understatement. As far as overall dining experiences go, this is the best dining experience I've had in Detroit when considering holistically for food, ambience, quality of service, and price relative to the value received. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the restaurant is operated beautifully and seamlessly. Whoever designed the restaurant, from how the food is inspected before being served to how the payment stations are strategically placed so that you don't have to wait forever for your check, to how the dining room is small enough to where your server can't lose track of you, must've had some sort of background in Lean Six Sigma and process improvement. I've never seen a restaurant run this efficiently before. It was amazing and impressive to watch. You know a restaurant is top-notch when you ask your server what her favorite restaurant is in the area, and she answers "honestly - this one."

Last note - Emily, our server, was outstanding. Management should reward her with a raise or some sort of recognition. The entire staff was so friendly. We'll definitely be back.

We came back on 28 May 2022. It was even better than we remembered. Emily was our server again and did a fantastic job. Everything was excellent, but the coconut ice cream was so good that there weren't any words to describe it. It may be the best thing I've ever eaten.

Exceptional experience worth experiencing! Prepare your taste buds for the rich vibrant spicy flavors. Takoi is different in an amazing way. I enjoyed all it and will definitely return for another visit. Make reservations because this quaint place fills up quick.

So sad it took me so long to come here. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Excellent drinks and very quick service! I could have ordered one of everything.

Takoi is one of the very few Thai places I’ve been to that has the original thai chili spice. Food was quick and had a very well balanced flavor. Service is quick and clean. Papaya salad and crispy bbq ribs were top notch.
This place def gets noisy at peak times so not a good idea if planning for a quiet/quieter meal.

One of the all time favorite place in the D. Great fusion Thai restaurant. Been here few times and it’s amazing how they maintain the standard. Service is exceptional as always. Highly recommended
