Winterset Park Nature Area

I finally visited after walking a section of Rock Island this morning. Follow the sidewalk past the playgrounds and ball diamonds, and cross the bridge....there you are!
This would be a great place to take young children for a hike/outdoor experience fitting for their age and temperament. It is certainly a chance to experience the natural world for young eyes, and perhaps get them more interested in such activities as they grow. It's fun and well kept!
It's a great experience, though it is a bit too little for a more seasoned hiker/adventurer.

A beautiful place and wonderfully kept! The wife and I had a wonderful time walking the path and even climbing down to the stream. The ice was just beginning to melt in the water was flowing, it was a very beautiful sight!

Not often in the area do you find yourself walking down a trail and deer are just minding their own business munching on trees. Some areas are heavily wooded and you forget how close to a busy road you are. Friendly people and some stop and chat. I’ve seen police cruise through the area too.

Lovely close little outing!!! I heard there are multiple access points but we went passed restrooms/playground equipment towards the right, right across the bridge, then left on the trail which if you follow takes ya right to the creek. There's a great, stair-like tree access for littles, just as the trail bends back to the right. It is late June 2020 & it's busy, but not overcrowded. Definitely try it out!

Took a walk with my dog on the Rock Island trail. Very clean and well-maintained. We crossed a couple of fun little creeks.

Winterset Park Nature Area is actually just part of Charles Hartman Park(Main Park) in which you can find here three softball fields and walking or biking around the whole field is awesome. There I also a great park for kids from 3 to 12 years old. Rest room is available also. This is also part of Rock Island Trail here in Missouri.

Great for hiking ! Alot of places you can just blaze your own trail and find some beautiful spots in nature .

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place. Me and my kids enjoy coming here. The trails and playground is Very clean and the people around are very friendly. And the little swim hole is AMAZING.

We love this nature area, connected to a playground, baseball fields and the Rock Island Trail (14 mile trail for biking, walking/running). So many things to do at this 1 location!

Beautiful area for a hike and nature! I love that it connects to other trails so you can continue!

We went a little off the trail to the creek and that's where the kids (8, 10) really had a fun time.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful, beautiful water features, really fun park toys for the kids, great walking trail, just a ton of fun for parks. The entrance is very easy to miss though.

Great little park with a swimming creek. Wish people would clean up afterwards though...

This is our family's favorite local place to go outside, and enjoy nature.

This place is sooo pretty and such a great place to swim and have the kids explore but be prepared to bring your water shoes because the rocks in and outside of the swimming hole are serious! Also you have to park where the park is and then walk down past the park following side walk to the back of the baseball field and you will then see a brown bridge to the right in the woods you want to go on that bridge and follow the trail and when the trail splits go to the left and then u will walk right into the river area but if u want to get to the swimming hole quicker then walking down through rocks and water exploring just turn to the right and in a foot or two you will see two more paths down to the swimming hole !!

Cute park. Great little hike area. Trail gets a little muddy, but nothing you can't get around.

Trail is about a mile long. Creek is usually clean and clear. I enjoy going here to look at nature.

Beautiful. Easy to forget you're in the city
