Shortwave Coffee

Shortwave Coffee in Alley A is an absolute gem! It looks small from the outside, but it's surprisingly spacious inside. The warm wood theme throughout creates a unique and cozy ambiance. With plenty of seating, it's the perfect place to get some work done. The in-house roaster is phenomenal. I had an Ethiopian pour-over that was out of this world. I've been to the larger 9th Street location, which is also fantastic, but there's something special about this original spot. Easily the best coffee in Columbia, Missouri, with some of the best flavor profiles I've ever tasted.

This place is awesome. I've checked out several coffee shops across the region, and Shortwave stands out for having incredible coffee, tea, and the perfect ambience for studying and hanging. I definitely enjoy the jazzy atmosphere and chill vibes for getting some work done or catching up with a friend. The moroccan mint ice tea was super good as well.

This is by far one of my favorite coffee shops in Columbia. The coffee and food are consistently good and their cold brew is better than any other coffee shops in my opinion. The atmosphere is very laid back and a great place to get work done. There is a little background noise from peoples conversations and soft music playing. There is plenty of seating and it is located right downtown so I can easily walk there and back. Staff is very friendly and does their job.

Recently stopped by this hidden gem. Had their single source Ethiopian pour-over and a cappuccino - both were spot on! The space is also great for settling in and getting some work done. Highly recommend for both the brew and the ambiance.

This is a treasure hidden in Alley A between 9th and 10th street. I ordered the cardamom latte, but they were out of cardamom syrup. I opted for a safe choice: caramel latte. It was delicious and beautiful and perfectly flavored; not too sweet. Then I heard the barista pitching the positives of a lavender latte, so I ordered one. It was so delicate! It had a light aroma of lavender a slightly sweet, creamy taste that was very pleasing. The baristas were so nice, helpful, and informed about the products offered. I will definitely be back to try the cardamom latte!

My wife had a latte and love it. I have an Ethiopian v60 and it was delightful!

The seating was spacious and comfortable- the outlets were endless and available. This is a remote worker or college students dream.

Do yourself a flavor favor- say no to a longwave, but yes to a shortwave. ☕👍🏽

My favorite coffee place in Columbia. I believe world peace could be achieved if our leaders were to share a latte here while deliberating on the sofas in the back.

This place is an amazing little coffee shop, definitely worth the effort to find. Great service from a local, family-owned business, and a charming atmosphere with everything you'd want in a coffee shop. I'll definitely make this a regular stop each time I'm in the area!

What an amazing experience we had at Shortwave Coffee. The atmosphere the coffee and the staff were wonderful. Lindsay created me a custom, one of a kind teddy bear Cortada. OMG it tasted even better than it looked if you can believe that! Thank you Lindsay and Caroline for your excellent service and making us feel so welcome in your beautiful city. ❤❤☕☕

Bought a bag of whole beans here, the 5x5 blend, and it was awesome the whole way through. Usually a bag "dies out" like a week in to opening it but this stuff continued to pull amazing shots the whole time (photo attached). They also offered a free drink with the purchase of a bag which would be awesome to capitalize on if I lived in the area. It's a cool experience walking into the alley and then descending down into the shop, and it's deceivingly big in there. The people on there were very helpful and someone was just vibin roasting fresh beans, adding to the chill yet industrial ambiance.

Best Cold Brew in CoMo! Their beans are roasted fresh in-house. Cool downtown space with lots of comfortable seating and a great place to study. Check em out in Alley A!

Great lattes, espresso, pour over. Some of the best prepared coffee I've had, better than the vast majority of third wave coffee shops I've been to in NYC, Chicago, Seattle, etc. Their baristas/roasters are legit. Highly recommended.

Super cute coffe place hidden in an alleyway. Great service and they have decaf and dairy free options too! I got a vanilla lavendar almond milk iced latte and it was delicious!

Shortwave is one of the best coffee shops in town. I always love getting either a vanilla chai or a cardamom drink. Very very tasty and delicious. You can definitely taste the excellent quality In the drinks unlike other local coffee shops around town. The pastries 🍰 are amazing too! The coffee drinks are well worth the price you pay and is consistent most of the time I go. Thanks for the excellent coffee and service shortwave!

Great atmosphere! The coffee, Peruvian, is one of the best I’ve had. A great place to get some emails and work accomplished.

Great place for a cup of coffee or tea. Has one of the best London Fogs.
Staff was very sweet and helpful.

I was in visiting with my daughter and needed a good cup of coffee. This place was a little tough to find, I first stopped into a shop on the main drag, it was busy and the wait long so I stepped out and found Shortwave in the alley. I’m glad I did! It’s a funky little place but it’s the best coffee I have had in a long time. The shop has a lot of character, the staff was friendly and the coffee fantastic! ☕

Amazing selection of light roast coffees and teas. Staff is full of knowledgable, friendly baristas and roasters.
