Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches

Do yourself a favor and go to this shop! We were just passing through and found this highest google rated sandwich shop in KC. When I tell you this was the best, most unique sandwich style I have ever had, I mean it. And I only got a turkey sandwich! The dutch crunch bread is AMAZING. I will be making a point to come here every time we travel to KC.

The bread here is amazing! Crispy outside but soft on the inside, and the sandwiches themselves are the best I've had.

Excellent stuff. Chill atmosphere. Fun staff. Sandwich was borderline excellent. Not an overwhelming portion size, but very worth a visit.

This is The Gobbler Sandwich. Boar's Head honey smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, fire roasted red pepper, green leaf lettuce and chipotle mayo.

I usually wouldn't consider myself a "sandwich" person but Bay Boy completely changed my opinion. The sandwiches are truly wonderful! Bay Boy had been hyped and I was worried about the sandwiches falling flat and ended up with the complete opposite reaction. I am now craving Bay Boy and planning my next trip for the best sandwich in Kansas City!

Bonus points: easy street parking, fun atmosphere, great service, delicious cookies, unique toppings

Looking for something out of the ordinary for lunch with a friend in the Plaza/Midtown area. Googled "Best Sandwiches in KC" and hit Bay Boy. A little hard to find, and parking is a bit of a challenge, but well worth it. Both of us had the signature "Bay Boy" sandwich, which is salami with mayo, mustard and garlic sauce on a delicious house-made roll. Very delicious. Friendly people. Unique setting. Highly recommended.

Creative combinations for sandwiches that you otherwise wouldn’t think of. It was excellent. I had the Bandit and it was a perfect blend of flavors. The buns were toasted perfectly where it’s soft but crispy on the outside. Will totally go back.

I got takeout from here so can’t comment on atmosphere really but we got everything we ordered!

Ordered the Hot Pastrami after finding this place looking specifically for a good pastrami sandwich. I HIT THE JACKPOT HERE. Every layer of my sandwich was a delightful mouth-watering treat. It was so juicy, crispy, tangy, and curbed my craving so quickly that I almost ordered a second sandwich after I finished my first. In town for the weekend and seriously considering coming back for dinner just to try another sandwich.

On top of the yummy food, the staff were friendly, personable, and fun to match the cool atmosphere of the dining area. 11/10 would recommend.

I’ve been coming here for years, and it continues to be consistent and delicious! I like the standard veggie sandwich or the Bandit with extra raspberry jam and extra horseradish. The BayBoy team is always friendly and hardworking.

I just had the BEST sandwich of my life. I had not been in the area in years. They have expanded. They are a very smooth operation. One place for carry out orders. Another place to eat in. I think my sandwich was called the Nebraskan. Roast Beef with a bit of horseradish and a bit of jelly and A LOT of delicious…. GO! ENJOY!

An excellent sandwich joint. Tasteful classic options and clever specialty choices on a unique vessel of toasted dutch crunch rolls. They have classic gaming consoles with rockband and guitar hero plus guitar controllers and battle of the bands events on the schedule. Highly recommended.

I ordered the flaming chicken bacon ranch and was very pleased. The spice level actually has some kick so that was great. Sandwich was balanced and not too tall or slipping off the bun.

My sandwich was amazing. I had a salmon sandwich with a dill cream cheese sauce that was fabulous! I was disappointed that they ran out of lobster rolls but my sandwich was worth the wait in line. There is a reason this place is ranked #1 sandwich shop in Kansas City. It is so good. The pastrami sandwich and the BLAT are also amazing. Love the new seating area also.

Full honesty here - visiting from out of town and was directed here by the insane amount of love this place gets from reddit. Normally, when places are hyped, they fail to live up to expectations. Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches blows those expectations out of the water. The Bandit is easily the best sandwich I've ever had. Once we were done, I contemplated ordering another so I didn't have to go another moment without it. The bread is delicious, the toppings are well thought out, the service was welcoming and friendly. I look forward to my next trip through town only because of this fantastic sandwich shop. Definitely the best sandwich in Kansas City!

Googled best sandwiches in KC. We were not disappointed! Highly recommend. All the employees clearly take pride in the quality of their sandwiches. Homemade bread. Two of us shared 3 sandwiches—Bay Boy, Meatball, and The Bandit. We ate inside the restaurant—met the owner, who was working. Great, casual experience. Currently fighting over the leftovers! We will for sure be back next time we’re in KC.

Oh my gosh these sandwiches are da bomb. I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch. Wife got the Jefe. Highly recommend!

Great food and staff. I would highlight the bread for the sandwiches. Amazing taste. I tried the cuban and my wife had the gobbler, plus had an assortment of cookies. It's kind of tucked off the main street and is a hidden neighborhood gem. Definitely give them a try!

I knew this place was going to be special before I walked in and tasted their sandwiches. I had the bandit sandwich and to tell you the truth... I could of ate 2 sandwiches they were so delicious. They have a good thing going at that Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches. I will be back with friends and I hope more of KC finds and tries what a great sandwich truly is...🧡

This is my favorite sandwich shop in Country Club Plaza area. The owner (Jake) was very friendly and courteous! He took time to go over different type of sandwiches with us and explained in details about the ingredients and meats in the sandwiches we wanted to order. We all finished our sandwiches and they were super yummy and delicious! Jake told us they make their bread fresh every morning! Highly recommend trying this place.

Simply delicious sandwiches. Full disclosure I've known the owners for many years before their foray into food.

There's a lot about the bread, but honestly I could do without it. I'm not much for crunchy bread (sorry Ju). If I'm at one of the other sandwich places and they ask me if I wanted it toasted I spit in disgust.

What I come for is what's between the buns. With the right amount of salt, fat, acid, and a touch of heat every sandwich is a masterclass in balanced flavors. I don't know any better way to put it.

Oh and they have options for veggie lovers and pescatarians too.

Oh and I hear people like the bread.
