Boones Pickins

We were very pleased with this restaurant for our family of 6. We stopped in late, around 7:30 pm and they were sold out of several items, but we all had a great meal with excellent service. The brisket was amazing!! Cole slaw was awesome too. Would definitely recommend stopping here for a great home cooked meal.

Comfort. That is what we needed, and Boones offered us the warmest comfy atmosphere, and our meal was tender, delicious, and satisfying.
We were at the end of a long day in the middle of a trying experience, away from our home, staying nearby.
We had driven over to try another place, which was closed, and we were working on our plan B when, like little moths to a flame, we were drawn into the warm light from Boones.
We walked in with curiosity and an open mind, not knowing a single detail about the place.
We slid into the thick wooden booth and within a few seconds we had icy cold drinks and our order was placed.
We spent just a few minutes processing our day, and our food arrived.
Farmer got burnt ends, I chose brisket. Both were amazing.
Apart from the beef, the corn pudding is a star. Would have to buy it by the gallon if we lived here.
Our server was wonderful, giving us the perfect combination of attention and solitude.
We will be back, every time we visit!

This was our first time eating in this family run establishment. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The chef/ cook came out to ask how everything was. This food is so delicious and homemade. We will definitely eat here again! I highly recommend this small business to people traveling through or staying a few days. Get out of the chain restaurants and try this great place. 5 stars!

Great place for BBQ. Staff is so friendly. Kid friendly with games you can play while waiting for food. We always leave with extra food.

We stopped in after a long drive back from northern Kansas where we braved the snow and cold. David mentioned Bierocks. I was in.

Small intimate and friendly place. The wooden booths and chairs created a very welcoming space. The staff called the patrons by name.

Fast friendly service. The food was delicious. The bierocks tasted just like my grandmothers. The bread was tender and fluffy. Not overwhelming.

I would highly recommend this place.

On my visit, I tried burnt ends and pulled pork. Both were incredibly delicious and flavorful. The burnt ends were covered in bark that you just don't see at other BBQ stops in the area. The pulled pork had so much flavor on its own that it almost felt wrong to cover any of it with sauce.
The location is small and cozy, and that is not a negative to me. With that comes extremely attentive service! There are so many sides to choose from on this menu, and you can't go wrong with anything you pick. The Mac & Cheese was simply fantastic.
Worth a drive to come here, no matter if you live in West Wichita or even farther.

Don't let the outside of the building fool you when you drive up once you see the inside very cool looking place. The staff is friendly and the food taste great and very reasonably priced so you can try various items.

Excellent place for barbecue and homemade chicken and noodles! It’s a small place but has a nice Americana decor. The food is consistently good and the cobblers are great. If you love barbecue and home cooking, this is the place for you. P.S. they play classic tv on their tv set which the kids love (i.e. The Andy Griffith Show and The Munsters are some examples).

We've been here twice. Both times great smoked meats. Hasn't been dry or overdone yet! Brisket, turkey, baked beans, all good. New food to try was corn pudding. Was tasty, interesting, sweet, who knew!?! I liked it, my husband loves it. We will return!!

Not only do they have the best barbecue, but they offer specials. They have a good selection on their menu. Relaxing and very friendly. I got the chicken and noodles to go for the next days meal.

Some of the best barbecue I've ever had. I ordered burnt ends and ribs and both were delicious. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend!

We tried the pulled pork and the third of ribs with Potato salad, Coleslaw, Pea Salad, and the Mac-n-Cheese. Everything was amazing!!! All of the sides were full of flavor, which I feel can be hard to find. The ribs had such good flavor and were very tender, the pulled pork was juicy and delicious. The pea salad was so good, we are going to find a recipe to try and imitate it! The lady who greeted us was so friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. We ordered a couple beirocks to go and they were delicious, the bread was so soft and the filling was perfect!!

The 2 meat sandwich with burnt ends and hot link with potato wedges was delicious! The sandwich didn't need sauce since it was full of flavor! The service and atmosphere at this restaurant is very enjoyable! I can't wait to return and try their Bierocks. *Update. The Bierocks are served warm and super flavorful!!! I definitely recommend them!!

We stopped for lunch on Christmas Eve — it was nice that their Facebook had a timely post so we knew they’d be open. Burnt end sandwiches were delicious. I liked the hot bbq sauce and baked bean sides the most. The service and atmosphere was very friendly and family-style.

I stopped here for dinner one night during a week long road trip. Hands down the best food I had all week. I was hoping to go back for lunch the next day but had to leave town before they opened. If I'm ever back in Wichita this will be my first stop. Excellent food at a great price with exceptional service.

The burnt ends were awesome and they were so tender that they almost melt in your mouth. The ribs had just the right bite, not overcooked. The brisket was also tender and flavorful. All the meats we tried can stand on their own but the hot bbq sauce was top notch too. A few surprises like real mashed potatoes and chicken and noodles offer some real opportunities for comfort food. The owner was nice and he definitely has a gift for BBQ! For us it was a great meal and a great experience!

I really love the atmosphere it matches the delicious food that Boones family serves up. You will appreciate this BBQ place just as I appreciate the hard work and love Laura puts into her dishes. I have been eating their food for awhile now, but it was the first time I was able to visit their establishment. I highly recommend this family / faith based restaurant. So, call them Wed-Sat 11-8pm and sometimes you can catch them on Tues :) Oh' and Don't forget to call ahead, because there is a good chance they might be sold out if your favorites. Don't forget to try the Garlic ColeSlaw and the Chicken N Noodles :)
