Shields Date Garden

The date shake was delicious! Their date products are very fresh. We enjoyed the walk around the farm seeing their date palms and other interesting trees. Will try their date icecream next.

I really enjoyed this place!! We were visiting Palm Springs and this was on our way. They have a restaurant and store that sells of all sorts of date related things. I loved the garden views. They have beautiful sculptures of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

Delicious, educational, and just interesting place to have breakfast! Delighted in the bacon wrapped dates before strolling through the botanical garden to learn what our favorite fruits look like when they grow. Also enjoyed reading through the sculpturally depicted stations of the cross.

We loved our whole experience here. The restaurant was lovely with the patio seating and the food was also very good. The staff was so kind! The date shake is a must have- so save sone room!
But the best part was the complete walk through of the garden. We found that if you start at the beginning it is much more meaningful and as you continue through it it get more and more beautiful. The grounds were just so beautiful. Definitely give yourself 30 minutes to walk through the whole thing!

Driven by several times and finally stopped. So glad we did. The cafe is so nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The ground beef omelette was amazing. Enjoyed the live music. Will definitely be back.

Exactly the same as it was 20 years ago when I was a kid! Got to watch the movie again today for the first time in like 10 years and still enjoyed it too. Plus those date shakes are always worth a stop!

Such a unique experience! You MUST try the date shake and date pancakes. The little store is cute. Also, you MUST take “The Walk” - you won’t regret it.

Not a big date fan but thought I'd go to see. Very nice gardens, friendly staff. I loved the coffee flavored date shake. Wasn't overly sweet and it was very satisfying.

My first time at Shields Date Garden and it did not disappoint! Service was prompt and well versed in the menu and being able to give suggestions. So fresh, appealing and delicious.

We visited the garden, did the self-guided tour, watched the little video about date palms, and of course tried the date shake.
The garden tour has date palms scattered, but when it is the off season, they are not much to look at, so just know that the garden is mostly trees of various fruits, date palms, and some pretty cool biblical sculptures, which we quite enjoyed!
The video in the little theatre is super helpful to watch before going for the walk, that's the most educational part as far as date palms go, and it was very interesting! (*When you learn the process and time it takes to grow dates, you'll realize that dates are not overpriced at all.)
The date shake was pricey but really yummy. We split one and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The video, garden walk, and browsing the store probably took around 1.5 hrs. Be sure to buy some dates, we got bahri and they were incredible!

Good food, odd kitsch, awesome date shakes (sounds weird but actually super good!). If you're nearby definitely do it!

Wish I had taken pictures, presentation was lovely and food was interesting and flavorful. My favorite dish was the signature date salad with nuts, fresh blue cheese, pears and more. Crab cakes were okay, but I’ve had much better. The ahi salad was okay, but didn’t flip my switch. The chicken wings were really tasty. Al fresco dining and soft live music made it a memorable experience and then we walked in the gardens.

Nice free garden to walk around and enjoy. Lots of statues tell the story of Jesus; but also lots of plants, trees and descriptive info.

Gift shop with great ice cream, dates and other gift shop goodies.

The date shakes are great. Some think they are too sweet. The ice cream is also great. They will be a hundred years next year.

Great shakes and ice cream! We also bought a sample pack of dates and they were all delicious! The garden was a nice walk with statues showing the life of Jesus. There is also plaques explaining my some of the different trees. They don’t explain the date farming process or anything which would have been nice. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but it looked nice.

An absolutely amazing restaurant and gift shop, this place and its date garden have been around for many years on this location. My half pound waygu burger was amazing and too large to finish, with home done onion rings. Salads were huge and tasty; we just wished we had time to visit again. Service was what you'd expect, attentive and friendly . Ate on the patio on a lovely day in winter near Palm Springs.

Holy date shake, Batman!! The food was great! The staff was great! The variety of items is awesome. The garden was impressive. I definitely recommend the visit!!!!

I’m so glad to make my husband drove all the way here from Palm Spring to just have the date shake !! I like dates for a starter and not my husband but I’m so glad I changed his mind after he tried on my date shakes and now he is telling every friends about this place when ever we were asked about our palm spring trip.

The shake is a delish and not very sweet and tasted a little like caramel. Bought some of the date paste they used for the shake and date butter home from the store to try it out.

Make this your pit stop if you are exiting Joshua Tree National Park from south gate.

"The walk" is worth the visit if for some reason you don"t like fresh dates and every known date product known to woman kind. Inspirational biblical and botanical walk around the beautiful property.
