El Mexicali Cafe

It's a small hole in the wall restaurant near the train tracks with wonderful food and drinks! Love the chili's with shrimp, chicken tacos, and of course a magarita! One of the desert favorites that will not disappoint.

Always consistently outstanding and authentic. Again and again, each time we visit the food is outstanding and the staff treats us like family. It's always a treat to us. The shrimp salad in particular is one of the top two i've ever tasted in my life. El Mexicali is a special place and unique dining experience that is absolutely authentic.

We Love this Place....come try the mexicali sampler and the chile hueros with shrimp....U will not be disappointed. Authentic Mexican food at its best

Stopped off on our way from the Salton Sea to Palm Springs. So glad we did!

The shrimp stuffed jalapeños, are a must!! Even our party member that’s not a huge fan of spicy foods had not trouble eating ( so don’t be nervous if you think it might be too hot )!

The sauce on the fish tacos, incredible!

Plenty of parking and outside seating for dining. The staff is more than happy to help you figure out their favorites!

Really good food. Serves chips and salsa. We had one of their most famous appetizers called “yellow peppers” stuffed with shrimp. It was delicious, and had a kick to it spice wise. Service was just as good.

Must try if you are passing by! Had a shrimp stuffed pepper and delicious pork with their special green sauce. Was in and out within 40 mins- great service, which I truly appreciate. Thank you!!

Combinacion Fajitas are the best! Very fulfilling. Its a small inside but lots of room outside if you don't mind the sound of the train if it passes by. The customer service was amazing everyone is so friendly. Definitely going back so delicious 😋

Highly recommend this place. Drivers traveling on the I-10 it is not far to exit freeway for a good plate of home made food.

The food was delicious and the salsa tasted great. The best I've ever had so far. It was spicy and fruity. Yum. This is a local restaurant in the neighborhood a well kept secret. It's small but can get very crowded quickly.

The food was delicious; it definitely tasted like real Mexican food. I was hesitant at first but I'm glad my friend took us there. I had a Huevos rancheros plate and was very happy with it. The service was amazing as well; it felt like home.

I stopped opposite the road to change tire in tire shop and noticed this cafe! I recommend to everyone! 30$ for beer and portion of seafood that I barely fit it inside))))

Chili gueritos were great as was Edith our server. Very small inside although they do have outdoor seating on a busy boulevard and train tracks running behind.

Great food. We always make our stop when we are in town for boxing events or concerts at the Fantasy Casino.
