Spa Montage Laguna Beach

Neal did my massage and I told him about my back pain. It was a hot stone massage but went above and beyond by going deep tissue into my shoulder and back. He even recommended some stretches for home. 10/10 would return and recommend!

This review and rating is specifically for a massage therapist Eva C. On Dec 2nd, Eva worked a miracle on me. I've had a bad shoulder for over a year and a half. I couldn't reach for anything and doing small chores around the house were very painful. Despite almost 6 month of PT and multiple massage session it was Eva who in just 60 minutes took care of my problem. I left there not sure how I would be feeling but I woke up the next day 90% better and almost 6 weeks later I am still doing well. I want to Thank Eva C. so hopefully she will read this review. Thank you Eva from the bottom of my heart for working on my shoulder and making it feel better when everything else had failed. You are the angel I was waiting for. Also to Eva's manager, she's a gem!!

As far as the SPA, everyone was very friendly, the atmosphere wonderful, from the locker room to the waiting area. I can't comment on the shower area or the other facilities as I did not use them

Shoutout to Bradley for the most incredible massage I’ve ever had - and to Brittany for a facial that was so relaxing I fell asleep twice. To ALL the spa staff, we had an amazing time and can’t wait to come back for another full day of pampering.

Massage and facilities were great. My experience was subpar mainly because the person at the front desk was incompetent. Here are the reasons:

1) There was a 20% "service charge" that is not disclosed upfront. I asked the front desk person if this included gratuity. She told me that it was not gratuity and did not go to the masseuse. So, I paid a tip on top of the service charge -- making my $275 massage $360. I later found out from my friend that the front desk person was all wrong, 15% of the service charge does go to the masseuse.

2) The woman did not tell me or make any effort to validate my valet parking upon check in. My friend was offered validation upon check--in. I did not know this until much later.

3) I was apparently supposed to get an offer of champagne upon check in. I did not. So I had to pay for my own glass.

All in all, this incompetent women cost me over $100 in extra payments.

My wonderful daughter recently treated me to a spa day for my birthday at the Montage. The setting could not be more beautiful at the Montage. It is absolutely gorgeous there! Unfortunately, we did not indicate preference for gender of masseuse when booking online. We did however get a phone call the day before that confirmed I was scheduled with a female masseuse. Upon arrival, however, we were told both of us were scheduled with males. There was a lot of back and forth, but they were unable to change. Danielle, I assume a manager, ensured me that Neil was top notch. I am sorry to say my massage was good, but not great. He did not ask if his pressure was good or check in during the massage. Danielle and Neil seem like they are going through the motions. They are friendly, but there is no real personal depth or engagement here. This place is BUSY! There are so many groups in and out. I don’t think I have ever been in a busier spa. Perhaps that explains the lack luster vibe. They grouped lockers together instead of spacing them out. We were literally on top of each other in the changing area. There is no music in the changing area and the voices of the help were very loud. Not sure this is a very ZEN environment. My daughter did rave about her massage and seemed to really enjoy her masseuse. The lounge area is okay. Again, it was VERY crowded. The jacuzzi and cold plunge, steam room and sauna all nice offerings. Overall, for the price I am sure my daughter paid, I am sorry to say it was disappointing.

I booked a couples 60 minute reflexology massage for my girlfriend and myself. I live locally and have been to The Studio restaurant about 10 times before they closed during covid.
I was extremely disappointed for the following reasons:
- the massage table was extremely hot and uncomfortable.

- during the massage, the doors to the couples massage room was open since it was a beautiful day. Unfortunately, we had to listen to 5 minutes of the local trash disposal truck emptying dumpers. Not quite the serene experience.
- upon arrival, we were told there was a 20% surcharge/gratuity added to the bill without any prior knowledge.
I would not recommend the service at this spa. It's a beautiful facility but certainly not worth the $660 charge.
