New Moon Café

This week I had the best meal of my entire life. And that's coming from a real foodie. My partner and my friend and I went to New Moon for dinner or we have always enjoyed ourselves but this was even better than usual. Our waiter, Pascal served us with flair and humor. He was just a delight. The pear and blue cheese salad had a great combination of sweet and savory crunchy and creamy in a perfectly light dressing. I had the Halibut with mashed potatoes and vegetables which was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My dinner companions enjoyed the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and an extra order of cornbread. We all agreed the mashed potatoes were the best we ever had and the steak was unparalleled and cooked to perfection. We finished our meal by sharing the Cherry sorbet and the Stout chocolate layer cake. I enjoyed a couple glasses of delicious Russian River Valley chardonnay. All in all a perfect meal in a beautiful setting with great service. Don't miss it when you are in Nevada City. It's especially nice for date night or any kind of intimate Gathering.

Wonderful experience! We had a gift card, so for my husband's birthday, we decided to get fancy take-out from New Moon. Delicious food, excellent service, I highly recommend this place if you want to splurge on a nice dinner. I really appreciate how health conscious they are during the pandemic, especially in a town where that isn't the norm, as someone who's being extra cautious, I felt very safe getting food from this establishment. I called multiple times the day before to place our order, and the man who answered the phone was incredibly kind, patient, gracious, and helpful. The food was amazing, my steak was so tender and the salad was the perfect blend of flavors and textures. I also really appreciated that they package the food in oven safe containers with re-heating instructions for a high-end take out experience. Its hard to pull off high end take out food, but New Moon does it really well. Thank you!

Fantastic chef and great staff. The food is always delicious. I wish they were returned to offering free olives for the table. I have not gone here during the pandemic or many places. When I would drive through Nevada City Winery too many people without masks. Therefore I don't even get out of my car in that town. I feel badly, because I do want to support local businesses. If I drive through town and I see more people wearing masks, I might Dine Outdoors. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is well worth it. You always know it is money well spent and locally-sourced delicious food will be brought to your table buy very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

This restaurant far surpasses the idea of what fine dining and elegance purvey in the culinary world. Set in a beautiful small town, it raises the bar of what is perceived as local and conscious blended with ultimate taste, done to perfection!
The owners are hospitable and personally add a feeling of complete ease and welcome as I entered this establishment, as if I was walking into their homes!

High quality, organic, delicious food. This is probably the best or one of the best restaurants in Nevada County. The food is incredible and always tasted good whatever you get. The prices are more on the expensive side, but it is definintely worth it for a high quality and delicious meal! I would highly recommend!

It's out of my normal price range (about $20 for lunch) but I have a friend who likes to take me out here. Every time the food is great and the staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The owner is always there and actually seems to remember me, making it a warm and welcoming place.

Great local upscale dining. Impeccable service worthy wine list. Locally sourced internationally influenced. Don't park in the Alfa Romeo parking space unless you have it. Try the beet salad at lunch.

Looks fancy, but is a very mellow vibe. Food is pricey, but worth it every time. Most recently we had the ravioli of the day and ribs, and they were amazing!!

I had lunch for the 1st time here and it was just a wonderful experience and a delicious lunch. I had a quesadia with a great salad and it was best I've ever had. Great comfortable warm atmosphere with very sweet waitress. I hope you go there!

Attentive and knowledgeable service all the way from door to cashier. Seasonal halibut, line-caught, was tender and flavorful. Flat beans on the side, crisp-tender, mashed potatoes, pistachio pesto sauce all turned out to be perfect accompaniments. A large, Mexican sope was treated California-style, topped with sweet potato and a red sauce, flanked by think sliced avocado and accompanied by broccoflower braised to just the right, tender crunch. With ginger beer from the UK (American brewers take note this ginger beer does NOT include citric acid as an ingredient!), dessert, tea, tip, and tax, we paid about $134.

Food was amazing. Service was great. The environment was nice. Unfortunately some of the food options were unavailable. Other than that, it was a lovely place.

Excellent dinners, scallops and sea bass. Vegetables are delightful. Service is wonderful. Our favorite restaurant in Nevada City.

Excellent service, first rate food, presentation the best. However the noise level was awful. Couldn't carry on a conversation.

Just ate the best crab cake I've ever tasted and best meal I've had since the start of the pandemic. Don't know how they pull it off as takeout, but I'm sure glad they do.

I have dined there several times and recently went there for my birthday, great atmosphere, unique and professional staff, incredible food, as always, our waitress was learning french, nice lady.

Always attentive wait staff and innovative, organic food. I'd prefer a few more meat-free options but I'm happy to eat at New Moon anytime.
