Taqueria El Taco Loco

I stopped into this Restaurant after a hike I did nearby and I’m so glad I did! I had the Quesabirria Tacos, omg they’re the best tacos to ever taco! Seriously though, they are so delicious! Go get some!!!

who would’ve thought nevada city would have such great food! thoroughly impressed by this taqueria — free chips and salsa, amazing street tacos and great service. would come back when passing by!

carne asada: a solid carne asada, great ratios and well made tortilla

Wow! Mexican food perfection! I ordered the tostada mixta with octopus and shrimp as well as 4 quesabirria tacos with dipping broth. Every single thing we ate was incredibly delicious. The most impressive thing to us besides the freshness was how every single ingredient was discernable in the dishes. Sometimes a single ingredient will overpower a dish and will obscure the flavors of the other ingredients - not here! Amazing! Even the corn chips were crispy, light, and had just enough oil to fry them. The salsa bar has about ten different salsas and foods. SO fresh, SO delicious and vibrant. There were about 6 seafood dishes that I've never heard of before! This place will delight your taste buds! Very friendly and helpful service.

Love this place. The whole menu is amazing. I personally like all the soups, fish tacos. Can't go wrong with an asada burrito. Fresh salsa bar and chips while you wait. You gotta try to Cucumber Pineapple Fresca juice!!! So good!!

We found ourselves vacationing in the Nevada City area last week and in our research learned that this spot had good food. I must say, we were happily impressed by just how good the food and service was. Their Super Burrito is excellent - honestly one of the best I've ever had across the US. My wife loved her enchiladas and we both enjoyed their salsa's. Also, their Jalapeno Dip was so addictive! The folks working at this spot were very gracious hosts, check this spot out!

Favorite Mexican food in Nevada County.

I have a couple recommendations though:

1) Provide a plain sour cream option.
2) Almost nobody likes guacamole with tomatoes or onions in it - it makes it 'soupy'. Keep it simple. The best guac should be thick and chunky, with salt and pepper, maybe a little minced garlic and lime at most.

Passing through Nevada city - 2 delicious al pastor tacos, great salsa bar, refreshing agua fresca, and super-attentive service- top 3 (or higher) Mexican food in my life. Can they open one in Boise?

The quesabirria tacos were delicious and had large pieces of steak. Couldn’t get enough of the red salsa with chips. They also allow dogs at the outside patio seating. Parking is limited since it is downtown.

Their rating is very well deserved!

This place has improved in quality of food a lot since the changeover. Free chips and amazing salsa. There are lots of menu options and great beer!

This is excellent Mexican food. We were very surprised at how good it was. My son got these shredded beef tacos “quesabirria” that were dipped in a sauce that were excellent. My husband got crispy tacos that were good and I got the posole soup which was excellent also. We will definitely return.

Dang it I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was delicious. We went with a nice sized group and they were able to put some tables together. I got the Baja fish tacos and they were delicious. They put a really good Chipotle aioli on them. My wife got the chicken fajitas which were also good. Definitely recommend this place

The carne asada with shrimp taco was my favorite one.

Our go to Mexican food in Nevada City / Grass Valley. The food is authentic and the service is great.

I eat here all the time the birria is amazing the salsa bar is popping and the people are really nice

There have been multiple Mexican restaurants in this location and this is my favorite so far. Their el-pastor is delicious and the polo asado street tacos are great! Make sure you try the spicy sour cream sauce on whatever you order.
P.S. try the flan !
