In December of 2021 I caught an error on my property tax statement. I paid on-line and noticed the mailing address wasn’t mine! I didn't notice it before because my mortgage Co. would handle the payments. I found out my information along with the reassessment of my home was never updated because of a glitch that occurred in 2018 when The Assessor's Office updated their system. One week later I received three property tax bills totaling almost $10,000 due by May 30, 2022!

I’d like to inform anyone who purchased a home in 2018 to make sure your information has been properly updated with the County Assessors Office and the Tax Collector. If you are a victim of the glitch, and God forbid you're unable to pay all the back taxes, your house will go into foreclosure and sold at auction! It doesn’t matter if you were a victim of this glitch, there is no leniency.

I was never informed by the Assessor's Office. It was gross negligence on their part. This could've easily destroyed me! I’m only glad I caught it then and not now because the only way I could come up with that kind of money, I would have to refinance my home. And with the way the interest rates are right now, I wouldn't be able to keep my home!
