El Dorado County Historical Museum

Really neat exhibits and the docent basically gave me a personal tour. Really cool. I learned some things I had never heard before and also connected the dots from related areas (like Virginia City!). I would go back (and bring friends who also enjoy history). Suggested donation $2/person.

We visited this museum while on a trip to Placerville two weeks ago. It’s a small museum but we enjoyed our visit very much. We received a tour from an extremely knowledgeable docent who explained to us the history of the area and its people. A great experience.

The tour is filled with history and facts of the history of Placerville. The ladies are very nice and informative. We enjoyed the step back in time and learning about the history of the town now known as Placerville.

Our docent was very knowledgeable, explaining the exhibits. We learned much more about the history of the area.

This place was awesome. The curator was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of history behind the items they had in the museum. Highly recommend if you're curious about El Dorado county, or the Gold Rush.

Great collection of historical artifacts from el dorado county. We really enjoyed the private tour given by Heather. Reservations need now but they hope to open to all soon.

This is a fantastic Museum, a must see if you're into the local history, they have so many wonderful items and their staff is extremely knowledgeable! Very hard to find people like this that volunteer their time. I wish more people were like them

Much more than I remember from a few years back. Very well done exhibits and many publications on local points of interest and history.

Excellent outside area with historical artifacts on display centered around mining, ranching, agriculture, and narrow guage rail-road logging activities. Inside there are further displays and a staffed reference library. Check their webpage ahead of time for hours. If you are doing research, bring cash as copies of materials will cost you on a per-page basis. Especially for local rail-road history, this place has a better collection of information than the public library.

Simple set up. Had a volunteer docent give us a 1 one 1 walk-through. Very friendly staff and informative exhibits.

Love this adventure. Highly recommend. Small enough to see everything in a short amount of time. Can't wait to go back and see it all again.

I just wanted to add that the giant slice from the Big Oak Tree is from the property where my Great-great grandmother’s brother lived. He was born in Pennsylvania.

Jam-packed with gold country history and staffed by friendly and knowledgeable docents, this little museum is a must see if you've got the time in the Placerville area.

Lots of great equipment in the yard used back in the logging days around Placerville

It's Great lots of stuff I have never seen I had a great time looking at old things and paying for gold.
