La Colonia Mexican Restaurant

The wife and I had huevos Rancheros and they were excellent. The Ranchero sauce was real Ranchero sauce which you find in very few restaurants nowadays. The owner came over to the table and visited with us for a while and asked what we had ordered. I told him we ordered the huevos Rancheros and he asked if I like menudo and I replied that I love menudo but I don't order it since most restaurants make terrible menudo. He offered me a taste and I was pleasantly surprised, it was excellent. We got to take a bit more and the conversation turned to barbacoa. He asked the waiterous to bring me a taco and it too was great. It was made with beef cheek not roast as many places make it. Barbacoa made with roast is tasty but dry. I grew up eating barbacoa made with beef cheeks and I won't eat it any other way. Be warned, this is a humble place, what most folks would call a hole in the wall. But I found it to be a very comfortable place to eat. It's not a fast food restaurant, so some may consider the service to be slow, but I found the experience to be worth the wait.

The waiter was good at working with dietary needs. He was making sure we were alright often. The service was quick. Two people was only $20. Hard place to notice from the road. I would recommend even just stopping in for fries instead of going to a fast food place, because the fries were really good.

Man the tacos are AMAZING!!! It's always so hard to find barbacoa. They had it and it was 5 stars.

This place always answers their phone for quick breakfast orders. Barbacoa is amazing. The green sauce has a perfect amount of meat. Tortillas corn or flour is amazing.

Stopped here for a quick lunch. Attentive and friendly staff, food was good. Drinks were large and cold. Food portions were good.

The place is clean, I ordered a nopales(cactus) and pork meat and only thing here is I prefer lean meat☺ It had to many fatty pieces.
I do recommend this place👍 And we support our locals😎

Chips were fresh & warm. Salsa very tasty! Randy's suggestion to add an egg on top of chilaquiles was perfect! We'll be back....

We love this place. Its locally owned and operated. The family makes the salsa themselves from scratch (I could drink it)! Chips are "old style" meaning they are thick and sometimes greasy but greasy in the good way not the bad way. Food is always good.

Very authentic Mexican food, large portions, and friendly service make this a great restaurant. Everyone in our party was very pleased.

La Colonia is the most authentic restaurant in town! The chilaquiles are like the ones abuelita made. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu and the owners are so kind and gracious. Good people and good food!

Came here because it has the best reviews. Great food!!! Fair price!! One basket of chips are free more baskets cost more/ don’t let this detour you the food is great and service is good and fast 😉🙂 definitely recommend

Some of the best barbacoa we've tasted. Menudo and Aguas fresca's were also great. Prices were fair and they were very hospitable. Will definitely be back.

If I could, I would go there every time I have a taste for Mexican food.
The service was also great didn't have to wait long for our food even though part of our order was customized.

This was a great place to eat homemade Mexican food. Everything tasted good. The service was superb. Very clean too.

i have been eating at this place since i moved here about 10 years ago my mom had a job here and the food still taste the same very delicious food and i love the chips and salsa and the owners are very friendly. if you are looking for some Mexican old style food this is the best place in town.

Delicious food and friendly service! No dine in currently, but they do curbside. Order ahead or order at restaurant off the wall. They will come out to check on you when you arrive.
