Char Restaurant

First time dining in at Char, and I rarely do reviews but this restaurant was fantastic. We had Taylor as our waitress and she was knowledgeable and friendly. I got the filet and my boyfriend got the ribeye, as well as an appetizer and dessert. We ate everything, cannot wait to return.

We had dinner here tonight. Both of us started with the wedge salad. Then I had the scallops with risotto and asparagus with a cream leek sauce. My husband had the redfish with grits and wilted spinach. Both dishes were amazing! My only complaint would be the amount of time it took to get our entrees after the salads. The server explained that the ovens got reset after a power outage. That delayed getting entrees out. We were offered a tomato bisque on the house because of the delay.

Went because we received a gift card. I have had better service at lower cost. Nothing bad happened. We really enjoyed ourselves. Pretty decor and live piano. Just not our favorite and overpriced for paper on the tablecloths. Really? Just bragging rights that I can afford to go there? Recommend reservations. Desert was take out. We ate it the next night. To die for. They really know what they were doing. impressed! I would order it for take out sometime.

Char is an excellent restaurant if your looking to have a nice dinner with a drink. They have a full bar and their menu includes soups, salads and nice steaks.

We got Shrimp BBQ and it was good. We also ordered a Hamburger with fries. It was nicely done. Enjoy…

The food was very good and the quality you would expect for the price. The stand out thing was the wait staff. Eric was amazing, very knowledgeable, extremely efficient, took great care of us without taking away from our quiet dinner together. We go out every week, this was by far one of the best overall and especially service experiences we have had in Huntsville this year.

Wow...everything was phenomenal from the greeting of the hostess, the ambiance, the waitress, and the food!!! I thought it was a fluke so I returned with the rest of my family...on a different day and the food / staff were consistently good.

The staff was professionally dressed everyone had on similar professional attire and the food was amazing. Everyone in my party was satisfied with our food.

Char has specials on certain days for lunch. On my first visit, I was celebrating a special occasion and I was seated in one of the booths. After speaking with our waitress Loly we decided on the catfish special since they only offer it on Fridays.

On my second visit I did not opt for the special and my meal was still spectacular. My compliments to the staff at Char!!!

Everything was perfect! The food was prepared and served exactly how it was described. Flavor packed, polite and attentive staff, respectable wait times, overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

I just have to say "wow!" Every part of my experience there was perfect. The waitress was courteous, helpful and polite - no rushing and friendly. The place was spotless, including the restroom. The food was a genuine treat, in appearance, and flavor - I had the Cornbread Dusted Redfish (lunch portion)- Cornbread dusted Redfish with crab meat laying on sautéed spinach and grits. If you are looking for excellent food and friendly service. I would love to visit often, and will certainly do so!

My husband and son treated me to an early Mother's day brunch and Char did NOT disappoint.
First, the jazz music just sets off the mood to a relaxing vibe that is so inviting.
Next, the food was delicious 😋 Excuse the pics with the half eaten salad and crab cakes. I started eating and realized that I needed to take a picture. They both were delicious. I have included pics of the Filet Mignon with sides that my husband had and the Chicken and Waffles that my son ordered. I tasted both their meals and the steak was so buttery and seasoned. The chicken tenders were juicy. Last but not least, the staff were super sweet. We enjoyed our meal and I will be back to visit.

Great food and atmosphere. We went without reservations and ate in the lounge area. Live piano music was nice and service was great. I had the Elk (first time eating elk) and my wife had the tips and fries (Frites). Both were yummy. The drinks were amazing!
I definitely recommend The Don's Revenge. For desert, they were out of the Pecan Pie which I hear is good, so we had the Pecan Butter Cruch...that was really good as well. We will be back!

New to HSV and loved this place!! My husband took me out for a little date and we had a blast! The atmosphere was very unique and jazzy, and particular to the Huntsville are. There was piano going and while we waited, we sat by the bar and listened. The food is excellent with lots of variety, and the drink menu is outstanding with selection! Pricing was pretty great compared to most fancier restaurants where you leave spending $300 for 2 people. The service was good and we were in and out within an hour and some? We’ll definitely be back for more, and we hope to come back for lunch some time!

My first time eating here. It was a
bit pricey but worth it. Service was great. Sweet tea was great. The Spinach crisp was great🤌🏻. The spinach crisp barely made it in the picture. I also had the House salad with Salmon. My side dishes were black eyed peas and collard greens... Delicious. Kisses to the chef. I'm definitely coming back.

This was our first time dining at Char. Food and service was excellent! The flavors were top notch! Our server, Cassidy, was attentive and knowledgeable. Great restaurant for date night, although the atmosphere was a little noisy for romantic ambiance for our Friday 6:30pm dinner reservation. Not a deal breaker, though. Will definitely return!

Atmosphere of an east coast steakhouse. Food was very well prepared. The staff was attentive and friendly. Prime rib sandwich was outstanding. Would order it again. We went for lunch and had a delightful time. The sauce on the cornbread dusted redfish did not spicy at all. Would recommend getting extra sauce on the side.

We went here to celebrate my sister birthday and it was marvelous. The service was immaculate. We got there a hour before closing but there was no rush. We have an excellent server. The food was amazing. 20/10 I definitely recommend this place!

Never disappointed at Char! Everything I've tried is top notch and very filling. It's a higher price range, but worth every penny! Crab cakes and fried green tomatoes can't be beat. The veal was perfectly cooked, the okra is tender and not gooey, and the shrimp is so tender!!! Great date spot or girls night! Our server, Michael, was amazing!! Can't go wrong here.

We had no reservation, sat at the front bar area. There was a pianist that played a good variety of tunes while we dined. The servers were friendly and the food was out fast. Overall delicious and the marbling on the New York Strip was excellent.

Beautiful atmosphere, live music was the perfect volume.

Food was mostly on the level of ambrosia. Abby was an absolute delight sitting in the lounge area.

We had mimosas and filler-less crab cakes that I seriously just wanted to eat for the rest of my life. The steak frites were cooked to utter perfection and seasoned beautifully. The pecan butter crunch was sinful and the most delicious butter cake I've ever had. It's also HUGE. Portions are not a small thing at Char.

My only minor issue was the steak benedict. Steak was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned and the poached egg was wonderful. Unfortunately the English muffin was sodden and soaked through with watery hollandaise. Literally my only complaint.

Definitely coming back!

What a great spot for dinner, all the things on the menu are so good. The crab cakes were especially great!
