I drive my sons up the wall!

High Point is a family friendly facility and a remarkable venue for climbers of all ages and skill levels, including first timers.

During 5+ visits, I have seen climbers ranging from 8 years old all the way up to late 60s/early 70s.

The staff is professional, courteous and eager to teach, the auto belay system is safe and easy to operate and the various walls present a challenge from the novice to the most experienced expert.

Plus, climbing is a phenomenal workout and a lot of fun.

All required gear, such as shoes and harnesses, are available for rental on site. Bring a small towel to dry hands and a chalk ball bag.

Highly recommend Huntsville High Point!

Short version: Great homeschool class and camp programs with knowledgeable staff. Safety and cleanliness are at a high standard. Fees included all equipment for climbing your child will need. Classes are a great blend of structured learning with some unstructured peer climbing. Highly recommend. Price is reasonable and fair.

Longer version as to why I like the homeschool class, below. For those looking for quality social classes for their homeschooled children, I had detailes our experiences here.

My son has loved the homeschool climbing class. He began as a very unconfident kid that wouldn't even attempt anything more than 4ft off the floor, or talk to the other kids. Now after his 6th 8 week course of the class he is a confident little spider! He also had developed great social skills and learned the joys of healthy competitive games.

If you are a homeschooling mom like me, this info is for you. The classes are 1.5 hours you can drop off or watch. When my son began he was so shy he needed me to stay. Now I'm able to drop off or wait in the car for some, quiet! 🤣 The classes are structured in a way that both meet a P.E. requirement, and foster social engagement. Most of the class is about trying the new skill learned in the beginning of class lesson/skill instruction. That is usually about a 15min lesson. My son has made friends, especially with the kids that continue on with the classes. He has developed a love of the sport as a whole as well.

My son has ADHD. Other sports he tried he lost interest in quickly and it was a fight to complete the seasons. With climbing, not only is he working with and cooperating with the other kids, he has to focus on his own body's movements. Being ADHD he will lose focus. With climbing, if he loses focus on his body's movements or lets his mind wander to watching another climber, he will fall from his wall. This sport has taught him how to stay more aware and present in what his body is doing and his plan to the top of the wall.

Physically we have seen a drastic change in his strength and endurance. He went from not being strong enough to pull his body up a wall higher than 4 ft , to climbing the 75ft outdoor wall on harder paths each time. He is only 8, but the kid has actual bicep muscles. He will come home and climb trees and anything he can get a grip on. We have even added climbing holds to the trees in our yard. He removed the ladder to his bunk/desk style bed then had his dad install climbing holds in the wall. He has to climb the wall to get into bed.

The coaches are knowledgeable about the sport and the kids listen and like them. Recently there were some program changes. These changes are proving to make the program even better.

Best of all my son looks forward to this class every week! He has blossomed out of his shy shell. He will attempt anything. He has learned mind and body. I am a former public school teacher. I know how important having structured and unstructured peer interactions are to proper development. It is hard to find sport based homeschool classes that are both educational, physically challenging, and provide some unstructured peer play. This program does all of those things for my son. I highly recommend this class to any mom. Especially moms with kids that need that little extra physical and mental challenge. My son says it feels like a puzzle he has to solve every time he is on a wall.

We have been wanting to visit for a while and it did not disappoint. I went with my 2 kids. 3 and 9. They had an absolute BLAST! orientation was quick and effective my 9 year old picked it up quick. I had to clip in my 3yr old son that I'm happy to do! Loved giving them a little pep talk before sending them up anyway and I feel more comfortable checking to make sure it's all tight and safe. We had a great time I loved watching them go. We will definitely go back and now the family is thinking of getting a membership.

Had a great time at this clean and welcoming gym. Grades were similar to my home gym and enjoyed flashing a couple routes on my vacation. Would be great with a belay partner!

Been a member for around 2 years and I love it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, you are always greeted when entering the building. Has a regular gym upstairs, bouldering, or trad climbing. No food outside of some vending machines but you can leave and come back with no extra charge if you're hungry and it's surrounded by good places to eat or grab a cup of coffee. They regularly change the climbing routes so you won't get bored with the same climbs week in and week out. They also offer adaptive climbing for people with disabilities, parents night out, clubs, classes, yoga, and usually fun seasonal events like easter egg hunt climbs and lights out costumed climbs. There isn't a sense of judgement if you're new to working out/climbing. Unlike most workouts you're very motivated to finish something you started as you can see the finish line in front of you. The other members are very social and it's not hard to find someone to belay you on the other walls or chat up with between climbs. Feel free to hit me up if you see me and I'll be happy to belay, hope to see you guys on the wall.

We had a great time at High Point. There were four of us in my group: 9th grade daughter, 9th grader's female friend, her friend's Dad, and me. Us Dad's are 50 ish to give an idea of age. Our staff member got us signed in and walked us through the different parts of the facility while explaining the different areas with great detail. Then we got to climbing. It was great. We were able to rest as needed and felt the 3 ish hours or so we spent there allowed us to get our money's worth. You'll definitely get a workout, but the pace is completely up to you. The auto-rappel contraptions made it so we could all climb together. Very enjoyable experience.

This is an amazing place, the community is among some of the coolest people in Huntsville. Everyone is very welcoming, if you don't have people to climb with you can go up to anyone and find a partner and a new friend. The routes are interesting and challenging, lots of conversations about technique can stem from the routes they set. The routesetters are all great people and can give you pointers on how to do the moves. One of them, Sherwin is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Lot of interesting conversations with the guy. Honestly the community here is so good I'll find myself spending hours here without even climbing, just laughing and talking with my friends about the sport then getting ourselves hyped up to get on the wall. I also got the chance to meet world class climber Matt Fultz and listen to him talk about progressing in climbing ability to avoid plateauing.

I took three kids ages 9-13 here for some fun physical activity in air conditioning. They all had a blast! There were two rooms where they could climb. They were too young for a third area, but that wasn't a problem because there was plenty to keep them busy in the two areas. A full-day pass with gear rental was around 25.00 each.

We have been in town for the week and signed up our 8 year old daughter for the summer climbing camp. She had such a great time and loved making new friends. We spent additional time climbing and were happy with our time there. The gym is beautiful and there was everything for our family of 5 to enjoy. We will happily be back during future visits.

Friendly staff and very patient with younger guests who come with the grandparents who were also first-timers. We'll definitely be back soon!

Good climbing gym. It's also the only one in town, but they do a pretty good job of keeping routes fresh. I just wish it were a little bigger.

Update: they now have a second location at Lincoln mill. It's free for members, which is great!

It was amazing!! I had a great experience. It was my very first time rock climbing and I almost had a panic attack lol. I just wish the staff will stand there for a bit and watch you climb or demonstrate how to do it. That would have made it a lot more easier for me, nevertheless it was a great experience and I would totally recommend this for anyone who's scared of heights. It'll help you overcome your fear

HPCF is my daughters’ favorite place. The staff is exceptional. We especially appreciate Tyler. He is amazing with the kids. He is encouraging and so helpful. I added a photo of him in action helping one of our partygoers.
