I am trying to pick off restaurants from my "want to go list" every Saturday, and this one was worth the drive to the country.

The parking was fairly full, but there was plenty of seating. Our waitress handed us menus and brought water while we looked over the selections. My wife got the luncheon chicken fried steak and I ordered the patty melt.

Our food arrived promptly, and it was very good. Besides being delicious, my wife appreciated the smaller portion. She still struggled to finish it. My patty melt was great as well. I too had a hard time joining the Clean Plate Club.

It's a bit of a shame, because their pie case was very tempting.

This will be a prime location during the Round Top Antique Show or while bluebonnet hunting. Our experience was excellent and we'd be sure to stop when near.

The chicken fried steak was amazing. I ordered the 16 oz, and I should have taken half of it home, but I couldn't stop eating it! Service was great, the food was great... I'll definitely be back.

A group of us went to eat lunch here. Many of us had been here before. No complaints from anyone.

The service was great, even with our large group of 18. Very prompt and professional staff who catered to our every need.

I had the Pan Seared Catfish Platter with Steamed Carrots and Green Beans. There were three nice sized fillets and good portions of both vegetables. Absolutely amazing. Every bite was as good as the first and the flavors were great. I’d order this dish again anytime.

I’d recommend JW’s Steakhouse to anyone looking for some great home style comfort food.

If you’re reading this review, there’s a good chance you’re looking for a place to eat after going antiquing in Round Top. We were! JW’s was recommended to us by one of the shop owners and I’m so glad we stopped in. They were a bit short staffed, I believe because they got an unexpected rush of people after the antique fair. They were still friendly and fast and the food came out quickly. We got the fried pickles, chicken fried chicken, and chicken fried steak. All were delicious, and the portions were large! The fried okra was a standout. I would recommend and we’ll be back after our next antiquing trip!

Loved this place! We visited with a large group that ordered a good variety of the menu, everyone was very satisfied with their meal. I had an 8oz chicken fried steak that almost filled a plate and was one of the best I've ever eaten short of my mother's. We'll be back!

Can’t put my finger on why they get a five star—just so many things were right.
#1- our waiter (a very young man at lunchtime on Wednesday) was just a delight. It was so refreshing to have a young person say you’re welcome when you say thank you, instead of “no problem”.
#2– legitimate sweet tea was on point.
#3- the burger tasted like fresh Texas beef, good texture
#4- onion rings were homemade, although batter was a little soggy—I like a crispier fry.
#5- welcoming ambiance—just felt like home.

Great all around!!! We ordered appetizer - Corn Nuggets (Awesome!!) & Entrees - Chicken Fried Steak dinner & the Pork Chop dinner (also AWESOME!). Our server was very friendly & personable. Will definitely visit again when in the area!

The staff were all extremely nice and fullied any random request for the group, including attempting to make drinks they haven't even heard if from a few photos on a phone and bringing out a comprable replication of it.

Very nice interior, place was very overall clean. Smallest issues was the chicken fried steak batter did not adhere to the cutlet and flaked off but it was very good and well seasoned.

We ordered the filet and the chicken breast. The filet was cooked perfectly at medium rare, and the chicken was excellent, especially since there was no extra salty seasoning taste.
We really liked the atmosphere, wine selection, and had good service. We will return next time we are staying at Busted Oak Cellars, or just hungry when paying through.

The food flavor of the ribeye was very good, had a nice char-grilled flavor. The staff was very nice and prompt to take care of us. I would go here again. She had the salmon and enjoyed we both had the veggies. Our meal was healthy and the portion sizes we're very large and we appreciated being there! I would recommend, 5 stars!!

The Ribeye was amazing! And I know it may not be everyone's favorite, BUT the fatty edge of the Ribeye was deliciously rendered into a flavorful, buttery compliment to the tender, savory meat. The dinner rolls tasted so good, they almost started a skirmish at the table!

Ate there yesterday, I had the prime special and it was amazing. The waitress was awesome and was very accommodating. The spouse had a filet minion I believe and we both really enjoyed it. Wehn we visit Austin we try to stop here for a meal on the way back home. well priced for the quality. You are treated like part of the town and I would highly recommend.

Felt like getting out of Cypress and a friend told me about JW's. We made the drive and it was such a wonderful decision. We got the onion rings and the deep fried jalapeno for appetizers. The onion rings are the best onion rings I've ever had in my life. They were perfectly cooked onions on the inside and the breading on the outside wasn't under or over fried but just right, they were phenomenal. Jalapenos deep fried are also very good. Our table ordered the salmon, the 10 oz filet mignon and my son had the large chicken fried steak, which is actually two chicken fried steaks one laid on top of the other, and my daughter had the single chicken fried steak. Michelle was our waitress and her customer service and care was over the top could not be more happier. The rolls that they make are phenomenal !!! You'll want to take 12 home with you. The food was fabulous and I can't wait to go back. The place is a casual place that feels very comfortable. I would highly recommend

Everything was fresh home style cooking. The best chicken fried ribeye steak I've ever had and I've had several from different parts of Texas. This was hands down the best for me so far. Would definitely recommend and be going back again.

I ordered the ribeye here, and it was a nice cut with good marbling, it was seasoned perfectly, and it was served hot and ready to eat in a relatively short amount of time. I highly recommend JW's Steakhouse to anyone who wants a really good steak.

Really cute interior and a great first experience for us! The four of us had different but tasty well prepared and presented meals. Our server was personable and quick to get anything we needed.

Our waitress was awsome. I went there for my birthday dinner and I was great. I hope I get her as a server next time I go.

Pork chop for days! First time here and I'll certainly be back. One of the few spots open Tuesday and Wednesday in this area - prices don't include a Round Top tax either!

The food is absolutely incredible and the staff is very friendly. My 11 year old daughter ate every single bite of her cheese burger. My rib eye was EXCELLENT too.

Food was delicious! And they had some great options for kids as well! Only complaint is that it was quite warm inside the dining area, just enough to be uncomfortable. We came with a large group and they were able to accommodate us very nicely, and everyone enjoyed their meals!
