Everything I've ever had done has been at this hospital. As any place, there's always going to be problems, but when it comes to my health, my family's health. I want the best people for the job, and that's UT hospital. All of your medical records are there together. The Dr's can even get together with each other and talk about the best plan for you (your life). I can't see myself going anywhere else. 1 negative thing, ER needs some help. The Dr's and nurses are friendly, but sitting and waiting for over 12hrs is no fun. BUT! The ER was so full nowhere to even sit, and that's out of their control to who and how many people come there. Some people there for not really sure. And they don't turn you away. As far for me and my family, this is where we will be.

I live in NY, but have had to make several trips to take care of a loved one who has had multiple surgeries & inpatient stays at UTMC. This hospital just amazes me. All staff, from valet to cafeteria to cleaners, to medical professionals are warm & friendly, focused on making people feel their best again. The doctors we were involved with had excellent bedside manners, and really took their time to understand & help. And I truly cannot say enough about the nurses here. My loved one can be quite grumpy and they were always pleasant, patient, and on task with a smile. Thank you!

I came in with a bad kidney infection so they kept me in the hospital for 4 day. Everyone was no nice the doctor didn't seem like he wanted to rush me out of there even though I didn't have insurance he seemed very concerned about me and told me he didn't want me to leave until I felt comfortable leaving which I appreciated. All my nurses and CNAs were incredible bringing me ice chips and cold ice towels after throwing up or when my fever was high and I was uncomfortable. I couldn't of asked for a better experience thank you

My daughter was seen in the ER and was treated with great care and concern. She was admitted to the hospital for her condition and again was treated with great care and concern. Doctors were great, nurses were great. Response time was very appropriate. And I am so thankful the cafeteria was open until 2am! I have been in hospitals were the cafeteria closed at 8 or 9pm. When you have been in the ER for a number of hours and finally get a break to go get a bite to eat, it is quite frustating to find only junk food to eat... but not at UT Hospital! Thanks!

I really appreciate the fact that the University of Tennessee is a teaching hospital. It is the number one trauma hospital in East Tennessee. That makes it’s emergency room super busy. That is frustrating, for patients and staff. But it is the best place to go if you have a serious trauma, a complex medical issue, or another need. It’s the hospital network to go for anything complex. If it’s simple I go to another hospital to lighten the load here. But all the doctors and nurses here are so helpful. They’re not perfect but knowledgeable and doing everything they can to take give excellent care.

This is an amazing facility. My husband was treated there last fall after an accident. We live in Michigan and were visiting family in the area. We ended up spending 7 weeks in the Neuro Critical care unit. He was on life support for 2 weeks. The staff and care we received was wonderful. They saved his life. I highly recommend this hospital and will always be grateful for everything they did for us.

My son in law was killed in a car accident 2 years ago in July of 2018, my grandson at the time was 5 months old and in the back set of the car. They took him by ambulance to UT, when I got the phone call we rushed to the hospital. The ER staff was amazing, was great with my stepdaughter who was a emotional wreck, even more amazing to us and my grandson. Our car seat was damaged in the wreck and it was the only one we had at the time, one of the security officers drove to Wal-Mart for us and got a us a car seat. Thank you ER staff for showing such kindness to my family and the most saddest time in our lives!

The hospital staff was amazing! I just had my baby this past Sunday and we were never out of the loop. From labor and delivery to recovery we were told every step they were taking and why they were doing it. We have never felt so at home. There is absolutely nothing I would have wanted to go differently, they were amazing.

I've been to several of the area Hospitals and clinics. These people are not only knowledgeable and smart as a whip, but they are the nicest, sweetest people anywhere!!! They are understanding, and caring to a fault! I just came in for a doctor's appointment, and I was in surgery in just a few hours!! That's fast!!! The food is great too which is a very hard compliment to earn. This place has my vote and I will return here for any of my specialty needs!!!

This is my favorite hospital after Vanderbilt. Spent 12 days here after surgery and the staff was excellent. No complaints other than food service need to fix their issues. I have regular procedures here and never one issue. Staff are caring and knowledgeable. Big thing is they listen to the patient's.

My mom was hospitalized for 3 weeks. All the nurses she had were fantastic. Dr Boling was a blessing as he performed a life saving surgery on her & will forever be grateful. Some of the doctors were rude and not helpful but that was thankfully over shadowed by the nurses.

Was admitted to 8 East through ER for 5 days due to sepsis, hypotension, kidney infection and sinus tachycardia. ER staff, doctors and floor were incredible. I would highly recommend this hospital to everyone. As far as having wait to be seen, it is a teams hospial and a stroke hospital those needs will come first. I can tell you when two members of the staff could not get a blood pressure on me or a heart rate my care was immediately taken care of with no less than 5 people in my face at once, asking questions, sticking me in more places than I thought possible, giving me meds and sending me for tests. This scary situation could have turned out much different for me and my family! Love UT Medical Center!

My mother had a stroke she was in the NCU 2days then to the floor. I was very pleased with her treatment and all the nurses as well as several doctors their professionalism and bedside manner was 100%
I would highly recommend UT Hospital. However tbe cafeteria could have lower prices it's difficult to stay with your family member and afford to eat your meals.

I can't find one thing bad to say about this hospital and my experience there after being admitted for 3 days. I had a really bad infection in my arm that I had went to TWO different hospitals for hoping to be admitted since it continued to get worse despite being on multiple antibiotics over the course of 4 days. So I drove all the way from Crossville to Knoxville hoping that UT hospital would admit me and take care of it. As soon as they took one look at my arm they immediately admitted me and got me on IV antibiotics! I can't explain how thankful I am and grateful for the care and expertise of every single staff member at this hospital. Instead of rushing me out they took the time to give me the urgent and critical health care that I so desperately needed. Thank you University of Tennessee!

I've been to various UT medical offices, CT scan, ultrasound, labs, admissions, inpatient, valet service, breast center. Everyone I've met has been welcoming, kind, respectful, and helpful. The doctors and staff I have worked with have coordinated records and consulted with each other. I am impressed and pleased with the care I have received to date.

I was a patient at Lisa Ross Birth Center until found out I had a late-term missed miscarriage, then was transferred to UTMC High Risk OB. Saw Dr. Hennessey who was incredibly helpful and informative even though I chose to not use his services for a D and E, and referred me to Dr. Friedman and Dr. Barry for an induction. Got put on the waiting list and was called promptly and politely by the front desk for an earlier appointment than scheduled. Was in the hospital under Dr. Barry's care for nearly 48 hours and she herself as well as each one of the nurses I was served by could not have been more empathetic and incredibly supportive of my uncommon delivery preference for a miscarriage. They made a horrendous experience tolerable and never made me feel like I was wasting their time or a bother. I had much generous help, but some of note were Alise, Treva, and Brittany. I felt like I was in the company of friends more than an unfamiliar hospital. In addition the entire staff on the induction floor was warm and would smile and me and chat as I walked the halls for hours on end.

Ultimately, there were still plenty of things that sucked about the whole process: the miscarriage itself aside, having to wait in the same waiting room as expectant mothers in the midst of hundreds of parenting magazines and birth photos is incredibly disheartening during a loss (although understood). There were moments of miscommunication between doctors, and in general hospitals are not fun places to be. But overall? I am so incredibly blessed by the staff at UTMC and am grateful than when we try for another baby, we will be seen by staff that feels like friends.

ps - This is Stephen's wife, he did not have a baby :)

Professional, skilled, compassionate staff. Top notch. Only problem you might have is waiting due to the massive volume of patients they have to see. Most are being seen for stupid reasons that do not warrant an ER. Be patient. Being able to wait for hours is a blessing compared to needing immediate intervention.
