Southern Roots

Personally not typically excited about old-school fine dining restaurants and generally prefer more fun & creative menus (at any price point) ... but this place was awesome! Surpassed all my expectations, and in addition to a well-comprised (and executed) fine dining menu, they had some creative chef specials that were simply outstanding. Each and every member of the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about the food. We were sat in a big comfy booth with a view of the water, and the non-stuffy yet still refined ambiance was perfect. Excited to have a restaurant of this caliber just up the road. Will be back soon.

Wow, the setting, the food, the service, top notch. It's what you would expect from a place named the Grand Hotel. Gregory was not only a great server but also quite the philosopher. This is exactly what I was hoping for but then it exceeded my expectations. The dishes shown are beef tenderloin and swordfish. As we were enjoying our meal we watched the sun slowly sink into the horizon over a fabulous view of the bay.

Great place with bay views and family atmosphere. My. America 75 cocktail was excellent, complex and refreshing, well worth $14, The bar margarita and French chardonnay weren't. Dinner consisted of an excellent (best ever) crab cake and a very good haddock dish. One of my companions was impressed by the west indies salad. The place busy but the service was good. We were able to catch the fireworks after dinner out back while children played. Memorable.

Very yummy dessert! I had the bananas foster cake. Coffee was also delicious.

We went to Southern Roots and were blown away! The restaurant ambiance is very romantic. We loved our server, Dallas! We ordered the Salmon special and mushroom risotto and split both. The food was incredible! I loved the confit potatoes. They do not provide an corking fee if you want to bring your own wine however.

This was an amazing fine dining experience like no other! The drinks, food and service was exceptional! Looking forward to the next visit!

Superb in every facet. This evening the lamb special was just that special, and the best I've ever eaten. Wish I had asked the chefs name to write it here. The presentation was off the charts. Christian, our server, was delightful and witty. The sun had set, but the lights bouncing off the Bay soothed our souls as we relished every bite.

Blew us away! The view, style, menu choices, entire staff, let me shout about the STEAK! Highly recommended. We dined here for two of our stay nights. Without a doubt we will be returning. Everything we tasted on the menu was perfect! Honestly it is under priced for the pure quality of greatness they offer. Both of the restaurant managers were exceptional. The bar tender Jason has brilliant mixology talent. Megan Coxx even took time to chat with us. We got blessed to have Jesse as our epic server both nights. A hidden gem everyone should make a reservation for!

My husband and I had dinner at Southern Roots and it was everything and more! It was absolutely delicious! The Beef Tenderloin was perfection as well as the Grouper. The Gumbo, Oh it’s so good it has a zip code.. Divine!! Southern Roots is to be put at the top of your list for a meal you don’t want to miss!!

Excellent food and service. Exceptional attention to detail. Highly recommend when looking for a fine dining restaurant. The view is spectacular at sunset.

(Other reviewer's comment about mixing steak and pizza and kids... That's mixing the two restaurants that are side-by-side. One is more casual while Southern Roots is higher end.)

Incredible experience at Southern Roots!!! Food was fantastic and the service was impeccable!! Michael Herzog is the best!!! He had us set up at a table where we witnessed a breathtaking sunset!!! We highly recommend Southern Roots to everybody that is in the vicinity of this wonderful restaurant!!!

OMG!! The best dinner ever! I had the scallops-melt in your mouth!!! My hubby had the Grouper and Risotto.. both cooked to perfection!

Best Pharmacy in Baldwin! Would not get Scripts anywhere else! Plus if your lucky you'll get to see the most Beautiful Greek Princess EVER!

Actual experience the diver scallops are to die for the grand gumbo is also excellent as well as the service super place
