The chicken is fantastic, I think it's the best chicken in town. You can't beat there dinner plate for $8.78 you get 2 pieces of chicken and 2 sides.

Having moved, they're my lifesaver releasing me from the time ⏲ for meal prep by providing the best take-out fresh food around. I'm one blessed being. Blessings.

The store is well organized. It doesn't have as much as the larger grocery stores but I am usually able to find everything I need. The chicken and sides in the deli is very good. The employees are very friendly and helpful. It's a great place to grocery shop.

Great neighborhood grocery store! One of Rockfords hidden gems with a hot and cold food deli. The bakery makes to order celebration cakes that are beautiful and delicious. They also sell the best sourdough bread, homemade pico and guacamole. Employees are friendly and helpful.

They often have very reasonable deals, an excellent discount produce section (I just got three large pieces of ginger for less than a dollar!).
The employees are also very sweet, helpful but not in the overbearing showmanship way.
I enjoy when I'm able to make time to go here instead of a large chain store (it's a bit out of my way).

Grays is a hidden gem in Rockford. The grocery section is basic but you can find just about anything you need! Their produce and meat departments are excellent and usually very reasonably priced. Their Christmas cookies and cheese bread fresh from the bakery are always perfect compliments for a homemade meal. Speaking of a homemade meal, their hot deli items are outstanding and reasonably priced. Their breasted chicken is the best kept secret in Rockford ; call ahead so you don’t end up waiting! (That goes for all of their hot bar foods, they’ve got a cult following). I also really want to compliment their staff. Everyone who we interact with is super friendly and does a wonderful job (especially all our deli ladies!) On hard work/grad school weeks we will eat from their hot bar multiple nights!

Beat rice pudding. It's the old fashioned way of shopping, no self checkout and people actually help you. If I could afford it I would only shop here, you need to pay for the personal touch. Actually I think it's 5 stars.

Grays makes the best cakes. They made my daughter’s Graduation cake and it was above and beyond the best cake we ever had!!!

Really good produce. Nice neighborhood store, clean and well organized. Very friendly owner and they even carry Tuff Dog treats which our dogs absolutely LOVE

I love this store! They have small portion vegetables all cut up. Perfect for a senior or small eater. Great deli and wonderful bakery!

All the employees were super nice to us. My daughter got a free freshly baked cookie and everyone seemed happy there. I’ve always loved having a small neighborhood store. I’m glad they have a lot of employees working there.

I've passed this store Soo many times coming home! Today was the first time I ventured inside! I enjoy the atmosphere. I prefer local when the opportunity is available. I enjoy the bakery, and while the prices are a little higher than other stores, I see myself coming to Gray's frequently. Most likely weekly. If you don't shop local, only chain stores will exit.

Fried chicken, from the deli!
I learned about Gray's fried chicken, 20 years ago. We'd purchase the chicken for our purchasing dept. holiday parties. (250 employees! That says a lot!).
Personalized service, quality, and a darn good price. I'm told the rotisserie chicken is good, too.
