Really nice campground. And very clean. Beautiful scenery and lots to do. The staff are very nice and helpful. Just a heads up, the waterside RV spots do not have a sewer connection but there is a dump site on property. We’ll stay here again. Very peaceful.

Before I start my review. I want to personally thank Wayne for making this vacation a true memory for our family. He was was nice and truely went out of his way for my kids. After working all day he was out fishing. He first showed off the fish he caught to my kids. My son had tried for days to catch a fish, without any luck. Wayne helped him get his fishing pole set up better and within 5 minutes he had a fish. The true joy in my son was so special to see!!!! He then checked in on my kids to see how the fishing went over night. If that wasn’t enough, my kids found a turtle nest and told him. He went and found a way to protect the nest.

The other workers were all super nice and helpful as well. The kindly removed a wasp from the tire swing so my kids won’t get stung.

When I tell you this is one of the absolute best family vacations we ever had!!!! We came down for a family reunion and on a whim decided to camp at the KOA. What a hidden gem it is! We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend and every thing was so organized. We stayed at camp site 101. It was a beautiful tent site, right on the lake. The swimming was great, playground, showers/ bathrooms, laundry, & store. We didn’t participate in the rope climb or horse back riding but was neat to look at. There is a lot of bugs so just prepare especially if tent camping (not a lot of mosquitoes that we experienced). Hands down we will be back again!

I chose this KAO only because it was equal distance for my family in Georgia and My family in Kentucky to meet for a summer camping adventure. We have been overwhelmed with the beautiful campground that is well kept and the sites are large and spread out nicely. The views are fantastic as well. My parents and Sister’s family had cabins and they were clean and comfortable. We backed into a full hookup site on the peninsula. Site 16. Sites are level and clean. Nice fire rings with grill tops. My family spent time at the beach, rented the pontoon and the jet ski. The staff has been so friendly. Our kids did the ropes course and had a blast. We cannot say enough great things about this KOA. They are doing great and after speaking with the owner who was also involved in all the day to days they have plans to make this KOA even more spectacular. Highly recommend. We will be back.

This place is normally our favorite. We live in the next county but it’s relatively close for us for an easy getaway. Beyonder took over the KOA in September, this was our first visit. We arrived Monday 10/30, initially everything was fine, friendly, courteous etc. on Tuesday a text arrived stating water issues, 529 pm.. no notice it was already off, couldn’t fill bottles, as of 736 no eta. Next day same thing, was told by park attendant, and s you need to do anything, do it now. There’re headed for parts and water will be off again. Husband had to work drive45 mins home to shower. Getting annoyed at this point. I managed to hit the shower 10 amWednesday. 104 on Thursday ,text again water off. This is ridiculous, new campers coming in were not told. This was from being neighborly and talking to them . Many long term workers here, can’t shower, flush toilets, clean dishes, apparently no plan in place . 1031pm Thursday text that water was on , 1059 we checked outdoor faucet, nope! No water. I initially wrote a decent evoked on TripAdvisor, but, after seeing poor communication, lack of leadership and little concern for campers , this needed said. We are in our regular spot, waterfront $55 per night. We feel like we boondocked since we used bottled water we purchased and one shower each the entire time, mine here, his at home. It really is disappointing that it has declined so quickly. Oh, and walking my dog in the dog walk, no bags in dog waste disposal. I always carry one but needed another. Sad state if this is the direction they’re heading.

The local camp as well as corporate chose not to respond to my email detailing or visit rather disappointing . Six weeks later, I still have heard nothing.

Awesome experience for my first time visiting a KOA. I’m a truck driver and went in after being laid over at a nearby delivery location. Semi truck/no trailer. Everything and everyone were wonderful. Our site was P02 lake view right behind it, restrooms conveniently across the way, short walk to the trail, pier, and beach front. Enjoyed it and definitely will return.

We just spent 4 nights here in a tent. TJ and the staff were amazing and super helpful. The park is clean and well maintained. The bath houses are also clean and well maintained. We will be back when it warms up to take advantage of the kayaks and canoes and the ropes course. Thank you for some great memories!!!

This campground is an amazing place.
Keep in mind there is no sewage hookups on some sites. They are currently in construction with adding additional sites that will be full hookups.
However, they do run a "honey wagon" you can request.
Also be aware of the entrance into the actual campground ( not the security gate) it is a tight, but doable squeeze.
Now with that all out of the way...
Nice beach, great boat dock, beautiful lake, spacious site ( I mean HUGE) and the shade is second to none. Absolutely beautiful place to relax!!
Perfect place!!
One of our favorite KOA's.

This is one of the most scenic campgrounds I have stayed at. The views are breathtaking. The sites are spacious. The owners are friendly, professional and accomodating. Since we had been on the road awhile we needed to take care of some personal things. The owners loaned us a Mifi with secure access so we could have wifi right in our camper. There was no charge. The boat launch has a huge parking lot and the ramp was plenty wide. This is our second stay here but not our last. I highly recommend this KOA.

We really enjoyed our stay, you cloud really see that updates were in progress all over the campground. The sites were not to close all were nicely shaded, beautiful views of the water! Bath/ shower house was nice and clean, the store had anything and everything you could want and the staff were so very nice! They offer many things for rental, if you want it they have it! (A pool would have been the cherry on top!)

This was our first time camping and KOA Decatur/Wheeler lake exceeded our expectations! Our waterfront site was nice and level, easy to back into with the trailer, and was only a short walk away from the bathhouse. The showers and bathrooms were very clean. There is a small general store some food, drinks, firewood, and general camping/fishing items.

We were able to check in late, we’re always met with a smile, and really enjoyed our stay! We will definitely be back this summer to enjoy the small beach, zip lines, and maybe rent a jet ski.

Liz & Husband Mike, Kelly, Cristina, and the Owners was nothing short of AMAZING!!! I was alone and they offered to help me set up my new Fifth wheel camper. Stayed in full contact with me when a bad storm popped in. All the employees along with the owners made you feel as your family. I will brag on this crew for TOP NOTCH HOSPITALITY!!! Plus this place is Absolutely the nicest and cleanest campground on Wheeler lake. Honestly the nicest between Guntersville lake to Kentucky Lake. Give this place a try and I promise you will agree with me. Thank you. Oh and the bad Mary review; I was the guy standing there when you came in about the hookups. It did not happen how you stated. The staff tried helping you but you was hateful and unwilling to allow help when bottom line was you got a pull through site but went into it from a different direction than posted. And the guy wasn't staying in a vehicle beside you. It's called a cab over camper that fits in the bed of a truck. It's an actual camper and really nice inside , you can buy them at any camper dealership. Get your facts strait before you post a review

There are snacks at the office they have ice if you have a cooler also fresh coffee donuts and things like that . It's very quiet if you need some peace you've found your place !

Beautiful, serene setting with many lakeside sites. In or near a wildlife preserve with beautiful bird life near shore sites. Purchased by a couple who are revamping and adding facilities. Very clean amenities. Kayak and pontoon boat rentals plus a launch for your own boat. On-site worship facility and minister.

This was our first stay at this campground. It was a quiet and peaceful stay. We had a waterfront campsite and throughly enjoyed it. The campsites were spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. We were traveling home from Gulf Shores and only planned to stay here two nights, but we enjoyed it so much, we extended our stay an extra day.

This is a peaceful, family-oriented campground. The sites are very shaded with beautiful views of Wheeler Lake. The staff is very nice. I also recommend attending their Sunday service - it was beautiful to worship at the lake. We would definitely stay again.

Oh, and their Fourth of July fireworks were some of the best we've ever seen! They obviously put a lot of time and effort into making this a great place for families to camp.

Very spacious KOA. Lots of land, right on the waterways with fishing opportunities. Friendly staff, great hosts. Sites are a little more spaced out than your traditional KOA's, so you get some privacy in most areas. Facilities are very clean and the showers are hot.

Excellent customer service and beautiful location! Site was tight for a 37' 5th wheel & long bed truck but we made it work. KOA never disappoints.
