Rockin' R Retreat Center

Recently Temple had a tornado that devastated our community and left many without out power across the city. I had a student reach out to me whose family was coming from Mississippi for graduation and the hotel they booked did not have electricity. Rockin' R Retreat was willing to make room for their family of 9 and work with them since they had already paid for other lodging. I cannot recommend not only the establishment, but the team that runs Rockin' R who really seem to care about the people they host. Nice to find good people these days. Thank you!!

Love love love this place! The work space is roomy and comfortable. Rena has a state of the art cutting system and art supplies for sale in case you forgot something. The meals and snacks are always plentiful and delicious, healthy, and for those dieting, you will find some “clean” options like salads, fruit and veggies at every meal. The bedrooms are cozy and cute, with very comfortable beds. It’s also sparkling clean. I look forward to my next stay!

LOVE this retreat and LOVE Rena! I just finished my first art retreat at Rockin R and I had the BEST time! Rena is such a gracious, kind, friendly and talented host! She makes you feel like family! Very welcoming! The house is very spacious, clean and comfortable. I felt safe here even during a pandemic. I love the peace and quiet of the Texas countryside, view of the horses and gorgeous cotton candy sunsets. I was able to finish 3 paintings, work on my writing and make new friends. Restaurants/shopping are only a 10 min ride away but uber eats will deliver too. It's just a beautiful and relaxing place to escape the stress of daily life and let your inner Artist run free. Highly recommend with friends or solo. LOVE the massage room too! I can't wait to return!

This wonderful retreat center is conveniently located close to Temple while leaving you feeling as though you have wandered into the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Everything is perfectly setup with plenty of room for crafting, hanging out, recreational activities and even reading in quiet corners. I have personally stayed at Rockin' R at least five times. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms spacious. The food...THE FOOD..it is always amazing. Thank you, Rena, for always making our stay at Rockin' R a special memory.

I have stayed at the Rockin R Retreat Center for 4 crafting retreats and can't say enough good things. The sleep quality is better than most hotels where I have stayed. There are ample and comfortable linens and the restrooms are spacious and accommodating. The crafting area is phenomenal. Ergonomic chairs, LED lights, mats and trash for each participant, plenty of outlets, wi-fi, plenty of space, and TONS of supplies available for shared use. I genuinely long to return and recommend this to every crafty girl looking for a destination to enjoy time away from daily chores to commune with other crafters!

My mom is fighting cancer with chemo, so we (my sister, mom and I) were debating...do we go to Rockin' R during a pandemic as we are greatly relying on others to do the safe things, or do we not go and miss out on a much-needed girls' trip? We went and had a plan...took our own utensils, all our cleaning supplies, you name it. However, none of it was needed. Rena has done such an extraordinary job changing processes to meet the needs of everyone during a pandemic! One room at a time in line for meals, they are served to you (vs serve yourself), masks while walking around...we could not have felt more safe! If you are on the fence about going, do not hesitate! THANK YOU, Rena, for all you are doing to make sure people can feel safe in your retreat center!

Rockin' R is truly everything a scrapbooker (or any other crafter!) could possibly want in a facility! The crop room has plenty of room and each attendee gets an EIGHT FOOT table and a nice comfy, adjustable office chair! Yes, I said EIGHT feet! There is a Cricut station with almost every cartridge imaginable. There is a small store with a rainbow selection of cardstock, embellishments, and even necessities such as tape, Stickles and even ear plugs (for that roommate that snores). Did I mention the eight-foot tables? In addition, each table has its own Ott Light and an extra long power strip with multiple plugs for all of your electronic devices. For those that stamp, there are lots of stamps to choose from to complete your project. There is also a full size refrigerator available just for guests to put their drinks or extra food (from take out or wherever). There is a coffee station for those that drink coffee (even a Keurig machine!). Oh yeah, and there is Satellite Radio, so no commercials when jammin' to those awesome 80's tunes! The sleeping area is attached to the crop room and no bunk beds! Each person gets their own twin bed (already made and ready for you!). The beds are extremely comfortable. I have lower back issues and am very particular when staying somewhere and Rockin' R did not disappoint. I had a wonderful night's sleep. Each room has a box fan which not only is nice for the extra air (let's face it, it's hot in Texas!), but also as a white noise device. There are plenty of bathrooms and even a hair dryer for your use. The kitchen is very large and the food? Oh my goodness!! Every meal is home cooked and carefully planned. I have a dietary restriction and was even contacted about a possible alternative to make sure I was accommodated. There is a nice Living Room area with 2 comfy sofas and big chairs to relax in. Rena, the owner, has truly thought of everything one could need for their crafty needs and in the event there is something missing, she is very open to feedback. She is truly the definition of "Southern Hospitality" and you feel welcomed and like her BFF the minute you arrive. Oh, did I mention an onsite massage therapist? Bonnie & Sheree are amazing at their job and it is just heaven to pamper yourself with a massage during your getaway. Rockin' R really is the perfect location. I loved that upon my arrival, there really wasn't any need to leave as everything has been thought of! However, if there is something you forgot, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are a short drive down I-35 (4 exits away). And, all of this for an amazing price! I've been to several other so-called 'retreat centers' and no one even comes close to what Rockin' R has to offer!

Rocking' R is a very spacious & versatile retreat center for a variety of events. I attend this place 1-2 times a year and always look forward to returning. It's a peaceful place to get away from reality & work on my artsy projects. Rena always goes above & beyond for this place as well as her personal retreats. I highly recommend this retreat center, you won't regret it.

Rena is amazing! Her kitchen crew is amazing! She is always accommodating and it feels like home away from home. I've always had a great time when visiting. Wish I could come more often.

Rockin’R is a little slice of heaven. Close to town, but surrounded by farm land…so peaceful. There isn’t much they haven’t thought of at Rockin’R. Bedrooms have all twin beds (linens provided), plenty of bathrooms, and comfortable living areas to sit and visit in when you need a break from crafting. The 8 ft. tables are wonderful! I love being able to spread my stuff out. Nice full size fridge to store drinks/snacks. Fully stocked beverage bar with coffee, tea and water. There is also a big ice machine. Meals are nicely balanced and wonderful…You won’t go hungry!
The crop room is totally separate from bedrooms so you are able to stay up all night if you want to. There is a small store that stocks a few essentials, card stock, embellishments, etc. Cricket machines and cartridges, a great tool bar with all kinds of tools, punches, and a few stamps.
You feel pampered and well taken care of at Rockin’R. They even have a massage therapist that comes out to the retreat center. Looking at value for money….it’s unbeatable!

I LOVE my visits to the Rockin' R! Rena and her staff do an excellent job of meeting your needs and the facility is perfect. I'm counting down the days to my next visit...

Great place to get away from it all, spend time with friends and work on your crafts. I come back as often as I can. HIGHLY recommend!

This place is heaven on earth!! So spacious and relaxing. The food is Ah-Mazing!! And do not miss the chance to get a massage. I would go there once a month if I lived closer.
