Very nice and well curated arts museum !

Exhibits vary in time-line, dating back 19th century. And vary in varieties of arts and techniques.

The exhibits are also laid out in a themed manner. It's also a good place to learn some history.

Always showcases special exhibits and musical concerts from time to time.

Car parking spots available at the facility or in a nearby garage.

I really love this small unexpected museum.

It is dedicated to southern artists and I found the art fascinating and compelling.

Admission is $5 and you can spend as little or as long as you like. The sections are set up very thoughtfully and flowed together very well.

I really enjoyed the portrait section as well as the abstracts. The traveling exhibit was folk art and was really a great display.

The staff is friendly and informative, giving helpful suggestions.

The gift shop has postcards and note cards featuring my favorite paintings so I could share with friends and family. They also had lots of other southern made and themed items.

Afterward you can take a nice walk down the river walk and walk over to downtown Augusta for a great restaurant.

Go, and go often. It's not a huge museum, but it has a nicely curated collection of southern art. It's worth the small admission fee. The gift shop is worth visiting, too, especially for local things.

There are tons of benches in it, too, so you can sit and look at the art. Or leave your bored teen scrolling their phone.

Was just looking at the Riverwalk and stumbled on this terrific museum. Great collection of regional art and more, in a very nice facility.

Wonderful resource: museum, gallery and gift store! Amazing art library open during the week (items are non circulating) and the museum is free on Sundays! A must see for any visitors to the area 😊

A well curated cross section of Southeastern art. The CV of the artist was frequently included with the name of the piece. I was reminded the paintings were usually for the monied gentry but there were some examples that provided insights into history and Black life. Free admission on Sunday. Wear a mask. Okay

...what I wrote in their log:

"If you see this, you've seen what I've seen thru my eyes thru your eyes. ...Thank you!"

I mean that.

It’s a small but wonderful collection that’s thoughtfully curated and feels highly relevant to the area. It’s a quiet environment, the shop inside is quite lovely, and the pieces are worth seeing. Admission is free on Sundays which is an exceptional bonus, but cheaply priced the rest of the week still. It takes roughly an hour to complete the whole walkthrough, a little longer if you plan to shop. The interior of the building itself is gorgeous as well.

The art museum was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the many pieces of art from start to finish. To end the tour, I made a trip to the gift shop and purchased a few items. When in Augusta, everyone should definitely visit the museum.
