It's a great spot to sit and take in some quiet time outside, and I go there frequently with my wife and 2-year-old child. A wonderful location for boats and picnics. Kids can have fun on the playground there as well.

Absolutely breathtaking park. Feels like you’re in a different world. Very beautifully maintained yet feels like you’re walking in the wild.

Beautiful place. Perfect for kayaking, sailing or boating. Easy ramp access and parking. Small fée for boat entry. Great places to wait in the shade if you're staying back and chairs/rocking chairs to sit in. Awesome picnic areas for large or small groups. Playground for the kids.

Amazing lake. The biggest one around here.

Lot of fishing opportunities at several spots.

Great picnic spots. They have several picnic spots with a large area. Restroom available in each spot.

They have a big playground for the kids and several fields.

Plenty of parking available.

In season, they have enough kayaks that you can rent. A lot of people bring their boats. They have a large storage space for boats.

10/10 rating in my opinion.

A beautiful park to play or relax in. Plenty of places to sit and watch the water, fishing, boating, walking. Thanks, Derek Gough. I did enjoy the tranquility of the lake.

This is one of our favorite places to go to walk and have lunch at a picnic table. The scenery is great and is fun to people watch. Really like sitting on a rocking chair in the shade on a hot day. Plan on kayaking here soon. Is a very enjoyable peaceful place to hang out and will be back many more times.

A lovely place for a crisp autumn stroll. ...or really, any time you want to enjoy a bit of nature and the water. This is an easy drive for the South Raleigh and Cary area and makes for a chill 30-45 minutes out if you just need a change of pace. There are plenty of benches and picnic shelters here for your next grill and gathering event, a little space for fishing, and all this wonderful lake for rowing. It's also a fantastic place to bring your children if you need them to run out some of their energy (there's a playground section and plenty of opportunity for you to explain how trees and leaves and nature works). That being said, on the less busy days it's also a serves as an escape for peace and calm.

We had a great time walking along the lake. It was a nice sunny day, not much wind. The lake is big, not a lot of people this time of the year, we think about going back to fish. One of the Best park we found since moving to NC.

Very pretty views from the deck! Great place to go kayaking. These kayaks are easier to control then some other parks we have visited. The kayaks are longer and more comfortable especially if your tall . The single ones have more leg room and good back support. My husband who is 6’4” is very comfortable and even my son likes these and he is 6’ 7”. Very peaceful to paddle around the edge and relax. Great place to fish too!

One of the best lakes in the area. Perfect for different water sports, interesting trail for biking or a hike. Several spots for gathering from small to large groups. Helpful staff when help is needed.

Well maintained and clean. Nice place to boat or kayak. Launching a boat can be a challenge at times so arrive early. Expect some impact from rowing instructors and rowing clubs.

Nice calm place to hang out. There is no entrance fee unless you go to fish or use a boat. It has clean bathroom facilities and a nice deck to rest and watch the birds.

Cool playground right next to the lake! Paint has faded over the years but, it’s still a fun playground for little kids with many different access points and directions to escape and run and play in. 😁👍

They have a nice large fishing area, excellent picnic shelters, very nice trails, the bathrooms are cleaned/maintained, and there is a boat slip. You need a pass from their office if you want to fish as well.
