Wow, wow, wow!! So glad I was looking up attractions near Raleigh and this place came up. Got there early in the morning and basically had the entire visitors center and mill all to ourselves. Was able to get some awesome pictures without anyone around. Really enjoyed the scenery and beautiful location of this mill. Would definitely have liked to see it during operation. Thank you NC for preserving this stunning mill.

It is a beautiful park where you can take a walk but also learn about the historical significance and get to see the remnants of the water-powered mills from the bygone era. Ample parking is available, and you can see many wading birds in the millpond.

Nice and easy-to-walk trail. Not too many people on Sunday afternoons. I always take my friends here when they come to visit. A beautiful place to appreciate nature. I’ll be visit again in Spring.

So much space to explore! I personally love having a picnic near the mill, but there are plenty of trails to explore and different areas for everyone.

Such a great place to visit! We ended up doing the tour, and it was well worth it to learn about the mill. The area itself is gorgeous and peaceful.

Visited while on vacation in the area with a friend. Spent a lovely afternoon walking and chatting on the trails. Nice shade and easy paths through the woods. We saw owl, deer, butterflies, fish, frogs.. walking around the grist mill was cool.

I visited the Historic Yates Mill County Park while on vacation in North Caroline, and I LOVE this beautiful park.

My favorite spot was on the boardwalk out back near the rocking chairs, there's a small isolated dock. I could sit there all day... until dark.

The mill is incredible. The walking path worth doing!

I enjoyed soaking up the nature/habitat of this region. Thank you!

I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Well-designed County park featuring hiking trails, historic mill, education and research center. Pond, creek, forest, and wetland habitats. Restrooms available but pets are not allowed.

Had a great first visit this afternoon. We walked the mile around the lake/mill and did a quick walk through the visitors center. Great place to explore for young and old. Easy hike, great way to spend a half hour. Missed all the tours, will return for those soon.

Gorgeous place and the people that work there are super knowledgeable and friendly. The building has a wealth of information and interactive displays, and coloring pages (as well as a/c and bathrooms). They do guides and tours sometimes as well, we didnt go when they were doing any but I saw a chart and calendar for them.
Theres plenty of info about the wildlife in the area for when you go on the trails.
The Mill is absolutely gorgeous. Theres a ramp to the left to get to the bottom, tho its a little steep so be careful.
We bought some corn flour ground up at the mill as well. They have white and yellow available.

Lovely place to walk and there’s even a patch of grass to walk barefoot, confident there will be no doggie do. Serene place. This is an official wildlife sanctuary and there are now signs near the entrance that prohibit dogs for obvious reasons. To get to the mill, go straight away to the left of the parking lot. To enjoy a hike in the woods, go to the right. I recommend the Creekside trail for 5+ year olds, unless your child cannot resist the mud! There are wooden planks to walk on. For a real adventure do this trail and follow it with the High Ridge trail. This trail will take you to the Millpond Trail, which is your flat and easy walk. Both the High Ridge and the Millpond trails lead you to Yates Mill itself where the sound of the waterfall soothes your soul. There are picnic tables and educational center with bathrooms. The trails are all natural but the boardwalk is a smooth surface for strollers. The park is equipped with plenty of trash bins and such, so please respect nature and keep it clean. Enjoy!

I loved this place!

We were visiting from NJ, and this is a perfect little hike for anyone... intermediate to moderate... there are a few different trails and so much to see!

They are rebuilding the bridge, so you cannot access that part, however it didn't matter because you get to literally enjoy nature all around you!

This is a must do for anyone visiting !

We went here for a walk and to see the historic mill over the holidays. They have a few great trails which are well marked and include a long bridge across the lake and then the area with the mill and falls. The mill is beautifully restored and is cool to see. With the current weather the sluice gate was closed and the wheel not running but still very beautiful. Great spot to see some water birds.

Unique park focused on historic and ecological preservation. Well worth a visit to learn about the mill, let your kids play in the stream, walk the trails, and take in the beautiful views. Just leave your dog and fishing poll at home. I brought both and neither are permitted here.

Great park for a short hike to see the historic 18th century mill. The tour is excellent and allows you to learn about the mill's history and how it works. It still produces corn meal, which is demonstrated once a month.

I Love this Park... I think it is the best I’ve seen in wake county so far.
It is very clean, beautiful, serene and I love the mill and the sound of water cascading down onto the large boulders.

Lots of photographers are there taking photos of brides to be, mothers to be or couples taking each other’s photos!

It is an easy not too long hike around the mill and over the water bridge circling back to the parking lot.

Big area with picnic tables... very clean bathrooms and just a lovely park to spend an hour or so of family hike!

I Highly recommend it during the week so you can enjoy the mill waterfall and take some photos without getting in the way of the professional photographers and others hikers!
