Brant's Used Books

Book lovers paradise. It's not a sleek ultra modern novelty/book store with Starbucks in the corner. This is a REAL book store like Harry Potter would visit in a quaint English village. There are thousands of books and more arrive daily. Wander down the aisles and explore the "back rooms," It's almost overwhelming in a good way. The owner is extremely knowledgeable so don't hesitate to ask questions. I think she must have read every book there. Charming artwork decorates the building. And, the owner's sweet couch potato dog may even wake up to greet you . New hours: Mon - Fri 10AM - 5PM. Sat 11AM - 5PM. Closed Sunday.

The store owner and her adorable dog Max were extremely helpful in assisting me finding books for all of my nieces and nephews for Christmas this year. I love how eclectic the store is, I even came across a couple of books that used to be on my grandmothers shelf that had me feeling all sorts of nostalgic. I definitely will be back. I felt the prices were fair, and even if they were the same/similar to B&N or Amazon- I’d rather buy used than new. Supporting small businesses and thrifting/buying books that are gently loved is the ticket. Thank you!

Amazing local book store, you can literally find anything in here. From mysteries, plays, fiction, non fiction, and so so much more. Lovely store will definitely be coming back soon. The dog was also adorable! And the owner was so nice and helped us find our way and find the books we came for!

We just found Brant's on our last visit to Sarasota and am so glad we did! They have so many books, you can get lost in the store. We were looking for specific items and found exactly what we were wanting! The shop owner has two dogs, Max and Elvis; two of the sweetest dogs anyone could ever meet. My daughter fell in love with them and wanted to take them both home with us.
She has a nice selection of first edition books, as well as regular volumes. My daughter is an aspiring med student and there was quite a selection of medical books, more than we've seen in other used book stores. She also has a very nice Florida section, as well.
The owner was very friendly and helpful to us. We have shopped in other used bookstores in the downtown Sarasota area, but we will definitely be returning to Brant's Used Books the next time we are in town.

Easily my favorite bookstore in the state! Books piled high on every wall, as far as the eye can see. I always love coming in and finding something new! Plus, the huge collection of antique and collectable books is unmatched! I can not recommend this place enough!

I love this place. There are books piled everywhere of any genre you can imagine. I am usually surprised that a non-typical author or subject will be found in this store. The owner is very nice and helpful. This is truly the place you want to schedule so you can spend a couple hours wandering through.

Very cool and eclectic book store. I went in looking for AR books for my 1st grade classroom and found a whole room dedicated to gently used children's books. The owner gave me an amazing deal on the 50 or so books I purchased. During the 2 hours I was there, I heard the owner helping customers find books on everything from fashion to extremely rare collectibles.

Brant's is the BEST bookstore in Sarasota! Their building is huge, it has to be to hold all the inventory. It's also full of charming atmosphere and hidden nooks with comfy chairs. Barbara has every book you can imagine, from antique books to the new best sellers, at the very best prices. And don't forget to pet her dog Max on your way out the door! I know it's a challenge with an armload of books! 😁

This is such a marvelous bookstore. The owner was very personable and the inventory is remarkable. I need several more hours to sort through all of these shelves. I’ll definitely be back to explore and find more great deals.

Only the best book store in the Sarasota area. Been going for years, and I always find exactly what I'm looking for. Prices are very convenient, and the atmosphere is welcoming and soothing. Barbara is the kindest lady you'll ever meet! Go ahead, this is the spot to visit before you're trip is over!

The owner was very friendly and knows every book in her inventory. My granddaughter was looking for a graphic novel and found the perfect one thanks to her help. I also noted a great Florida section which had an eclectic group of books on flora, fauna, fiction, and travel all relating to Florida.

The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the books there. She goes out of her way to make your experience there memorable. They have a lot of rare or first edition books and hard to find copies. Everything is very reasonably priced. I love this bookstore. Keep Sarasota local!!!!!

Please be aware, owner does keep a couple of older dogs (but they're old boyes, so they're chill) in the store.

The most charming place! My mom and I found exactly what we were looking for at a surpassingly low price. The nice lady knew exactly where everything was, which was quite impressive for the size of the store and the number of books and isles. Also, the dog was adorable!

You're going to need some time to explore this huge store, like a "day out" type of thing. Brant's has almost every subject covered and labeled. Ask for help when wanting to go through the boxes or crates: Brant's has a system. Found a great philosophy book that covers The Masters. I began writing a historical biography and was excited to find an awesome dictionary type book that offers obscure synonyms for every day words. Again, have the time to explore, this is the point of Brant's used books.

Oldest (1957) and probably the largest used bookstore in Florida. Family owned and 2nd generation operated by incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Elvis (the dog) will warmly greet you upon arrival. You can spend a lot of time wandering thru the winding passages of books and eclectic things displayed. Lots and lots of wonderful vintage items for sale. You will never experience a bookstore like this one! Bargains galore!!

Brants is our favorite book shop! We love to wander in this cozy shop and get lost in the sea of wonderful options! The owner is a delight to chat with as well! We make the drive as often as possible.
