The Old Salty Dog

We stopped in mid-afternoon for a fish and chips late lunch after spending several hours at the Mote Aquarium across the street. Our server, Foster, was attentive and friendly, and the fish was perfectly prepared and a good-sized portion. Most of the tables have a beautiful open bayside view, and we saw some people docking their boats right next to the restaurant and coming in to eat. There's limited parking since they share the same lot with the large marina next door, but there's additional parking nearby across the street.

We arrived a little early and scored a waterfront table! We split coconut shrimp. They were good, but a little over cooked. Easy mistake to make. For lunch, my wife got fish tacos and they were excellent. I got the Fish and chips. That were really good also.
Even if the food was poor, we would still go for the beautiful views.

Great place to go for some food after a day at Lido Beach or even out for a bite to eat. I was down in Sarasota for a visit to see my son graduate college and he brought me here after we spent the day chilling out at Lido. Great place and the food was delicious! We sat outside by the bay and were treated to some passing by dolphins! Pretty cool! Strong recommendation for food, Strong recommendation for service and strong recommendation for atmosphere!

Stopped by this spot to grab dinner as a family before we did some night kayaking. They got our party of 9 right in! The vibes were immaculate, food was delish (10/10 recommend the grouper tacos 🤌🏼, that slaw and boom boom sauce was bussin’). Service was fast and friendly. Stop in and enjoy!

Hannah was our server today and she answered a few of my questions honestly and helped me decide between a few things and j absolutely loved what I got, the grouper fish sandwich fried I believe in a horse made batter ! Absolutely amazing and exactly what I didn’t know I wanted thank you Hannah ! View was gorgeous and it was hot but we still got shade seated right next to the water , and no flies ! Sooooo good thank you so much! The order of mussels was huge and they were big ! delish the broth to die for we loved it all

Loved that the peel and eat shrimp weren't overcooked and had a great old bay butter on them. Fried grouper was perfect. Burger was just ok but it's not a burger joint! Loved the views and the service was great too.

Our first visit here in 5 years of Sarasota residency. It is not a ‘British pub’, per Googles description. It is a beachy, airy, comfortable and casual Sarasota style place, on the water, next to a marina/boatyard, with great views. Good food, full size + cocktails and prime to all- great service!!
There was a wait, but in about 10 minutes text said table was ready. We sat at a high top along the bay view boardwalk, and our server Gracie arrived with menus, cocktail list and an engaging personna! (Note to mgmt.- Gracie is a keeper. Treat her right!)
Cocktails are generous and well made. There was a grouper egg roll appetizer, and it was generous as well- 2 rolls full of fish and a filling reminiscent of a good corn chowder.

This location is everything! Was able to sit on the deck and see out into the water. It was absolutely beautiful. Even for a local, I was pretty impressed by the views. I kept looking over the railing to see fish swimming right down below. It's hot in June, so I was hesitant on the outdoor seating, but it ended up not being bad at all. The food wasn't terrible, the hot dog bites were actually delicious.

We went on Easter about 11:30 we only had to wait about maybe 10 minutes because we wanted outside in the load table cuz I went with my 87 year old father and my 81 year old mother my parents absolutely loved it it was fantastic day the food was great the waitress was great it was just an awesome Easter thank you very much we loved it

Beautiful spot on the bay with amazing views and outdoor seating. Went for breakfast and the food was delicious. Good service and not crowded even during the high season. Will go back often!

Always an enjoyable time at the Salty Dog with the yummy food, drinks & atmosphere! Best fish tacos ever. So magical to see the dolphins, beautiful Pelicans & other ocean life habitats there & at Ken Thompson Park close by there.

I’ve been coming here for years. The food is decent, drinks are good and the view is fantastic! All in all, going to the Salty Dog is always a great experience. The servers are friendly and for the most part been there awhile. We usually come by boat and are thankful that there are still places like this to go in Sarasota. If you’re visiting don’t miss this place!!

We have eaten at Salty Dog twice in the last 2 weeks and love it! It is starting to become the go-to place for us. Don't let the casual vibe sway you to average food. It is not just about the dogs! They have one of the best great grouper sandwiches at a better price than others. It is one of our favorites! When in season the soft-shell crab is equally as tasty. Staff is always attentive and friendly. It can get busy but it is worth the wait. I'd suggest coming a bit early for dinner or combine lunch and dinner into an afternoon meal. For those visiting it is a great spot to watch the pelicans and boats on the water. Parking is tight but there is a lot across the street that you can usually get in to. It is definitely worth a visit!

This is one of my favorite lunch spots after a beach or boat day! Casual, breathtaking water views, fun people watching as boats come in and out, indoor and outdoor seating with open air. Great fried fish, great drinks. Sometimes they can have a pretty long wait but it’s worth it! Great service to!

The OG of Waterside dining. A beautiful view great service and drinks. A little pricey but you pay for what you get touristy orientated but definitely a local favorite!

Great food and incredible view. I tried the fully loaded Salty Dog and wasn't disappointed. Robin got the stone crab entree and was very pleased. The mussels appetizer stole the show. It was a full pot of perfectly steamed mussels in wine sauce; a very generous portion. Our waitress was very attentive and witty. A great experience.

This place is man's best friend. Tucked away water side. Friendly-well-trained staff. Everybody on shift was hustling. We came from the beach near closing time and they graciously served us. We come here frequently. I always get the fish and chips and haven't wanted to try anything else because it's so good. I've heard the rest of the menu is good.

This is our first time here... It was great! The only thing is that its hot in the restaurant.. No AC but ask for a for a high top table near the marina side and the breeze off the water will get you right! Also, ask for Kathy section.. She was funny and throughout with the day's specials and just down right a great server!!! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Anna Maria Island!! And the prices was not so bad, very affordable eats!!....
