Der Dutchman

This Amish style buffet checked all the boxes for me for a food experience. There was a bakery, a gift shop, and a massive dining hall or two or three or four. Let's just say it's HUGE! The food was good, just down home good. There are no surprises there. However, the beet pickled eggs were a treat. Never had them and totally enjoyed them. Overall, I gave them 5 stars in every category because obviously a lot goes into pulling off an operation like this, and I really respect what they do. The prices were really reasonable for the area. One tip ask for the wheat rolls because they come to the table freshly made and hot 🔥.

The family and I love this place, it is buffet style or you can order off the menu. It's a little pricey but so worth it. The buffet is roughly 20 bucks per person, you cannot take any leftovers home unless you let them weigh it and you pay so much per pound. Again worth the money if you have an appetite for some good down home Southern cooking line Granny made. The staff is amazing, very friendly and polite. Beautiful restaurant with a shop upstairs to browse and lots of goodies to buy to take home as well.

Simple food, but tasted good. The bakery looked amazing, and the buffet was smallish but entirely sufficient. The ice cream bowl at the end was perfect to finish out the meal.

We had a late lunch at Der Dutchman today. The food was delicious! The service was excellent. We really enjoyed checking out the bakery and gift shop. We will definitely be returning soon!

So great value for the price. Solid buffet food and selection. I just sometimes feel humanity brings the experience down. Plenty of parking, interior space, and store selections. We will come back. They do have various daily specials to order as well. We bought the zucchini and banana bread, which is delicious. Also got the strawberry rhubarb jam, which, although did not have the chunks, did have the pop.

We finally took our first trip to Der Dutchman and it was great. We had the buffet which was a great decision. We loved the roasted chicken. Salmon, Cod, Roast Beef and Salad bar were great too. Delicious desserts as well. Some may think the price is a bit high, but the options were well worth it. Planning to bring my relatives when they come to town. Great option for vacationers who want a home cooked meal too. My only complaint is that I ate way too much!

Best donuts in Sarasota. Not the biggest variety in town, but the flavor + texture are top notch. These are a few in our last batch: cinnamon twist, coffee roll, maple, glazed, and apple fritter.

Omg one of the absolutely best meals I have ever had in my life. The buffet was beyond amazing and delicious.
Best fried chicken I can say I have ever had, the most amazing baked ham, and the banana cream pie was so delicious I couldn’t stop ✋.
Our server Megan has been there 20 years and I can clearly see why. She was the most pleasant, attentive, informative and friendly waitress I have had in a very long time. She made a great experience even better.
I have read many reviews about the chicken being dry and tasteless! I have no idea where they went but the best fried chicken I have ever had.
This place was well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to go there. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing service clean atmosphere and great prices for food is cooked to perfection and was absolutely great you get amazing size portions as well!!! Definitely will be returning even had stuff from the bakery, which was great as well in the coffee is good too

What an amazing place. If you have never been to an Amish style store and restaurant, you need to visit this spot! So many items for purchase and very unique ones as well. The buffet style food service reminds me of large family gatherings. And the food is so good! It will always be a stop when we are in tye area.

Nice and friendly...It is very clean and the restaurant was very tasty. Luckily it wasn't busy. The only complaint is that they made us sit way out in the front. We didn't understand why we were placed so far from the buffet?

These folks have a traditional Amish store really going on. The food was excellent (Salmon) was great. The wife went on after to do some shopping lots of stuff stocked up. Of course I couldn't help but get some apple butter and bacon jam. Parking was excellent and the place was really clean. Guys take your ladies there if you are in the area can't go wrong.

Halfway through our bike ride on the Legacy Trail we came across this wonderful spot for brunch. The grill was closed but the full buffet was still available. We sampled an assortment of pastries which were all delicious. Also on offer was traditional buffet options like scrambled eggs, bacon,etc. Fresh fruit and yogurt/granola and pancakes for vegan options. My husband raved about the cheesy hash browns and biscuit and gravy. I enjoyed something called mush which I think was a corn fritter. Would love to go back for lunch or dinner if we ever come back to Sarasota. They also have a separate bakery in front of the restaurant and a gift shop upstairs. Highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area.

I went to Der Ducthman on my trip for the Amish buffet, and I was impressed. The meatloaf was really good, and the chocolate cake for dessert was out of this world. Also, the stairs in the gift shop along with the elevator was a cool touch. 5/5.

Love this big Amish restaurant, buffet, bakery, coffee, and gift shop. It's got clean restrooms, and the food here is always very good. There are so many people that come here that the buffet is constantly being refreshed. Prices in May 2023 - $17.49 for lunch buffet and $18.49 for dinner buffet. You can also order just the salad buffet, or off the menu as well.
What you need to know... You need to ask for complimentary rolls (which come with buffet and meals,) as well as cranberry sauce and soft serve ice cream, which also comes with the buffet.
Stop at the bakery on your way out for fresh pies and baked goods, fudge, and coffees. They sell jars of their apple butter and a whole bunch of jams, pickles, etc.
It's a fantastic Amish place that we enjoy every time we pass through town.

I have heard about this restaurant for years and we were finally able to try it for a late lunch. It was fantastic! The dining area is very spacious and decorated in a home style traditional way. The server was very nice and advised us on which dishes to order. I had Turkey and my husband had chicken plate. Both were excellent and the portions were huge. The food came right out and it was delicious. The buffet is very large and the prices reasonable. The restaurant is known for it bakery and the peach pie was wonderful. Even the iced tea was tasty. Afterward we browsed the gift shop for presents for the grandkids. It was a delightful experience and we highly recommend this all American great dining experience.

I never give five stars to a buffet restaurant but this is worth the exception. I have very high standards when it comes to food and this restaurant exceeded my preconceived notions. Their broasted chicken is the star of their buffet and well worth that status, it was crispy and moist with lots of flavor. They have shown that they've mastered the skill of doing great buffet items that generally dry out, like their meatloaf and ham were both juicy and bursting with flavor. The buffet usually offers at least a couple of desserts and all of them were great. Looking forward to going back again soon.
