San Marcos Supermercado

When I’m in the mood for tacos I always order here. Like any restaurant, sometimes the taste can vary depending on the cook. Generally, this place stays pretty consistent. BUT. This Saturday, December 2nd 2023, I had the BEST food I’ve ever had from this place! It had me moaning after every bite! It’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Tennessee!!! San Marcos Supermercado, if you’re reading this, however you made your food yesterday…KEEP DOING IT. That was the best birria quesadilla you made! It was so thick and every bite was amazing!!! The freshest batch of dipping sauce. Maybe Saturday is the day to go.

The meat in the tacos is always charred beautifully. The chicken and Al pastor tacos are my favorite!!!! (The chicken is underrated and one of the best things on the menu.) Sometimes I wish they could give a little more salsas on the side, but only because they taste so good! The verde chicken tamales are amazing too. Whatever you did Saturday San Marcos…keep doing it. You have one loyal customer here, and I implore to ANYONE wanting tacos, anything birria, tamales, burritos etc. You have to try ordering from San Marcos Supermercado!! You won’t be disappointed. (Also might I add, the prices are very affordable, and an amazing value considering the quality of the food. 10/10!!!) I hope this place never leaves. Check out their grocery too! I am always in search for an authentic taco, and it was recommended I try out La Esquina Market at 1156 East Main St in BEAUTIFUL Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This place is much more than a spot with some Mexican food, it is also a butcher shop and full Mercado. I decided to try their tacos and they are served on a “doubled” soft tortilla with different toppings depending on the meat selected. I went with Asada, Pollo, and Carnitas. The only thing I added was some cheese on the side so I could add a small amount. I really liked the fact that they did not “overload” the tortilla…there was just enough meat and topping to make it full, not spilling out everywhere. Loved the “garnish” of radishes and a slice of cucumber along with the slice of lime.

The Asado taco was good but the steak was a little overcooked…if the meat was more medium it would have been excellent. The Pollo taco was really good, nice flavors, and had a bit of a roasted flavor. My favorite was the Carnitas taco…it was delicious. You could taste the wonderful roast pork flavors and the cilantro/onions topping really enhanced it.

I really loved the small soft tortillas they were served on…not sure if they are homemade but they were very tasty. To wash it all down…can’t beat a Coca-Cola from Mexico with real cane sugar!!! I must say you can’t beat the price…the entire meal and tip was $10…can’t beat the quality, flavor, friendly service, or price!!!

The Mercado offerings look great, with specialty meats to include HOMEMADE Chorizo sausage I need to try. As I walked through the store I saw a variety of dried peppers, seasonings, fresh vegetables, and fruits in the grocery section. I also saw the BIGGEST hunk of pork rind I have ever seen, and if you need a special Piñata…they have you covered there too.

Some of the best latin american food I’ve ever had. The beans, rice, lengua, hand made tortillas, birria, and churrasco were all fresh, flavorful, and just delicious.

Very well-stocked grocery store and in the back they have a restaurant that has a fantastically large menu and the Mexican food here is the best I have had in the South and I'm in love with the tamales I always stop by here and grab a bunch of tamales to take home

OMG!! Lunch here or take home.. tamales .. awesome tacos... homemade verde sauce and other sauces... most common Mexican beers available including Pacifico...small veggie section... its like most Mexican food stores but it's really CLEAN! they also sell homemade LARD! Lovely staff!

Super friendly staff. I am from Phoenix Arizona and I gotta say the attached restaurant sell Mexican food as good as any you can get out west. It's hard for me to not make this a daily stop.

Hands down, the best authentic Mexican food in Murfreesboro.

If you're looking for affordable, authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further. The staff is always incredible, the food is consistently delicious, and the market itself has a ton of well priced options. After visiting Mexico, I thought I would never find comparable food here in Murfreesboro; La Esquina proved me wrong!

I don't know very many authentic Mexican recipes but it looks like this places has a great variety and selection to do so. The tacos they serve here are amazing though and that is why I come in. They are so good and service is always really quick. Price is good too.

They always have what I need and the tamales are absolutely amazing. I haven't tried everything yet but the quality of the food appears high. The staff is friendly and not judgy when a little white girl comes in. 😂 It is also the only place I've been able to find in the area that sells El Milagro tortillas.

First I got a chicken taco and my boyfriend got a cow intestines taco. We both absolutely love ours, so we got 3 more. I'm a VERYYY picky eater, but today was my first time trying cow tongue and intestines. If you eat steak and burgers you're not too far off from these. The prices of the tacos were like $1.50 to $1.75 depending on the meat they put in the tacos. Super authentic. Very flavorful. I wish they served hard shell, and maybe they do, but by default you get a soft tortilla. The refreshing cucumber & lime was good too. My boyfriend loved the fried chili sauce on the table, but be super careful. It's extremely hot.

One of the best places to grab a quick meal in Murfreesboro. The staff is always very friendly and answers any questions about their menu. I've been there several times now and I've never been disappointed. The market selection is unique as well. Everything seems to be fairly priced. They will certainly see me many times in the future!

This is the most authentic, flavorful, hidden gem of an establishment in all of Middle Tennessee. I would put their dishes against ANY taco or burrito-serving establishment. This is supremely delicious food, and I've been eating here for years. Nothing but love for La Esquina Deli!

They have a new ATM, I used it and it was convenient and fast.

We love this little store especially the prepared foods yum. The store is clean and well organized but I wish everything had the prices advertised since kids like to shop for themselves. The people who own/work here are the nicest friendliest people that make you feel welcome.

Great place for authentic Mexican food. The tamales taste exactly like the ones that I get when I visit Mexico. Also the meat cutter is really nice and helps us with all of our meat needs.

Freshly made, awesome tacos and home made salsa and their burritos and quesadillas are great too. Great people that run the store, convenient location, great prices, and I am a repeat customer that has never been disappointed! I'll keep going back!

La Esquina has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and one of the few authentic mexican places in Murfeesboro. I was worried when they switched ownership, but the food is still just as amazing!
