I brought my cat in on the 20th of October 2023, for his shots and thinking he just had a bad tooth, he hadn’t groomed for a while, he was drooling and clearly in pain. I only had so much money with me, thinking I would pay for his shots, and set something up for a tooth extraction. Dr Hannah Burns, had a hunch, he had FIV(and he does sadly) found a way for me to be able to do the blood work, his shots and put him on antibiotics and a pain meds. It’s only been 3 days, since he saw her, and he is so much better! He’s grooming again, he’s playful again. He’s back to being the cat that showed up on my doorstep 7 years ago.

Unfortunately he does have FIV, but she found a way to get him feeling better, I was thinking the worst, and seeing how he is now just after three days, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been coming to this clinic for a few years now, and they’ve been great! I’ve always just seen whoever was available but Dr Hannah Burns will officially be the vet I want to see my boy. Thank you so much! I can’t express how it feels to see my boy acting like himself.

Great veterinarians! Throughly explained what puppy needs and answered all concerns. The vet noticed the need brought out with his vaccines was too big and he immediately switched it to a smaller needle. If you are planning to get a puppy, I would budget for their puppy plan! Worth it.

My escape artist of a fur baby got out and got into a tussle with an outdoor cat and ended up with a nasty open wound to his chest. After taking him to the emergency vet, Smithfield Rd was excellent in his follow up visit. They have been our regular vet for all of our babies since they were kittens. I’m so grateful for their attention and transparency during the whole process. Theo had to return for several bandage changes over a month and they were so helpful with pricing and being considerate of how costly his weekly visits were. Although a stressful ordeal for both parent and fur baby, they loved on my fur baby like he was their own. I can’t thank them enough for getting him back healthy and being so responsive. I recommend Dr.Polu to anyone who is in need of a good vet. A big thank you to Reggie and the receptionist up front as well for being so kind and loving on my baby during his time at Smithfield. Their office is about 25 mins from where I stay now but they will remain my regular vet.

Nothing but good experiences with this group. Always friendly with our fur babies!
Update: just had an appointment this week and they were very busy. The whole staff made sure we were aware that they were sorry for the wait. Professional and courteous!

The staff is so friendly and wonderful with me and my 2 dogs.the service is wonderful. They don't have you waiting for a long period of time and the price is right at check out time. And my dogs love them to death.

Dr. Church and staff are amazing. They take good care of our sweet girl Diamond. We had a real life scare and thought we'd possibly lose her a few years back however Dr. Church was determined to get her better. Such an awesome family like practice

Update: Recently, I noticed a lump near Harlan's hip. I took her to see Dr. Church and he recommended surgical removal. I was very nervous about the surgery but I trusted the vet to make the right choice for Harlan's health. I'm happy to report that Harlan's lump was cancerous but Dr. Church was able to remove the whole tumor and Harlan is now cancer free! I am so very satisfied with the quality of care at this vet office.

I’ve taken my dog, Harlan, here for yearly shots and when she contracted worms from doggy daycare. Both vets did awesome with my dog!

She’s a rescued pitbull mix so I always feel like people are going to judge me for owning an “aggressive” breed but the staff is always so kind to her and me.

The cost is lower than most vets too.

The waiting area is small, but they also give you the option to wait in your vehicle with your dog in case she/he isn’t comfortable with confined spaces.

This vet does it right!

Dr. Justin Church was awesome. My dog had been licking for months and had sores all down his back and stomach. He diagnosed him and gave him the proper treatment and medication. It has only been a few days and the licking has stopped. My dog has comfort and that is all I can ask for. Thank you Dr. Church.

We have a big mixed breed dog that is skittish. They always make her comfortable and she feels safe. Always a positive experience and the cost is very reasonable.

Logan was super helpful and kind! Entire staff extremely busy yet kept us updated and showed my “Goose” boy so much love he actually enjoyed his first vet trip!

I just realized I never wrote a review after my dog's heart worm treatment here in Jun 2016. I originally emailed Smithfield Road to inquire about the heart worm treatment. Dr. Church personally called me to discuss the treatment, what was included in the price, and what to expect post-treatment, etc. He took the time to fully explain everything and answer all my questions and he didn't seem like he was in a rush to get me off the phone. On the day I dropped my dog off, all the staff were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care about me and my dog (I admit I cried a little dropping her off overnight and the staff were very sensitive to my situation). I called the office a few times to check on my dog and the receptionist was very helpful and didn't seem annoyed that I called a few times (lol). When I picked my dog up, she seemed well-taken care of and two of the techs had grown very fond of her. All after-care treatment was fully explained and I left feeling confident about how the procedure had went. I traveled from Apex to Knightdale for this treatment (~45 minute drive) after reading all the positive reviews and speaking to Dr. Church (and their prices don't compare to any other vet office I talked to). I'll definitely return in the future if needed! As some of the other reviews state, the waiting room is small and can get cramped (this wasn't an issue for me at all). The place is very busy with people constantly in and out and the phone constantly ringing; however, I don't feel that the busyness took away from how my dog or I were treated at all. The best part of the story... 6 months after the procedure my dog is heart worm negative!

My family has been bringing pets here for years. Always professional and courteous. Recommend to any pet owner!

The only con to this place is the waiting time, but it's great that we don't have to schedule appointments especially with a busy schedule and several dogs to have to get annual check ups. There prices are incredible and the doctors are straight forward with us. The last visit my oldest dog had a full blood test done and the only thing that was not 100% good was her liver test but Dr Church was honest and said it was like a 1 in a rank of 1-10, 10 being the worst so it would be a waste of time and money to run tests and give her meds and to just keep her checked every 6 months or so or if I saw any changes. I've taken my dogs to other vets who will run tests for any little reason just to charge and arm and a leg. I'm staying with these Dogtors as long and I'm in the area!

I've never met anyone who has come here and not fell in love with the staff. They treat your pets like their own and they have gone above and beyond for me and my babies on more than one occasion. Dr. Church and Kelly, I can't tell you how much your work and time has done for me and Giggles. Ever since shes gotten that tumor off, she acts like a puppy again. Dr. Freels did an amazing job taking care of her while Dr. Church was out of town. I'm very grateful that this place is around to care for animals in a way that a lot of other places couldn't without being greedy. Thank you so much!

I absolutely love the availability of this clinic. Over the course of ten years, I have needed urgent help with two household pets, and both times, I was seen immediately and offered the help needed. The staff is amazing, and it is evident they do what they do because they love our pets as we do. Thank you for being there and for doing what you do WELL!

I hesitate to rate this place so highly for purely selfish reasons. I’ve taken my Corgi here for the past few years. They are by far the best vets around. No frills. No Appt required for routine maintenance. Dr. Church, Dr. Freels and the rest of the staff have one goal: take care of your pet. I learned the hard way, with my first Corgi, that there are Vets in the business to make money, and there are Vets with a passion for pets. They are not close to me, but unless it is a life threateningly emergency, I make the road trip to to Smithfield Road Vets.

This vet is excellent. It's not the biggest or newest but the people more than make up for that. Dr. Polu and Dr. Freels have both helped me with my cats and the front office staff is always amazing. They always make me feel welcome and it's clear they care.
