Mochiko

One of my clients recently told me about this place and I couldn’t wait to try it! I had the Hawaiian BBQ chicken with Cucumber Kim Chee and Mac Salad. Also a small side of Poke. It was delicious!! The Poke was nice generous chunks and immediately brought me back to my days living and working in Hawaii! Chicken was cooked perfectly and the marinade YUM! I recommend everyone to try them out! Large portions for the price! I will for sure be back!

It was absolutely amazing food with awesome customer service. Sort of a grab and go with only a few seats inside, but plenty outside.

Loco Moco special - burger over rice with an over easy egg on top. It was pretty good, but would choose something different next time. The chicken curry bowl with rice was delicious!!! The curry sauce was so flavor full. Then we ordered 2 of the spam/rice cakes wrapped in seaweed. They were so good!! Highly recommend this place!

What a pleasant surprise! We stumbled upon a group of people standing outside the restaurant in The Yard area waiting for their orders, so we decided to give it a try. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes and the owner was helpful when I asked about recommendations. I ordered the chicken katsu plate with brown rice and classic tuna poke as my side. The panko breaded chicken was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I would definitely order that again, but the tuna poke was good as well. I'd be tempted to order a poke bowl with Hawaiian mac salad as my side. Interested in ordering a slice of the chocolate coconut pie too.

My family and I were traveling through today on I64, coming from the Outer Banks. There's not many options east of Richmond, but I stumbled upon Mochiko and and boy was it amazing. The staff were polite and my food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The chicken was seasoned well, sticky rice was perfect and the watercress salad was delicious. The highlight of the meal was the Tuna Poke side, even though my 7-year-old scarfed most of it down. I definitely will put this place on my must-stop list for my next trip through!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Genuinely. While you'd miss it if you weren't looking for it, this little Hawaiian joint tucked into a small corner of a large shopping center is worth going out of your way for. Shrimp tempura is generally one of my favorite foods, and this is now my favorite place to get shrimp tempura. The crunch was phenomenal. The sauce was perfectly balanced flavor wise, and the rice was cooked exactly how I like it. I added a side of the spicy green beans and when it was all said and done $15 (tip included) had me perfectly full, but with my mouth already watering at the promise of the next time I go. Please come check this place out. You will not regret it. Much love ❤

Spent over 10 years in Hawaii so when I saw I could get a plate lunch, Musubi, and chocolate Haupia pie?! Easy choice, great food, poke was also fresh and tasty. 10/10 Onolicous!

I had the BBQ chicken and it was so good and tender. It came with white rice and for my sides I had the Mac, corn, watercress. Everything was delicious.

*I want to say I was fully refunded for my entire meal, even though I was only missing one item. I greatly appreciate that.

Update: The food is still good, but portions have gotten significantly smaller.

Also, my spam musubi was missing from my to go order, but I was charged for it.

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BAG BEFORE LEAVING (even though it is stapled).

This is an amazing place to have in Charlottesville. It is mostly a carry out restaurant but they have allot of outdoor space and a few seats indoors. The spam musubi is great and the beef is to die for, although after trying everything on the menu it is all worth trying. Another reviewer mentioned that there is no bathroom however there certainly is a nice clean bathroom that I have used :)

What a great spot! Ordered the Chicken katsu bowl with sesame green beans, watercress salad, and Mac. Everything was delicious!! The chicken was perfectly tender and crispy and I loved that the flavorful sauce was on the side so I could add as much or little as I wanted. Very generous sizes for the price. Can’t wait to go back! :)

By far the most authentic Hawaiian place in Virginia, maybe even the entire east coast. Great service, reasonably priced, and authentic atmosphere. Mochiko is a Charlottesville must.

Talk about bang for your buck- this is my favorite place in Cville for a quick, always delicious, filling, and insanely priced food! Seriously $12 doesn’t get you a meal anymore - but here it gets you the BBQ chicken & rice with 2 sides and oh is it mouth watering!! Support this local gem 🙌

Just tried lunch at Mochiko and had the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken bowl. AWESOME! The chicken was tender and so tasty! You get a big bowl of chicken with rice and two sides. Delicious! Cannot believe I've worked nearby for so many years and didn't know this was here. Will definitely be back soon!

Although tucked into a corner of western materialist hell, this little spartan 'shoebox' is an oasis, resembling the generally ethnic shops in the outer boroughs of NYC.
The crew is friendly and efficient, the menu small and reasonably priced, the food and portions good and Mr Mochiko was on premise, personally checking each order. Rarely am I lured to purchase Tea in a can, but the Hawaiian Lychee was excellent.

Authentic Hawaiian food. Homemade Pog, Spam Musabi, Moshiko Chicken over 2 scoops of sticky rice, spicy green beans and 1 scoop Mac salad. I will be returning. Mahalo!

This food was first introduced to me via food truck at the Fontaine research park while on my lunch break. The amount of care and love that goes into this food by its owners is really something that must be tried by all! The authenticity the flavors and the quality are nothing less than perfect! I became even more excited when they opened up their very own restaurant! I order from Mochiko as often as I can! It's one of my top favorite places in the world! I have eaten at restaurants up and down the east coast and some do not compare to the great quality and taste of Mochiko. My favorite is the chicken katsu! The chicken is moist and deliciously thin but not to thin and that outer panko crust is so crispy! Their spicy garlic green beans are not knock you down spicy they have a little kick but the garlic comes through as well making it a perfect combination! Don't even get me started on their Hawaiian macaroni salad it's so creamy and is dressed perfectly! If you have not tried this place please do! You will not be disappointed!

Such good solid simple food! The first time I ordered here I got the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate and loved it so much I haven’t been able to get myself to order anything else yet. The chicken itself is cooked so well being both tender and crispy. The sides, especially the watercress sesame salad complement the main so well, rounding it out to be a great meal! Would recommend!!

Great Hawaiian restaurant, the food is unique and delicious. This place is a great addition to the local foodie scene here in C'Ville.

It's a winner! I tried the chicken Katsu w/ Hawaiian Mac and the Garlic Green Beans. The breading on the chicken gets a great crunch, but the chicken is tender. The bbq sauce is tangy and a great addition. I enjoyed the sides as well, I'll be back!
