Iron Horse Bar and Grill

We got the brisket sandwich and the bbq pork sandwich with fries and slaw. The brisket was much better but the whole experience was really good. It’s bar food but we all thought it was very good and would recommend.

My husband and I are on our honeymoon and have traveled from IN. This is BY FAR the best restaurant of the trip and we’ve been to two steakhouses. The chicken tenders were delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband LOVED the bbq brisket sandwich and the bite i tried melted in my mouth. Great atmosphere and service. If you love ranch it’s great as well. Definitely worth the trip if you’re visiting Yellowstone.

Great location and the staff was super friendly and hard working. Ringside view of the roaring Yellowstone River and swift water rafters. Good selection of drinks but try to hit happy hour between 2 and 5 as like every other bar/ restaurant in Gardiner...pricey!

Pricey dive bar by the Yellowstone river with great food and service. We arrived here late afternoon and luckily didn’t have to wait. Ordered the rainbow trout, huckleberry BBQ chicken, and bison sirloin. All the dishes were delicious. Staff was courteous and service was super-fast. There is a 20% gratuity for a party of 6 or more. Would definitely visit again if I’m back.

We rolled into town around 7pm on a Sunday so many food places were closed or very busy with other tourists, but this gem was a bit more hidden and not as busy so we walked in for takeout. The lady at the bar/desk area was SUPER friendly and helped us right away, we were able to order quick and get our food within 10 minutes. While waiting for the food I noticed the gentleman who was serving food was also very friendly helping others and also brought out our food, staff were all great despite being a bit late on a Sunday. Both entrees were amazing, the only thing was the side of potatoes that had a chunk of powder not mixed well but everything else was really great!! Definitely glad we stopped in.

Most excellent food with eclectic decor. Wide open bar on the inside and outside deck seating as well. Wife was bummed they ran out of trout but she really liked her rib eye. I had Thai spicy wings that were delish. Everyone was friendly. A place that a lot of locals go to.

Great atmosphere with friendly employees and quick service. Elk nachos & Bison burger were very good. Pricey, but considering the area, nothing unusual. Nice selection of IPA and pilsner beer to satisfy anyone's taste. ROLL TIDE!!! From Alabama

For a small town restaurant, the food was good. The place was clean and the interior was very cool.

Great atmosphere, and the food is equally as good. Service is polite, quick and efficient. I had the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and an extra side of bbq beans, my wife had the bbq brisket and coleslaw. All was delicious! This is definitely a place to come back to. Huckleberry margaritas are sweet!

You will be surprised by the lively interior. This place has lots of character. Good food and drinks. Definatly recommend this place. Both inside and outside seating, games area and wheelchair access. Sit outside on the deck with a drink and watch the river flow past.

Darn good bison sirloin and pork chops, both had a great gorgonzola sauce, the sirloin was cooked and seasoned perfectly with a bit of char on the ouside. The redskin mashed potatoes were also excellent. My son really enjoyed his bison shepherds pie. The corn on the cob was ok, I like it better when it's in season. Good selection of locally brewed Montana beers, I had the Scottish Ale. The interior design was a hoot. Eat here instead of in the park, the food is better, served faster and costs less.

Great beer selection and the view, be careful and navigate around the corner, if you don't see the river you are in the wrong place

Great food, great bar tenders. Good place for a quick bite. You walk up to the bar, place your order (I suggest the brisket sandwich and one of the local beers!) They give you a number and bring it to you. Outside seating along the river is gorgeous. The one female bartender even recognized us from a few days before and I swear we got royal treatment! Just for being a returning customer to an AMAZING place. Must try if you are in town!!!

Iron Horse bar and grill is a really cool and eclectic spot. Usually pretty busy, they have a lot of seating and sometimes there can be a wait, but it's worth it. Prices are pretty decent and portions are big, but the food is delicious. They have a good selection of drinks as well, and even a little area with games. Definitely worth a stop since it's only a few minutes outside the north gate of Yellowstone.

Want to start off by saying this place is amazing! We left Yellowstone due to their limited covid menu and we wanted some STEAK! I had the Bison steak and my lady has the sirloin! Both were perfect! Our server was Chris! He was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had a great experience!

If the owner is reading this, please take good care of Chris and give him all the raises as they are well deserved!

Western style, the food was delicious, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked.

Great view, good food! Deck is right next to the river, excellent view over dinner and drinks. Smaller menu but all our entrees were tasty. Service was quick for our party and hostess was friendly. My ribeye was cooked to perfection, mash potatoes were fresh and tasty.

Right on the river! We sat on the deck and had a lovely breeze. There was a baby deer down by the river, which entertained out kids. There was a wait for a table, but they allow you to sit around the outside of the deck or at the bar while waiting. Bison burger was our favorite menu item!
