The Clarkson Inn

Our stay at The Clarkson Inn was exceptional. We were traveling late and checking in around the 3 am hour. I called several times ensure someone would be there to check us in. There was always someone available, pleasant and reassuring on the phone. When we arrived we were greeted so warmly and offered a later check-out.
The rooms were Nostalgic with antique decorum. I truly appreciated the crisp white duvet covers over traditional printed blankets, the bedding was very comfortable.
Now, breakfast was my favorite! The waffle maker was superb, fresh juice, nicely seasoned eggs and much more. The Clarkson Inn is a great alternative to franchise hotels. I loved the personable experience!

Lovely small hotel, very pretty and great location downtown with restaurants and shops in walking distance. Views of the river. We walked over to nearby Ives Park and enjoyed a small jazz concert. Staff was friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was good.

Kassia at the front desk was an absolute gem. We were stressed upon arrival after driving through flash flooding, and she calmly helped us with everything we needed. Otherwise, the location is ideal. And the hotel is a little dated but kept up well. Thanks, Kassia!

Rooms are spacious and clean - nothing extraordinary, but the price makes sense for what they are. Location is excellent and everything you’d want to see is within walking distance. Front desk staff were extremely accommodating and kind. The evening employee suggested fun events going on around town that evening and was very kind. The morning employee had breakfast ready at 6am sharp and even jump started our vehicle so we could head out on time. The service of the employees is what earned this five star review. Thanks again!

First trip to Potsdam, and The Clarkson, definitely made the trip. Spent three nights with zero issues. Breakfast was good, place was quiet. And good parking. The evening desk attendant was amazing. We will definitely stay at the Clarkson again if we can!

The room was clean and comfortable and the inn itself was lovely. Kassia and Matthew provided excellent customer service. I left some belongings there and when "ILEFTMYSTUFF" had a technical issue they personally mailed my belongings back and stayed in touch with me the entire time.

I made a reservation for my son recently who was working on a construction project in the Potsdam area. I cannot say enough about how attentive the personal are. Kassia and Matthew at the front desk were so personable and went out of their way to assist me in setting up a room. Just through their personal service they have earned my loyalty .

This Inn was the most amazing host for me after driving directly from Brooklyn, NY to SUNY Canton! They booked me a clean and cozy room without a reservation, and welcomed me with open smiles and greetings.
The breakfast buffet-style was delicious and free! I only wished I could've stayed longer...Shout out to the Clarkson Inn of Potsdam, NY...woo-hoo!!!

We booked three nights here last minute because an Airbnb didn't work out. We were so impressed with this hotel! Our room was clean and very quiet. Right behind the hotel is an adorable park that was perfect for walking our dog. Minutes from many restaurants and hikes this place was in the perfect location. The breakfast was disappointing, not the great spread we were expecting based on the website but the coffee was hot and always ready. We would definitely stay here again!

Our room was comfortable and clean. I couldn't rate the service because they said no one would enter the room if your stay was less than a week, which was perfectly fine with me.
When we arrived, there was 2 bottles of water and 2 bags of chips waiting for us. Plenty of towels and a nice cool room. Our room had a mini fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot. Not really enough coffee for 2 people and 2 nights but I suppose not everyone enjoys coffee quite the way we do!
I also gave a low rate on location. While is is a great location, we initially drove by 3 times before I went against the GPS and pulled onto what looked like a parking lot. After a heated discussion, I looked up and said "There it is". There was no brightly lit sign. So unless you know the area, and know what you're looking for, you might drive passed it several times, too.

The Clarkson is a beautiful, charming hotel!!! They have a nice breakfast area, although the breakfast is just ok. There is a fireplace in the sitting area with chess and checkers. Get the traditional room with two queen beds, listed as popular among travels. It gives you a very nice sitting area. Also a room on the river side is a must. Front desk folks were very nice, speedy check-in and helpful.

Very clean and spacious room with refrigerator and microwave. Fantastic location within close walking distance to little downtown shops and restaurants, where you'll find a geat dedicated gluten free cafe with everything from wraps to sweet goodies.

This is a nice place to stay if you prefer something other than the Hampton Inn. The rooms are large and very well appointed, also quiet for a restful night. The staff are professional and the breakfast is excellent. What's not to like?

We loved our stay! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, our room had a great view of the river, fresh air from the windows, cute decor, lots of nice little details like a makeup mirror. We were super comfortable and will definitely stay again. We hope Potsdam can recover from the economic impact of COVID lockdowns and that this hotel will survive. We noticed 3 of the 4 bars in Potsdam were permanently shuddered and there were many other closed storefronts. Depressing.

This is a cozy and charming hotel, located right in the heart of Potsdam with convenient proximity to Clarkson University. It is located along the scenic Raquette River. The staff was very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The rates are very reasonable. We found our room to be spacious, comfortable, and nicely appointed. Our room was very clean and had conveniences that we liked: a refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was spotless and fresh. I would absolutely stay here again in the future and unhesitatingly reccomend it to others.

The Clarkson Inn is Convenient & Clean. Book your stay well in advance as space is limited during popular university event weekends:-) Very quiet and a true non- smoking place to sleep!

Wonderful place to stay! The staff is so incredibly nice and the décor is so unique with historical pieces from the local area. It really feels like you're spending the night at your Grandmother's house (in the best way possible). I would highly recommend staying here above anywhere else in the area!

Rooms have everything you may need. Kind, helpful, friendly staff made my stay for the FISU games one of a kind. Wendi, Chris, and entire staff is wonderful, couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!
