Huron River Inn BAR-b-q

I recently enjoyed dining at this delightful restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the tantalizing BLT and the golden, crunchy onion rings. The bacon was exceptionally flavorful, a pleasant surprise compared to other places. My companion opted for the Fisherman's dish, a delightful medley of cod, perch, and bluegill. The fish was not only delectable but also remarkably tender, free of excess grease, and perfectly crispy. The portion sizes were quite generous, and the atmosphere exuded warmth and a lively vibe. Our server was prompt, amiable, and remarkably attentive. As someone who often feels like an outsider in local bars, the inclusive atmosphere was a delightful surprise. Additionally, the establishment's long-standing history added an extra layer of charm to the entire experience.

Made a quick pit stop here on our way to a New Year’s Eve party just in case they didn’t have a bunch of food ready since we hadn’t ate. The place actually had a pretty cool atmosphere. All of the food we got was really good and are waitress was super attentive and helpful when it came to making selections. Wasn’t sure what to expect before stopping here but for sure would not mind coming back! Check it out if you haven’t be for, I’m sure you won’t be upset :)

My wife and I just got food there for the first time because we work down the street now, and mother of god this was one of the best sammiches(the PIG) I've had in a very long time. The Carolina style BBQ sauce was incredible and the pulled pork was crazy juicy. My wife got the Club, and that thing was STACKED. She absolutely loved it. The bartender(s) that helped us when we got there were welcoming and really nice and the place looked very clean.

Went yesterday for Sunday lunch. The parking lot empty so was not sure they were open at 2 pm. When you walk in you can smell the smoke from the BBQ. So you know it's going to be good. We order the white chicken chilli. That came out nice and hot, and it's was delicious 😋. I had the brisket plate and my friend had whole slab of ribs. And you get 2 side and a piece of cornbread. The brisket was amazing a nice thick piece of meat with a bit of fat on the top, the bottom had a beautiful red ring from the smoke with gave it the most amazing flavor ❤. The ribs were nice a tender and still juicy and the meat just fell off the bone magnificent. They offer 3 sauces the house sauce which was sweet, a hot which had some good heat to it and a Carolina which was my favorite ❤❤❤❤ I will different be back again soon. And will be bring more family and friends for sure. Great job the the waitress who was serving us a great girl, and 👍👍to the cook man you are amazing. Great job. That was the best BBQ I have had.

Was there on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. The food was amazing, and the karaoke was pretty fun. Real great atmosphere. The staff was really nice and friendly. However, they seemed a little inexperienced. Small things like not giving silverware or napkins to all the staff constantly working random sections. Overall, it's a great place, and I'll be back.

Tried The Huron River Inn for the first time yesterday. It was Great! I had the pulled pork sammich! So moist, tender and properly smoked! My Son in law, who is a native Texan, said the brisket was the best he's had in Michigan! Service was great and friendly. Can't wait to get back and try other dishes!

Older building but tons of character. Fun, loud atmosphere. The food was delicious. Fries were crispy. Ham and bacon had tons of flavor. House BBQ sauce was sweet and tasty. Chicken breast had delicious seasoning and was still moist. Ribs were perfectly cooked. For our first visit everything came out great. Service was perfect. We will be back for sure.

Best bbq around downriver. Slow Smoked, dry rub. Amazing brisket too. Could use different fries though like steak fries or something not so greasy. But best bbq hands down.

Great service quick and great food with great alcohol lots of fun a little bit more of a old timer bar but has pool and darts with a slot machine too overall a great night out

You wouldn't know it from the outside but the food was pretty dang good. It looks just like any other vintage neighborhood drinking establishment from the 30s or 40s. Looks like it was once an old house back in the day. The service was top notch and prices were decent. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw and a bowl of white chicken chili and my friend ordered a broiled chicken sandwich with a simple iceberg salad. The slaw was the only thing i didn't enjoy, it tasted off somehow. My friend tried it and she too thought it was an odd flavor but said she's had it before and didn't remember it tasting strange. We couldn't place what spice was added to affect the taste. My pulled pork sandwich was tender, juicy and delicious and was served generous amount on an ordinary bun. There was so much meat piled high that i ended up took half home for a midnight snack later on. They had 3 bbq sauces on the table. Hot. House and some type of vinegar mustard. I preferred the house, smoky and slightly sweet. My friend liked the vinegar mustard. The white chicken chili wasn't white like I've had at other places but it was very very good. They added some type of tomato ingredient (i think) which isn't in a typical white chili recipe making theirs kinda pinkish color... but whatever it was, it totally worked. I would order the white chili again. If you're a die hard no tomato white chili fan then be forwarned. But go ahead and give it a try. We liked that our soft drinks were refilled without asking and before they were empty. The menu featured several tempting bbq items that i would like to try on future visits as well as traditional burgers and numerous appetizers, etc it was hard to make up my mind. We orderd the pretzel bites. Yummy. Next time I'll order the fried pickle fries and i need to try the mac n cheese.

The atmosphere is that of your typical neighborhood bar type decor but not dark or seedy. A pool table over by the bar and plenty of regular tables to sit plus a separate area with tables for diners. Plenty of folks there but not too loud or crowded. There was a lovely family present with their school age daughter and their grandparents in the dining area that stopped for a quick chat about the weather as they were leaving. Very nice.

I was only disappointed the bathroom sink was stopped up (ew) when i went in to wash my hands but i didn't use the facilities to notice if they were stopped up too. So one star off the atmosphere grade for that. I normally can judge a restaurant on how well they pay attention to the bathrooms so this one looked presentable enough for a bar type place. But the attentive staff more than made up for the slight inconvenience of the sink. Im sure it's fixed by now. I didn't expect a 5 star restaurant ambiance when we decided to go.... i expected exactly what it was... The local Pub n Grub. I will definitely return for the friendly faces and great food.

Went here to get some brisket for Texas Independence Day. Was blown away by how good it was. Easily the best brisket I’ve had in Michigan. Will definitely be going back.

Dropped in to check out the HRI following the change in ownership. Three of us had dinner, and we all enjoyed it. The prices are reasonable, the portions are plentiful and the service was very friendly. The menu has a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches which are all made with skill and attention.

We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, and they were cut thin like french fries. This was great since you got more of the seasoning in each bite. Very good. When we've had these at other locations, they typically come with a dipping sauce, and I'm not sure if they forgot to bring it or they don't offer it with the fried pickles. We didn't miss it though because they were breaded and seasoned so well.

Next, we had sandwiches including cod and the corned beef Reuben. They were all good. The corned beef Reuben was stacked high with chunky and sliced corned beef and not the typical deli sandwich meat you get at some places. It was very tender and flavorful. Will definitely get that again. For our first visit under new ownership, they did well, and we plan to visit again.

Food is great and if you like a rustic atmosphere this is your place. Service is excellent and friendly.

This Inn has been around for a long time. It's a good place to grab a drink. The food is great, at least every time I've had it, it is. Good flavors, tastes homemade. If you're in the area, check them out.

We were there this past Sunday...cool old building est. 1910 between the railroad tracks and Huron River. Nice variety menu. 5 of us ordered different entrees, we all really enjoyed. Good portions, well cooked, tasty.

I just recently heard about Huron River BBQ so I thought I would give them a try. I really enjoyed their barbecue, especially the brisket and pulled pork. Their house barbecue sauce. Is it also very good? The portion sizes were very nice so I felt my dinner was a good value. I know costs are going up for everyone but I was disappointed that they charge for drink refills. I have not seen that at other local restaurants.
