FRAUDULENT AND NEARLY FATAL

I am posting this here as an attempt to connect with Reco Faines, the pastor of Revelation Worship Center who is also owner of Faine's Auto Sales.

On July 9, we purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 from Faine’s Auto Sales. At the time of purchase, Ron Dunkel (the salesperson) repeatedly told us that it was inspected thoroughly, drives great, and is perfect for what we needed. It marked most of the boxes of what we needed in a used truck, so we bought the truck for $25k ($31.8k total). Ron repeatedly assured us that people travel from across the country to buy diesels from them because of their high-quality, fully inspected vehicles, which is why they charge these prices. He did an excellent job of building our confidence in them and their products. My husband and the kids finished up and were leaving not far behind me.

My husband hadn’t even pulled the truck off the lot realizing the driver’s side window wouldn’t lower and the air conditioning wasn’t working at all. He went back into the dealership and Ron told him to take it to a repair shop and have them call him. This was on a Saturday afternoon. Auto repair shops are not readily available over the weekend and he had a long drive back home without A/C or being able to lower the driver’s window. My husband said, “Ron, you told me that nothing was wrong with this truck and everything worked, that’s why we paid so much.” Ron replied, “I’ve never driven it or started it. I thought everything was good. The auction house inspected it.” This was very different from what Ron had led us to believe. He had repeatedly said that it “drives good” and had been “thoroughly inspected”. After going back and forth, they told him to leave it and they’d have their preferred guy look at in on Monday. We picked the truck up on Wednesday with a new A/C compressor and window motor. $1592.23.

On July 29, my husband heard a small sound, truck pulled to the right, and ABS light came on. As he pulled off the highway, it started to feel rougher. As he turned into a Walmart parking lot, it felt like a flat tire, so he parked immediately. When he got out, the wheel was almost completely off. The truck was towed to a local auto repair shop where they determined that the wheel bearing had sheared and only the ABS line and the suspension were keeping the wheel attached. The repair company replaced the entire wheel hub assembly. When I spoke with Ron about this and explained that had it happened a few days earlier while pulling our fifth wheel with our kids, it would have potentially fatal. $465.73.

We had bought the aftermarket warranty (bc future engine issues could be expensive). When we called the warranty company, we learned that Faine’s had never activated it.

Originally my husband noticed that it pulled a little to the right. Alignments cost around $175 in our area so he took it for one on August 22. Then he learned that there were issues with the front end, ball joints, and control arms. $2,357.20,

We paid $25k when the price should have been $13k based on the condition. We’ve owned the vehicle for less than 60 days (4 weeks total it has been in for repairs) and driven it 1,366 miles but spent $4,415.60 on repairs. I’ve reached out to Reco Faine (owner and pastor at Revelation Worship Center in Springfield) without response.
