Owner Helen Rouse has the eye & experience of a pro. If you are looking for personal service and exquisite clothes, this is one shop with something for almost everyone. Classics as well as some modern pieces, I found the perfect dress on a Saturday afternoon. She did the fitting there, sent it Monday for alterations and I got it back on Tuesday for my Wednesday morning event. Jewelry & hand bags - all gorgeous.

In a retail world of mass produced, Ill fitting “fast fashion”, The Julia is an absolute gem. The owner, Helen, is a delight. She carefully curates a timeless, high-quality collection, mixed in with the perfect edgy pieces. I look forward to returning soon!

This store is absolutely fantastic. The owner, Helen has amazing taste and is super helpful. If you have a event or just need a wardrobe refresh she will help you choose the right outfit and even send it off to the tailor! The store has been around for over 100 years and that speaks volumes!

If I could give them no stars I would! I walked in and there were two older ladies that politely welcomed me into the store. I started to look through the clothes and found a few pieces that I wanted to try on. As I was still looking through the clothes I found an oversize shirt that I was interested in. The lady then begins to say “ That shirt is quite big so it should fit you!”

I stopped for a second and had to process what she said to me and I was mortified! I am 5’7” and size 12. So I am an average woman and she made me feel like I was a cow! The other lady tried to fix it by saying “I really dont think she meant that. My daughter is 6’ and a size 16.” And I am not sure why she said that either. I of course was upset and said you should never ever say that to anyone! I was hurt and embarressed. The other lady kept talking to try to fix it by still rambling on but the actually woman who said the derogatory comment never apologized or tried to make it right. It was the other lady who was trying to do damage control but the damage was done. So if you are a size 4 or up they will judge you and make you feel horrible but with a smile on there face! I will NEVER EVER return here and I have always heard that these ladies at The Julia were super judemental and harsh but with a southern charm that I guess makes them feel that they can be this way because they say it with a smile. But now I know for myself that the rumors are true and so I will take my business to the other multiple stores in the area that appreciate ALL of their customers and not just the skinny ones! I truly am surprised they have been in business this long! I guess they cater to people that are just as judgemental as themselves!
