My husband and I just experienced the Rendezvous Package and found our room to be very clean and spacious. The staff were so helpful and this enhanced our stay. Wine and chocolate covered strawberries were brought to our room, our breakfast was delivered each morning and we enjoyed a delicious meal in the dining room. Can truly say this was a great get away for us.

A gorgeous resort on the water with beautiful views of the ocean and numerous places to sit and enjoy with others or in solitude. Close to restaurants and walkable. I would return at the same time to avoid the busy season because it was quiet and very peaceful. Opened the door wall in my room and slept to the surf sounds with no other noises to distract. Room had nice amenities and coffee, asked for cream the night before to put in the fridge provided. 2 seating areas, one in and one out, was unique and a great touch.

We have come to Blockade Runner many times. This was the first time we came with our 19 month old son. We enjoyed it like always. We walked into the lobby and it always smells so fresh. A staff member helped us up to our room and pushed our cart of stuff upstairs. We got an ocean view room and it was gorgeous. We love being able to look at the water from our room and the pool and beautiful landscaping. We also love the pool it’s very very clean. They have pool towels available and plenty of seating. There’s a bar at the pool and you can order food from them as well. They have a nice walk to the beach where you can walk by the beautiful landscaping and they always have wild bunnies hopping around eating the grass. They are so cute. Last year they had a bunch of babies. After the beach they have a hose you can rinse off and a dryer to dry the water off. It’s a really nice added feature. There is so much seating outside where you can enjoy the view. The rooms are a little bit dated. And the beds are a bit cheap. But we love it here so much we don’t really mind. The customer service from literally every single staff member is top notch I don’t know how they find so many wonderful employees. They must be really good to them. We will come back many many times it’s our favorite place at the beach.

I've stayed here four or five times over the last 12 years and have always had a great experience. The recent bad reviews gave me second thoughts about my booking but I'm so glad I didn't change my plans. We traveled with our parents and had separate rooms. There was an initial glitch with my parents' room assignment which put them on a higher floor when they needed a lower floor. We gave them our room on the 2nd floor, but there wasn't a comparable room to move us to due to us staying 3 nights and them staying 2. We were moved to the 4 story wing in a balcony room. Previously, we had only stayed in the other wing with the Juliette balconies. Our room was clean and more recently updated than the rooms in the other wing. The bathroom was a bit larger and new, as compared to the older bathrooms in the other wing. We really enjoyed having the walk out balcony and new bathroom. In the future, we will always book a balcony room. We overlooked the beautiful grounds and had a nice view of the ocean.

All of the staff we encountered were wonderful. The young lady that checked us in and moved around room assignments was professional, friendly and helpful. It took some time to get it all worked out and she could not have given better customer service. Our early check-in request was honored, and when moving our room, she made sure our new room assignment was far from the elevators as originally requested. Ron was very friendly as well and helped us with our luggage. He and the young lady at the front desk represent the hotel very well. I dropped my toothbrush when unpacking and a young man at the front desk was very kind and gave me one to use. The housekeeping staff honored my request for extra towels each day. There are a lot of complaints in the reviews about the hotel being worn and dirty. Beach hotels are prone to rust and corrosion with the salty air and hard water. It's also over 50 years old so it does show its age here and there, but our room and my parents' rooms were very clean. It's a very high humidity climate and there are water spots on some of the ceiling tiles from the air conditioner dripping condensation, but it isnt dirty. They have made efforts over the years to update the decor, but there's really not much that can be done to older metal door casings and such other than totally renovate. Scuffs on walls and baseboards don't mean the hotel is dirty. It just shows it is a bit worn like an old house. The furniture is a bit dinged up here and there but this happens when guests don't treat it as they do the furniture in their own homes.

I understand that renovations will occur at the end of the year and I only hope we won't be priced out of being able to stay here. I wish the hotel would bring back the buffet breakfast they had years ago. There never seems to be many people using the restaurant anymore and I wonder if it's because the food seems a bit expensive. The buffet could be priced into the room rate or offered as an add on. I really miss it. It was wonderful! Complimentary coffee in the lobby would be a welcome addition as well for just a few extra dollars per day on the room rate, as would an urn of lemon water.

The water at Wrightsville Beach is very hard, as it is at most beaches. I don't know if the hotel uses a filtration system, but if not, it would be helpful for showering. I was amazed at how clean my bathroom was considering how hard the water is here. The housekeeping staff must work hard to keep the shower doors looking good.

Give this place a try and hopefully you will have a good experience. Just know it's an older hotel and has some wear here and there, but the location cannot be beat. I recommend booking directly with the hotel rather than a third party site.

We did a tour of this awesome historic hotel. We didn't stay here so I can't rate the rooms. They are getting ready to do a renovation. The grounds and views are to die for. Can't wait to come back to stay

I didn't stay there, but walked through on my way to the local coffee shops. There were always doormen at the entrance door and they offer valet parking. I loved the landscaping. I had to snap a few pictures of the succulents and pepper plants!

My husband, son, daughter in law and I stayed here last weekend. We loved this hotel. The views and landscaping are stunning. We spent a lot of time on the property just enjoying all they had to offer. Restaurants and bars are within walking distance, The service was fantastic. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I checked into the resort around 6:30 pm on 4/3/23. We were greeted by one of the managers at the front desk and a kind young woman. We immediately felt welcomed and happy we had chosen to stay at the Blockade Runner. As our stay continued, we received the same level of customer service from every staff member. In addition, the manager was extremely helpful a few days into our trip when we decided to stay an additional night. He was able to honor our original rate and he allowed us to remain in the same room, which we absolutely loved. We stayed in a double queen oceanfront room with a balcony; the bed and the room were extremely comfortable, and the views were breathtaking! Thank you for making our first vacation without our four children an amazing experience!☺

I absolutely adore this beautiful boutique hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and very well thought out (Garden-like, plenty of space to relax with cabanas, hammocks, fire pits). We did yoga in the garden and it was so relaxing and peaceful. Waking up to the beach daily was so delightful. We didn't try the on-site restaurant but heard all good things about it.
The rooms are modern and well designed. The only reason I gave a 4 is because there are no microwaves, and the heat doesn't work in part of the building. The hotel staff had to bring up space heaters. Since I had no idea, I turned it on trying to get it to work, and all it would do was blow out cold air, making it even colder in the room. They should provide some type of notice to guests regarding this issue until that's fixed during renovation.

The hotel itself is beautiful. Check in is a little late in my opinion. I love the gazebos and hammocks. I wish they had a second pool that was just for adults because the kids were screaming and throwing a football all over so I couldn’t even go down there. You do have to pay 10.00 to park your car overnight with should be included in the room price. I would like to come back and enjoy this place again.

Every detail is impressive. The room with a picture perfect ocean front view, comfy chairs on the balcony, gorgeous landscaping, FINE dining, complimentary valet parking, beach towels, umbrellas and lounge chairs available… this place has it ALL. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. You won’t forget or regret your stay!

Epic experience as always. Food is even better than ever, and the varieties of beers on tap make it a great place to go for a drink after an awesome Carolina Cup SUP race. The swim through pool gate allows you to swim from the outside to the inside where the hot tub and sauna are located. Outside bar has super fun tenders and the huge acorn chairs are a relaxing place to nap, read a book, or write a review;)

We do a fair amount of traveling and stay in several hotels and air bnbs - 7 to 10 per year.

We took an impromptu trip to the beach with a warm front coming in. Chose this place based on reviews.

Exceeded expectations - we stayed in the balcony section, renovated rooms. Clean, spacious, good showers, nice beds, nice people, great service.

And…as a family we rate all restaurants we go to on a scale of 1-5. We had breakfast and rated it a 4.1875.

We’ll be back!

Wow what a great place for our family of 6 with our teenage boys. Surf to sound in walking distance from the Beach to the Sound in a few minutes, this was one of our best beach vacations in the US. We can recommend this beach experience as outstanding. The resort services are endless and the personal super friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful decorated and the whole hotel is a unique experience for people who love family owned boutique hotels with special charm and character. We have had happiness all around during this vacation! Thank you for this great experience Blockage Runner crew!

This is the best spot to stay in Wrightsville, especially for the price! The rooms are comfy and all have a water view of some sort. The amenities are great - hot tub, sauna, pool, beachfront access, several gathering spaces. I have been staying here since I was a kid, but this last time was hands down my best experience so far. The staff went above and beyond by surprising my partner and I with a special treat when they heard it was his birthday. It was so lovely and appreciated. I will return here again and again!

Right on the beach, view can't be beat - we had a beach front room (very clean) , top floor, balcony, their other building has beach front rooms without balconies. They also have rooms that overlook the inland waterway, but they also overlook the parking lot. They have a pool and tiki bar between the hotel and the beach. Beach chairs are provided. Didn't try the dining room.

We had a phenomenal stay here. The rooms, although a little musty and in need of a facelift, are well laid out and have gorgeous views. Easy beach access with a person ready to set up an umbrella and chairs for you. Highly recommend the evening sunset cruise!!! The food is excellent, though the menu really could use more choices, especially healthy ones. However, what really sets this place apart is the service. From the bellhops to the housekeeping and room service to the concierge and wait staff, this place gave me the best service experience of my life. They are truly on another level when it comes to friendly, super-responsive service. I can't recommend this place enough.

My husband and I loved our winter getaway here. Helpful front desk, beautiful lobby, clean room, gorgeous views, delicious dinner (crab cakes and scallops), easy parking. We enjoyed walking on the beach to Tower 7 for tacos and The Workshop for cold brew.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay last week. Our room was very nice with a great ocean view. As always, the grounds were exceptionally maintained and attractive. We were especially impressed with the concierge. She approached us in the lobby to share great info regarding hotel activities and local eateries. We followed one of her suggestions and are so happy we did. All employees were friendly and professional. The location is great too.
