John's Gun Shop Of Thurston

John knows his stuff when it comes to guns. Has a pretty good selection for a "mom and pop shop". It's a shame to see everyone going to the big box to save a buck instead of supporting the little shop. He's a no nonsense kind of guy, but will work with you to find what you're looking for.

This is my dad's store, and the reviews that characterize him as "rude" are associated with his no-nonsense style. He's super knowledgeable about firearms and is a real character. Understand that this store is operated as a semi-retirement project by a person who 100% does not care if you like him or not. But he REALLY loves buying, selling, and talking all day about guns and hunting. He's not selling a ton of volume like some of the big retailers, so he will not be able to offer the lowest prices on guns that are more generic, but he is really good at finding more unique and rare guns for his customers!

Also, it's best practice to call ahead. Dad is often doing things around the farm (which is on the same property) during store hours. During busy seasons (e.g. around hunting season), he's in the store all the time, but not as much during off peak times.

I've known John for awhile. Very funny guy. Was a BIG help picking out a handgun. He showed me the ones I thought I was interested in, then he showed me one he thought I might like....as soon as I took it in my hand, I knew that was the one!! Thanks John, you were a great help!!

It's a little out of the way but a great little shop for finding just what you need. If he doesn't have it in stock, he will order it for you. Very friendly!

Old fashioned and out of the way but a cool little shop with a cool owner, give them a try sometime.

Called to get some pricing on a item and I told him just trying to find the cheapest price so I’m calling around to other shops as wel and as soon as I said that he just said “ok bye” and hung up very rude tried dealing with him before in the past and apparently just don’t want my business and many of my other friends I will make it known! Beware rude guy!

I feel that john was very rude and unhelpful. All guns on the wall were over $300. I bought a box of 12 gauge target load and left. I unfortunately will not be returning here.
