Not a bibliophile myself, but I always cherish my interactions with "Doc" Adams. Fascinating people; fascinating books.

The Pistachio Nut has a pleasant & mild flavor, comes from a small tree, keeps well on account of having a kernel that's encased in a thin protective film (a "pellicles"), it's been cultivated since for thousands of years, it was originally brought back to Rome by Lucius Vitellius. All of these facts are according to Nuts: Their Production & Everyday Uses by F.N. Howes (Faber & Faber, 1948). This is one of the many books that grace the shelves at Wm. H. Adams Antiquarian Books. This lovely bookstore is stocked full with amazing rare and treasured books, lovingly curated by Diana & Bill, a husband and wife team.
Bill was a physician. After he retired, he decided to try to bind medical journal articles together and took an immediate interested in the craft of book-binding. After created medical books, he practiced his newfound art on Shakespeare.
Bill & Diane are friendly, kind, and clearly love their books, bringing many of them back from the UK when they visit. There is a lot to check out here and several other bookstores in the small town of Hobart. Wm. H. Adams Antiquarian Books has everything from law to medicine to history and much much more. My favorite was their large selection of historical cookbooks. Be sure to stop by for a visit.

Great bookstore! If you're into antiquarian books it's a great place go. I regularly buy classic texts from them and have never been disappointed. They also regularly travel to the UK to hunt for rare books, and will look for stuff for you while they're there. This is one of my favorite bookstores, and Bill & Diane are great!

Interesting day trip if you are in the area and are a book person. Gent (Bill?) was helpful and interesting to chat with about specifics. They offer a discount immediately and were negotiable. Many, many, many older books. Other interesting items as well, like a Battle of Gettysburg map made shortly after the battle. Greek and Roman items as well.

Another rare gem in this town, especially for those who like Greek and Roman stuff, but they have far more than that. Lots of true collector's items but with a nice bunch of other titles mixed in. If you want Greek and Latin texts (I know most don't but I do), this is the place to go in Central NY if not most places in the state beyond the city. The owners Diana and Bill were very warm and friendly. Beautiful store. Each store up here has its own personality. This one looks more like an old rare books store right off Boston Common.

If you are looking for antiquarian books with knowledgeable staff you must come here. Plus it is in a "Book Town" which means there a couple other bookshops in this town, well worth the detour!

A gem of a store and wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable owners. I cannot recommend highly enough, and could easily have spent more time there. Really neat collection, very reasonable prices; a good collection of British books, as well as others (Greek/Roman, American history, etc.). I hope to return on another trip to this area.

A unique and well-tended antiquarian bookshop in Delaware County, with an extensive array of curated first and significant editions to tempt collectors. I'll note they have a particular strength in Greek and Latin Classics, with an abundance of 18th and 17th century editions. Many of these are just texts - if you want a 1750 edition of Cicero, gorgeously bound, but with no introduction nor commentary, and have $350 for pretty things, you will find truly unique volumes. There's also quite a few slipcase, collectors-type translations, if you like line drawings of fauns to go with your copy of the Georgics. If you dig a bit more you'll find some good odd reference works, and some editions with Latin commentary or sometimes English. Books are well arranged and display cases show off pocket-vest editions of the Greek New Testament, e.g.
Shopkeepers are knowledgeable, genial, and meticulous in the packaging of one's purchases.

Great little place for the antiquarian-minded. Owners very helpful and gracious going so far as to offer tea to all. Books are wrapped prior to leaving the store.
